Taking A New Luna

RONAN’S POV
There was this thing about feeling the need to have what your sibling wanted and I didn’t know if it was just going on between me and Ryder.
A few hours after I had returned from my mission, he requested my presence in his personal wing which was something we rarely do. Anything outside of park issues, we just preferred to stay in our different lanes and not cross each other’s paths.
You might want to ask why since we are brothers. Well, that’s because we are just that way. So I was a bit stunned when all of a sudden, he requested to see me.
I had her in mind all through the operation and all I craved to do was to be in her presence immediately after I returned but when he sought for me, I had to forsake my intention and go to him, my mind filled with curiosity about the reason for his call.
When I arrived in his wing, even the guards at the main entrance were a bit shocked to see me, though they tried not to show it. More the reason to believe I did not normally come here.
As I entered his living room, I was greeted by the image of him, standing and overlooking the vast landscape from up above. His wing was situated at the top most part of the building and he chose that for a reason. So that he could overlook every activity going on within that side of the pack.
Though I knew that he was very much aware of my presence, I cleared my throat to let him know of my existence or rather to inform him that I did not have all the time in the world. I had work to do that was not his.
“You are finally here brother” he veered around to face me with a broad smile on his lips. He dropped the glass of rum in his hand on a random table and widely spread his hand. Not in the gesture of asking for help but showing me around his lavish living room but I didn’t even turn to look around.
“Yes I am because you requested my presence.” I deadpanned, waiting for him to state his business so I could get the hell out of his presence.
“You know about my marriage with Lila correct?” Ryder asked.
“Yes correct” I nodded. “Anything wrong with that?” I inquired, wondering the reason for the topic.
“No, nothing, I am only second-guessing about the whole thing”
“you are second guessing getting married to Lila? You know how she came to be, I have a feeling she is not going to let go of you” I replied, reminding him of who he was engaged to incase he was forgetting.
“If I let go of her there is nothing she can do. It took time to get here I know but I am most certain that I do not want to be with her anymore”
“You know this isn’t an easy task to deal with right?” I inquired. “I am sorry to say this out loud but your soon-to-be Luna is practically a maniac. She wouldn’t just allow herself be tossed aside just like that”
“There is no reason to be sorry. More the reason why I do not want her to be a leader in the palace. I sat down and carefully thought through this and I discovered that she doesn’t deserve to be on that throne”
“Oh, you mean just like how you don’t?” I wanted to ask out loud but I refrained from doing that and held my tongue.
Instead, I cleared my throat and rubbed my temple, pretending to be in thought.
“What now do you have in mind? You do realize that the elders won’t be patient enough to let you look for another woman after so many years of waiting right? Especially now that they thought the throne was finally going to be complete in less than two weeks’ time” I uttered, my hand still on my temple.
“I am aware of that and I have something planned out actually. I wasn’t just going to toss her aside when I haven’t got her replacement yet.”
I frowned, surprised. “You have got someone to replace her?” I couldn’t hide the amusement in my tone. I could confirm that my brother might be sterile when it came to women, he doesn’t look at any. Reason why he was ridiculous enough to think he could turn his fling into a Luna.
“Yes yes, there is this girl I rescued in the forest when I was returning from my last hunt”
That was all it took for me to know who exactly he was referring to, I didn’t need him to utter any other word.
“A girl?” I swallowed hard, pretending not to know who he was referring to.
“Yes, I think she is the perfect Luna material for the throne. Finding her appealing to the eyes is just a bonus. The main reason is that she used to be a Luna in her previous pack. So I believe she will do well in taking care of her duties without needing any form of orientation”
“That” I cleared my throat to get rid of any form of information. “Is a very big bonus, I must say” I nodded.
For the rest of our time together, I just pretended to listen to him while in my mind, I was going through all the ways to make sure he didn’t get Malia. Malia was mine and there was no room for argument about that.
“Alright then, give it a shot and see how it goes” I shrugged as I got up from the couch, indicating the end of our conversation.
He only nodded and then turned to the window yet again. I took that as my cue to leave and stepped out of his premises immediately.
I didn’t know how I was going to achieve that, but I for sure wasn’t going to let him have Malia.
Never!
