MALIA’S POV
I don’t even know why the hell I haven’t thought of doing this the moment I got up from bed with the break of dawn. It would have saved me so much stress of having to be forced into sitting for breakfast with him and above all, having to face his not-so-acceptable Luna. The last thing I ever wanted to do, was have anything to do with her ever again.
This pack might be quiet at night, as observed from the day before. But whatever it missed at night, it made up for it during the sun’s dwelling time.
Just the number of people hauling around, going about their everyday life was enough sight to be held, not to begin talking about the amazing geography and art. At first, I thought that just the palace contained this historical context but roaming through the heart of the pack, I could tell that the whole pack was historic and not just a part of it.
What got my attention the most was the enormous statue of a man, high above the sky, glimmering to the light of the sun. I couldn’t make out the face of who it was because it was so far high up and the sun was eye blinding but judging by how it was placed, I needed no one to tell me that the person was a respected figure in the pack.
I also passed by alluring wood-carved art at almost every corner of the pack. Even houses had little art placed at opened windows and doors were carved beautifully out of the woods.
To cut the whole tale brief, I would safely say that the whole of this pack had an extremely massive interest in the craft. Even things as simple as street signs were carved beautifully out of either wood or marble. It was majestic.
At some point in my tour, I stumbled upon a market. I difn’t know if it was just me exaggerating everything but even something as basic as a market place looked so different here and I could confidently say this is the most beautiful pack I have ever visited in my life. Need I remind you that I used to be a Luna and I have visited a handful of packs surely more than an average person.
“Are you looking for something in particular, Ma’am? I sell everything, ranging from foodstuffs to clothing items. My shop has it all” a particular Vendor uttered, getting me to swipe my head toward him.
“No, sorry I don’t need anything. I am just…. touring” I shrugged and smiled softly at him. He was practically the first person that spoke to me since I set foot outside of the palace.
“Nonsense!” He waved my claim away and before I knew it, he was out of his stall and was dragging me toward it. “I have everything perfect that would fit you. A beautiful lady like yourself shouldn’t just pass by without buying anything from a trader such as myself.
“Here, put this on” He placed a feathery cap on my head. “The sun is shining too bright and your beautiful face shouldn’t be affected by it” He did everything so fast that I didn’t even have the chance to react.
“Err…. this is beautiful” I slowly removed the cap from my head. “But as I said, I am just watching around. I do not have an interest in buying anything. I am sure you will get a buyer soon. Just continue to display it” I remarked, dropping the cap on the shelf together with the rest.
“What?” He looked somewhat stunned that I wasn’t intending to buy the cap. “Alright bring seventy, it is one hundred and twenty but I will give it to you for seventy. Alright,” He waved it in front of my face like that could magically get me to buy it.
“I would have loved to buy it. It is stunning but unfortunately, I have to break it out to you that I do not have any money for that at the moment. My pockets are dry and empty” Ironically, I did have a pocket in my dress today.
“Well….” He looked conflicted for a few seconds and then his eyes lit up clearly showing that a plan had come into his mind. A plan, which I wasn’t going to be fond of.
“I will give it to you now, anytime you come into the market with money, you locate my stall and pay for it. That will be alright, now wouldn’t it?” He gazed at me as if he had just done me a huge favor.
“I…. uhm am not sure if that will be a good idea. I might not be able to locate you, or worse decide to run away with your cap without paying” I tried another strategy hoping it would work.
Instead of getting the reaction I was hoping to get, he eyed me with a displeased gaze and uttered. “You do not look like anyone who would do that”
I opened my mouth to utter a reply but he was suddenly interrupted by a fellow vendor from the next stall. She got him engaged in a conversation that had his attention away from me for a few seconds. I took that opportunity to slip away without turning back until I was out of the market.
With a sigh of relief, I chose to go down the deserted part of town this time around. The closer I moved, the lesser the number of people I had to meet on the way. But strangely the louder it got. There was this noise coming from the path I took that got louder with each step closer and I noticed mostly guards going down that path.
When I finally reached the end of the walk, I realized why it had been noisy from far away.
It was a training ground.
An extremely gigantic training ground consisting of trainers scattered around, each going on their daily business.
Now, this looks like a place where I could relax.
