A Rethink

MALIA’S POV
He didn’t reply to my question, instead, he arched his brow and continued to gaze at me lazily like my words meant nothing to him. After a minute or two of awkward silence, he deemed it the perfect time to reply.
“What are you trying to insinuate?” He inquired instead of answering my question.
“Nothing. I just had this strong belief that you should be having breakfast with her and not wasting your time with me. Isn’t she going to be offended when she finds out?” I tried to not hit the spot with what I meant, I just wanted to present my idea before him.
“I am still failing to understand the point you are trying to pass across here. I saved you and got you into my pack without having an in-depth knowledge of who you are, so of course I will need to spend some time with you to find that out”
I wanted to speak, I really wanted to ask him what else he wanted to find out when I had already told him every single thing that he needed to know about me. I even went the extra mile and filled him in on information that had nothing to do with that. But he was still claiming this breakfast was for the purpose of figuring me out.
“I… what other things do you desire to know about me that I haven’t informed you of?” My question was simply harmless and I genuinely just wanted to know what it was so I could answer him and vacate his premises as early as possible.
“I have every right to request your presence for no apparent reason and you do not question that. If you are not educated enough about that from where you are coming from, I have all the time in the world to teach you that now. In a hard way”
To say I was bewildered would be an understatement. Each time I thought I was at least getting to understand him and then he went ahead and did stuff that put me into a different series of doubt. It was really hard to know what was going on inside his head. Then and there, I knew dealing with him was going to be hard.
Not having enough energy to put myself in a bad spot, I decided it would be best if I just shut it up and let him continue to speak. At least he wouldn’t be able to hold anything against me unless I spoke.
With a snap of his fingers, two maids arrived and began to clear away the used plates and wine glasses. I wanted to use that medium to excuse myself and leave but I thought against it considering how furious he looked.
I rummaged through my head to see if I could remember saying anything that sounded offensive but nothing came up. I was hella perplexed and didn’t even know what to do with the whole situation.
“Err…. I should get goi…..” He didn’t let me finish talking before he got up from the chair and strolled out of sight. Just like that, no explanation, nothing. He just got up and left. Again.
I followed after him with my eyes until he was out of sight and then turned with disbelief to look toward the maid who was still packing out the dishes.
“He… uhm might have something urgent to attend to” I must have looked at her with a questionable gaze for her to suddenly try to justify his strange move.
Absentmindedly, I nodded at her statement slowly led myself up from the chair, and followed the same route, hoping I still had in my memory, the path that would lead me out of there.
When I first met him, I thought he was reserved and at the same time easy to get along with. He proved to be just reserved but as for the second, I am starting to have a second thought about that. He just proved to me that getting on the same path with him was frankly going to be tough.
Well, to look at the bright side, at least I got Ronan who was light and easy to catch up with.
As if the morning couldn’t get any worse, I ran straight into his “Luna to be” almost knocking her off. She was at least half a foot taller than I was so I could safely say she almost knocked me off.
“Sorry, I was in a hurry…” my words died down in my throat as I raised my head to see who I had just rammed into.
Recognition danced in her eyes as she stared at my eyes. Only one thing was going through my mind at that moment. I was still in his wing, I was yet to leave his chambers. What would be my reply when she asked what I was doing here?
“You?” She uttered with a displeased tone.
“Yep me” Not knowing what to say, I just admitted to that with a firm head nod. “Good morning your Highness”
I had to gather everything in me to bring myself to greet her but despite that, she didn’t answer and instead, focused on what interested her the most at the moment.
“What the heck are you doing here?” She inquired, putting her hand protectively in front of her chest. I looked around at the guards and maids following her like a swam of bees.
“Sorry if I have stumbled in places I am not supposed to. I told you I was new here and I was trying to locate my room from outside so I found myself here. Sorry for the interruption, I will be on my way” I nodded respectfully.
I don’t know how I was able to come up with that in a short time but I was damn glad and lucky that I did because she bought my statement.
“New or not, the next time I will see you around here, you are gonna regret it. Hear me?”
