Barged In

MALIA’S POV
My stroll turned out even better than I expected and as I strolled into my room, I realized my mood was more promising than before. Perhaps, my stay in this bizarre land wouldn’t be as bad as I initially thought it would.
At least, now I have made not only one close alley but two. And they have just proved to me that not everyone is as odd as their Alpha.
With purposeful strides, I approached my bed to have a closer glimpse of what seemed to be like hips of clothing dumped on the bed.
They were indeed clothing, a whole lot of them dumped on the bed. My brows instinctively went up questionably as I stared at the clothing.
Gradually, I inched closer to the bed and began to rummage through the clothes. There were different types of gowns that were overwhelmingly too much for one person.
My confusion became more apparent as seconds passed by. A knock on the door made me jolt away from the bed to face the door. I watched closely as a maiden in the usual maid’s uniform walked in.
Her face was clad in a robotic smile as she approached where I stood.
“I see you are already foraging through the apparel” She pointed toward the clothes behind me.
“What do you expect?” I chuckled softly, trying not to come off as rude. “I came into the room and found them. They weren’t there before I walked out so of course I have to see for myself” I shrugged at the end of my statement.
“Fair enough” She nodded. “Alpha Ryder sent them. He said to ask you if there is anything you need. We need your measurements for the inners though, I can’t estimate that like I did with the gowns”
I was honestly taken aback by her words. Someone who walked out in me mid conversations is suddenly sending me gifts. I opened my mouth to speak and closed it back up again, repeating the process several times before finally settling on what to say.
“Err…. that is so thoughtful of him, I guess? The dresses are exquisite by all means and I have to hand it over to you for your pricey taste in clothing” I gathered my words carefully and responded.
“As much as I want to save up the credits for myself, I will have to be honest with you. Alpha Ryder chose each and every one of these clothes himself and I was just made to deliver them to you”
“Oh,” I exclaimed in shock.
“Yeah,” She smiled, this time genuinely.
“Thank you regardless, for delivering them to me” I smiled also and she bowed curtly and stepped out of the room, closing the door softly behind her.
I turned back to the bed only for the door to be shoved open again.
“Sorry,” She waved and peeped in this time. “Do you need my help setting them up in the closet?” She asked.
“Oh no, I will be fine. At least I will have something to engage in for the time being” I commented. She nodded in understanding and was out of the room for the second time again.
I spent the rest of the afternoon getting the clothes organized to my satisfaction in the walk-in closet. He does have an expensive taste in clothing.
As much as I wanted to wave away the topic from my head and not start on anything, I couldn’t help but dive into it at some point. Why would he do this? Spend a fortune from not only his money but also his time to pick these dresses for me?
I rummaged through my brain for any possible reason but ended up coming up with none. He was the one who saved me from the prick of the dead, brought me back, and welcomed me into his home. If anyone should be repaying him, it should be me.
“Why then did he go ahead and continue doing the good deed even though he knew there was no way I could repay him? Or did he have some sort of plan?” All these questions kept popping into my head as I decided on what to wear for my dinner date with my newly found friend. Should I even call that a date? We just met.
Shrugging, I went for the exotic green-colored evening gown and put the navy blue one back on the rack. I strolled out of the walk-in closet and dumped it on the bed before walking into the bathroom.
I had no idea what time of the evening he would be arriving but seeing as the sun had already started diving away from the sky, it was best if I got ready and waited for him instead of having him wait for me. That might be a bit awkward.
In a jiffy, I took my bath and took my time to brush through my hair and styled it with the bands I found in the bathroom closet. I was making an effort to look good because I always feel good when I do.
When I was satisfied with how my hair looked, I dropped the hair dryer wrapped myself in a knee-length towel, and stepped out of the room.
My heart almost ripped off my cage as I footed out of the bathroom and saw a figure sitting on the bed. I almost yelled out in terror but managed to stop myself just in time as I recognized who it was.
With a scowl, I continued to stare at him while he sat there patiently waiting. What was he doing here? I made a mental note to have the maid give me a key to this room as I couldn’t bear having people just barging in on me like that. Be it his place or whatever, he couldn’t just walk into a room unannounced.
As if he heard my thought, his gaze shifted away from the door toward me and suddenly I was very much aware of the only piece of clothing encircling me.
