Rogues

Malia’s POV
Escaping had to be the hardest thing that I’ve done in the last few years and I couldn’t help but run as far as my legs could carry me. I didn’t have my wolf to help me with stamina. All I could think of was how to get out of this godforsaken place. It was unhealthy for me.
I dodged behind many trees to escape the border patrol guards and finally, I snuck out to the forest.
Running through the forest was the worst thing that I could pass through. My legs were shaking due to the intensity of the run.
I refused to wait. This was a dangerous turf and only the fittest could survive. Being without a wolf made me an easy prey and target and heaven forbid that I stayed here without protection.
Having no direction, I decided to move as my instincts led me. I came to the crossroads. Going left would take me to the next pack. I had forgotten the name of the pack. That was roughly a two-hour journey on foot.
I could pretend to be lost. I just hoped that no one would recognize me because that would cause a damnation. They might think that I was here to spy on their pack hence kicking me out. This was what one got for not having friends.
I was so wrapped up in the bubble of our love that I forgot to actually live and mingle with others. Well never again. I promised myself.
I continued on my journey when I decided to take a short break. I was exhausted. I wasn’t sure that I had ever walked this long distance therefore, talk more of running so far.
I napped underneath a tree. I would have returned to my pack if not for the fact that Zane would find a way to look for me there and drag me back.
I’d rather starve in the wild than go back to that godforsaken place because that meant that I’d automatically accept to be ridiculed all the days of my life which was not going to happen.
Two minutes into Dreamland, I heard a twig snap, echoing throughout the forest and I stilled. Someone was here.
I jumped on my feet immediately and turned to see who it was.
No one was in sight. Goodness, me and I couldn’t sniff them out. I turned 360 degrees but was still unable to get the person who just walked in.
I heard a hiss and I knew what it was, Rogues.
Goddamn it! I bolted through the forest, and I heard the pounding of footsteps behind me. They were obviously in their wolf forms. I made the mistake of turning to see who it was and saw ten wolves if not more than chasing me.
Making use of my senses, I turned to the left, I heard a creek flowing. I was a good swimmer, I could easily enter into that space and come out unscathed.
They must have realized my intention because the chase became hotter and I could my lungs trying to expel from my chest. Adrenaline was fully pumped in my body and I was busy flying through the trees too.
I was getting close to the creek when I turned again to get a glimpse of what was happening and what did I see?
A wolf rammed into me and I fell over, landing on a log lying carelessly. Shit! I felt my bones break.
In a split second, I was surrounded by many people. My heart was racing more than a speedboat. “Who are you?” I challenged them as I tried to stand slowly. If there was one thing I had come to discover, it was the fact that a lot of people weren’t that confident to confront issues and that was the first way to overcome a lot of situations.
“She speaks. What a bold kitten we have here.” A man said. His voice echoed through the forest again.
Great, I was in a deep shit. Well, I couldn’t die here, I had to find a way to escape from here.
“Tell me what are you doing passing through my territory? Didn’t your mother warn you not to play in the woods? A big wolf might kill you.” He taunted me and I glared at him.
He bared his fangs at me and I moved backward. His teeth were yellowish brown, smelling like a sewage of ten years. What the hell? I thought. I didn’t know that I wrinkled my nose until I felt a flick.
“Are you looking down on us princess?” He inquired in a calm tone which I knew belied his intention. He was probably seeking the best way to tear me apart or worse use me as his slave.
He crouched and reached for my chin, I jerked backward and he grabbed my chin forcefully. “You must think that you’re special.” He said and stroked my chin through the second hand.
Saying that I was repulsed was an understatement for the way my skin crawled. ” She’s pretty guys, what say you? Let’s take her back to my cave and have our way with her.”
My eyes widened at the degeneracy that spewed out of their mouth. “The hell are you doing that!” I refuted and a slap echoed in the forest. My face was burning at this point but I refused to allow that deter me. “That’s wickedness! Let me go!” I tried to yank my arm out of his grip to no avail.
My dress came apart in one minute and my eyes widened. Flight or fight kicking him as he lay atop me. “Get off me!” I screamed as his head lowered towards mine.
Goddess! I was scared at this point. This was a violation. I kneed him in the jewels and he clutched them. I rolled out from under him and bolted.
“Now the game is over, tell me what can you do now?” The stupid rogue said.
“Let the lady go.” Another voice countered.
