Marshall got Clara’s call when he got off work in the afternoon.
Clara directly said, “The café across the road.”
Marshall paused and turned to the café.
But he can’t really say anything as there were reflections of light on the windows.
He thought for a while and walked towards it.
Clara wasn’t sitting by the window but in a corner.
Clara waved her hand when Marshall went in, “Here, Marshall.”
Marshall stepped towards her and sat across from Clara.
The waiter then showed up, but Marshall just waved his hand, “I’ll leave in a second.”
Clara then stared at Marshall and said, “Are you plotting something recently?”
Marshall didn’t try to hide anything from her, “Right, we’re working on something.”
Clara laughed, “It’s about the Hendersons, isn’t it?”
Marshall stared at Clara, ” I didn’t get the time to tell you this before, but the person that I hired as a spy in the casino was nearly beaten to death by your grandpa’s men. This is out of my control. The hospital just called the police after that person was admitted.”
Clara nodded and acted like she didn’t care it a bit, “Right.”
She then giggled, “It’s all right, Marshall. I’m not here to question you. I just want to know how far are you in the process. I actually want to end this as soon as possible.”
Marshall was a bit surprised, “You want to leave?”
Clara leaned against the chair and let out of a long breath, “The Hendersons don’t actually need me right now and I don’t have to be here and be in troubles with them. My mom would go insane if something happens to me.”
She got a good point.
Marshall nodded, “If you are thinking like this, I advise you should leave as soon as possible. Now that police are in the picture, I’m not in control anymore. Anything can blow up at any time.”
Clara gazed at Marshall and looked complicated.
Marshall asked directly, “Do you want to say anything else?”
Clara got serious and asked in a long time, “Marshall, have you ever second-thought your decision when you are fighting against our family? For the sake of our engagement and our friendship? Have you ever thought of letting us go on this one?”
Marshall smiled, “When are you still asking this dumb question at this time?”
He didn’t answer her question directly, but Clara had known the answer clearly.
Clara san through her hair with her fingers and responded, “Okay, got it.”
The conversation just ended here.
Clara stood up, “I will go home then. Katherine is waiting for me back at home. She would lesson me if I come home late.”
Clara was putting away her phone and was about to stand up, but when she heard Marshall’s words, she stopped.
Clara sighed, “Marshall, you have no heart.”
Marshall didn’t answer and just left the café.
He went across the road and got on the car and just drove away without any hesitation.
Standing by the door of the café, Clara looked at him pulling away.
What on earth did she do in her previous life? How can she fall in love with such a man?
And what good things did Katherine do in her former life? How on earth can she be deeply loved by such a man?
After sorting out of everything, Clara started planning her escape route. She really wanted to leave this place.
She suddenly wanted to go abroad. There was a country that she really loved and she longed to study abroad and experience the carefree school life.
Clara was just thinking about this and was not sure in the beginning, but she really felt suffocated when she went back and saw her father and grandfather’s look.
Nobody would love this kind of life.
Someone was gone but someone was still trapped,
Clara was really sick of her life and just disappeared in about a week.
Well, the Hendersons revealed to the public that she just disappeared. She actually went abroad and nobody can find her even with the Hendersons’ power. She called Marshall for help and Marshall was willing to help her to escape.
Katherine also knew about this, because for Katherine, this was a good thing. After all, Clara was her former rival and she would love to see the woman who was once in love with her husband going away.
Therefore, Marshall send Clara away after getting Katherine’s approval.
The Hendersons went south shortly after Clara left.
Katherine firstly got the news from the news on TV.
Kyle called her early in the morning and asked if she had read the news.
Katherine hurriedly grabbed her phone and scrolled through all the news today.
It was reported that a private factory in the suburbs was trading illegally and the police had a raid and tracked down a hefty amount of prohibited goods.
Katherine read all the news and wanted to know the exact information about the contrabands, but she failed to find it.
Katherine was a bit sleepy before, but instantly got clear-minded after reading the news.
She hurriedly called Kyle.
Kyle immediately picked it up and giggled before Katherine got to say anything, “Did you read the news? Are you happy or excited?”
Katherine stopped Kyle and asked, “Kyle, tell me what exactly happened. The news didn’t really cover the whole story clearly. I’m really confused.”
Kyle hissed, “How can you not to understand it? It’s pretty clear.”
Then he continued, “The underground casino that the Hendersons was running was reported of having illegal products and the police really found some there.”
Katherine asked, “What illegal goods?”
Kyle chuckled, “Well, do you remember the time that Rosie went to search my club? Well, that casino housed everything that she intended to raid out.”
Katherine thought for a while and was taken aback.
No way! How can they be so bold?
“Was Marshall part of this plan?” Katherine suddenly asked.
Kyle hesitated, “Well, he is your husband. You can just ask him, but he really contributed a lot in this raid. The Hendersons is really in a mess right now. They are already so rich. How can they be so greedy? Well, greed was one of human’s original sins. They would be investigated by the police soon.”
Katherine nodded, “Will the Hendersons be destroyed this time?”
Kyle answered, “Well, sort of, but not entirely. They are quite powerful, but still, they would take a huge toll. They would suffer from this accident for a long time to come.”
Katherine thought that Mr. Henderson and old Mr. Henderson might be imprisoned.
She can only say that Clara made a good choice by staying out of their illegal business.
Marshall didn’t come back until late in the night.
He looked quite travel-worn and weary and was serious.
His face immediately softened when he saw Katherine sitting on the sofa waiting for him with her eyes closed.
Katherine sensed that Marshall came back and instantly went sober.
“You are back!” Katherine immediately stood up.
Marshall hugged her waist and kissed her on the forehead, “How come that you are still waiting for me this late? You are pregnant now and got to be careful.”
“You are part of the Hendersons’ downfall, right? Otherwise, they wouldn’t have sabotaged this quickly.” Katherine asked.
Marshall had no choice but to admit.
“Is it all over then? Clara’s father and grandfather are not easy to deal with.” Katherine was afraid that Marshall might be endangered.
Marshall knew what Katherine was worried about and explained, “Don’t worry. All the people involved in this case have been arrested. The Hendersons is in a mess right now and is incapable of fighting with me. I wouldn’t go this far if they aren’t so greedy.”
Katherine suddenly thought of something and sighed, “The Hendersons is so rich and powerful. Why would they take the risk of doing something illegal then?”
Marshall hugged Katherine tightly, “It’s about people. Some people are just insatiable.”
Katherine heaved a sigh and didn’t say anything.
Marshall urged, “Okay, let’s go upstairs and have a rest. You are pregnant now and can’t stay up late.”
Katherine was touched and had no choice but to go upstairs.
After this accident, the Hendersons was severely battered and dared not to scheme Marshall. Right now, their priority is to find Clara who can inherit the family asset and lead the family.
As days went by, Katherine’s due date was near.
Kyle was dating Rosie now which Katherine was really surprises, because she thought that Rosie would think that Kyle wasn’t good enough for her.
Rosie later explained that when she went to raid the Hendersons’ hideout with Kyle that day, Kyle was injured for her. Though it wasn’t serious, Rosie was a bit moved and just slowly fell in love with him.
She was actually quite shy to mention about this and Katherine was quite happy that they ended up together.
The due date was in December and it was pretty cool that day.
The moment that Katherine was wheeled into the delivery room, all the family members were standing outside.
Frances was particularly nervous.
“Why is it taking so long? Katherine must be safe!” Frances murmured.
Khalid didn’t want her to be so worried and said, “Could you stop being so anxious? You gave birth to a baby before and knew what was going on in the room. Katherine definitely would be safe.”
Frances was irritated and glared at him, “That is exactly why I’m worried. I know how dangerous it can be. I wouldn’t have brought a baby to this world if I wasn’t in love with you!”
Khalid got a bit of shy because Frances’ sudden affection.
Frances realized what she just said and instantly blushed.
Marshall didn’t really want to disturb these two love birds and prayed Katherine to be safe.
Three hours later, a baby’s crying shoot out of the ward.
Katherine just gave birth to a boy.
Katherine was a bit exhausted when the nurse held the baby to her and instantly beamed.
“Kathy, thank you.” Marshall came in and held Katherine’s hand and said gently.
Katherine met his eyes and love filled their eyes.
