Savannah’s POV
An hour later the game of the last day was set. As today is the final play, the elders wanted to make it kind of memorable and a little dangerous too. Shiny wanted to join it but I pushed her out of the way before listing my name while Shiny was sulking like a kid.
“Are you sure you want to join it? Today’s game is kind of dangerous” Devak frowned.
“Why not? Besides, danger is always challenging” I shrugged my shoulders.
“I was just worried about you,” Devak groaned.
“Come on, why are you trying to stop her? A wolf will never be strong if one doesn’t take challenges and fight the dangers” Tanea butt in.
“I know but she is….”
“Do you want us to show that Snow Moon could not take the challenge because it’s dangerous?” Tanea frowned “dad will scold you to death”
I rolled my eyes. Tanea is really something. She knows exactly where she should hit.
Devak looked at me then to her before sighing “it was not what I meant. Fine” he turned to me “I was not stopping you, it’s just I was worried about your safety”
I smiled at him. My brother is always so protective but this is something that awakened my emotions and warmed my heart. This is the reason why I love him so much.
“I will be fine, okay? Besides, it’s just a game, not a life or death situation. Nothing will happen to me” I said softly.
He nodded “okay, call me if you sense something dangerous”
“Okay” I grinned.
“You look so happy” Tanea smiled at me.
“I am” I nodded my head “I still can’t believe today is the last day and we are about to leave this hunting event”
“This year was quite faster than the last one. I mean, it started earlier and is ending soon too. The last time I went was quite long, ” Tanea shrugged.
“Is it?” I frowned “they changed the timing and rules?”
“Not everything,” she laughed.
“Why are you laughing so hard?” Devak asked which made Tanea roll her eyes.
“Now I can’t even laugh?”
“Hey, that’s not what I mean. What made you laugh like that?”
“Your sister made me laugh. Happy?” Tanea forced out a tight smile.
“Okay, stop you two” I interjected between them “don’t start your arguments here because I need some peace of mind”
“I am gonna check on something” saying that he left us. Tanea gazed at his back before sighing loudly.
“You two are still arguing?”
“Yeah” she nodded her head.
“What happened? You both are not like this” I frowned.
“It’s not like that” Tanea shook her head “your brother is kind of argh… he is so arrogant that sometimes he thinks so highly of himself and don’t want to listen to my words”
I chuckled “but you two still couldn’t help but stick together?”
Tanea rolled her eyes “talk about that to your brother who couldn’t keep his hands to himself” she hissed at the end.
I smirked “are you complaining darling?”
Suddenly Tanea blushed which made me laugh. Oh god, she definitely could not help herself in this matter. I mean, she is his mate and no matter how much the human form gets angry she can’t deny the emotions of her wolf when her mate is around her. It’s not possible.
Tanea was about to say when an arm sneaked around my waist “it’s time”
I looked up and found Hardwick looking down at me “already?”
He nodded “they are already there” he gestured to the side.
“Wait, who am I going to challenge?”
“Dark forest” he replied shortly.
My eyes widened. “Why them?”
“What? You don’t want it?”
“It’s not that. It’s just I didn’t expected it the first opponent of mine will be your pack”
“Our pack” he corrected “you are my mate, so there’s no mine nor yours, everything that is related to us will be ours. Understand?”
I nodded “yes”
“Good, now come on, the game is about to start and you need to be there with everyone” saying he pulled me towards the game ground.
“I am nervous,” I muttered under my breath.
“Don’t be, if you don’t want it then you can just skip it”
I shook my head “I can’t drop it right now. I have already reached to this point and not gonna drop it until the game ends”
“So stubborn” he leaned down and kissed my cheek. “Since you are so interested then go for it. I will be there watching you”
I smiled at him. This man knows how to warm my heart, even without doing anything.
Soon the elders appeared and gave their speech about the last day’s game. The game was planned to compete between two selected teams who are going to face each other. The game is to shoot dagger to your opponent without causing any harm and pierce the target set behind them. For that there’s only one time opportunity and if lost then it will be losing the face before your pack. The elders explained it clearly and also pushed the pressure not to harm your opponent.
Excitedly I stood at certain feets away from the target and prepared for the game. To my surprise it was Daisy who will be my opponent today. I don’t know why but this girl is too weird. She does not have any pleasant aura around her but it’s more like a dark and cold aura like she is trying to scare anyone who gets closer to her. The elders chose to use coin tossing to see who’s gonna get the first chance, after the toss I got the first chance to shoot. One of the elders gave a dagger which has sharp points and some flowery design at the bottom giving a good look. I took a breath and aimed at the target. Daisy looked at me with cold glare. I frowned at her but didn’t let my focus slip from my target. Once the signal came I threw the dagger at the target. In a swift moment the dagger flew past Daisy and pierced the target in the middle. The people around me cheered with a loud clap.
Tanea raised her hands showing me her thumb sign. I smiled, shaking my head. Once my time is done, it’s not Daisy’s turn to take the action. Like me she was also given a dagger. I stood before the target looking at her. Daisy lazily picked the dagger then aimed at me. There was something in her eyes that flashed suddenly before the corner of her lips hooked up and she smirked at me. I frowned at her and before I knew she threw the dagger towards me. But the tip of the dagger was not pointing towards the target behind me rather it was pointing towards me. My eyes widened in shock and quickly moved my body as the dagger passed by my chest, almost scratching it. My heartbeat raced as I saw the dagger fall to the ground. I can hear the gasping in the background.
What was that? I turned my head to look at Daisy who was clenching her fist and glaring at the dagger. I felt an arm sneaking around my waist and my body was pulled into a warm embrace.
“You okay?” Hardwick’s concerned voice filled my ear.
“Yeah” I nodded, heaving a sigh.
“Sav ” Devak and Tanea ran towards me followed by Jion and Shiny.
“Are you okay?” Devak asked, running his gaze through my body. I nodded my head.
“What’s with that girl? Is she trying to kill you?” Shiny barked, turning her head and glaring at Daisy.
“Looks like I was not cleared myself last time” Hardwick whispered as he looked towards Daisy.
“Take her to the tent, I will clear the mess here” he said again.
Immediately Devak held my hand and led me towards my tent. I turned my head to look at Hardwick who was striding towards Daisy with heavy steps. The aura around him changed into a cold and dark one.
What’s actually happening? And why does Daisy want to kill me? Why does she have so much hatred towards me?
