Reese’s POV
I walked inside and found Avan talking on the phone. He was only wearing his boxers and his back was facing me. Seeing his hard body and muscles I blushed. No matter how much I have seen him naked but still his nude form managed to make me blush. I was wearing my thin black night dress which only ends on my thigh giving a good look of my legs. I slowly walked towards him.
“Yes, of course. There will be no problem” he said on the phone.
I sighed and hugged him from behind. I love this man so much that the mere thought of him being away from me scares me. I will never let him go, no matter what. Avan turned around, cutting the call.
“Reese?”
“Avan” I looked up with my seductive eyes.
“Why are you here?” He asked.
“Can’t I come to meet you?” I looked at him then smiled “My tent is cold, I don’t like it. Can I sleep here tonight?”
Avan frowned “cold?”
I nodded “yes, you know that I don’t like cold” I put my hand on his chest and trailed it over his hard muscles.
Avan grabbed my wrist “fine, you can stay here. But I have work to do so I am going out” he said then pushed me a little before grabbing his pants and shirt.
I frowned at him. What happened to him suddenly? Last night he was so romantic and even fucked me till dawn but today he is deliberately avoiding me even though I am trying to seduce him. I walked to him.
“Avan, you are working too hard. Aren’t you tired?” I touched his shoulder as he sat on bed wearing his pants.
“It’s important,” he replied shortly. I clenched my fist but smiled at him.
“You are always this busy. Taking all the work and fulfilling all the responsibility. I am just worried it will exhaust you. Why don’t you just rest with me tonight, so that you can relax your body?”
He looked up and stared at me for sometime before wearing his shirt “thanks for your concern Reese, but you should know, I am an Alpha now and there’s some matters of pack that needed my attention and no matter what I just couldn’t ignore this” he got up “you should rest early” then without any other words he walked out of the tent leaving me alone.
I looked at his back before clenching my jaw so tightly till it hurt. He is now ignorant again. Why? Last night he was like a beast tormenting me in every way possible but now he just avoided me like I am kind of sin. What mom said was right, I couldn’t let it happen again and again. I can’t let him think about me for a second time and then leave me when he gets bored. I couldn’t let that happen. Avan is mine and he has to stay mine whether he likes it or not. I need to proceed with my plan first before it’s too late to take any action.
I walked out of the tent and was about to head towards mine when suddenly a hand pulled me away. I was dragged to the side corner. Once I saw who it was my blood boiled with anger.
“Why were you at Alpha’s tent at this late time?” John frowned as he looked at me. I shook off his hand angrily.
“I told you already, what I do is my personal matter and has nothing to do with you”
“You are my mate. Did you forget it already?”
I gritted my teeth “mate or not, I don’t care”
His face turned dark as he glared at me “what the hell are you talking about?” Then he looked at my body “you went to Alpha late at this night wearing a fucking revealing night dress”
I rolled my eyes “what I wear is my concern. Who are you to lecture me about it?”
“I am you mate you” he almost growled “do I need to remind you every time”
I laughed “mate? A beta?”
“Why? What does that have to do with me being the beta?”
“I don’t want to be a mate of beta. I don’t want to become your mate and live my life under the pressure of Luna” I replied through gritted teeth.
John frowned at first then his eyes roamed over my body again. His eyes went wide as he stared at me in disbelief “you, you went to his tent to seduce him?”
I didn’t reply but stared at him.
He shook his head before running his fingers on his hair “you really wanted to seduce your Alpha because you want to become his Luna? Fuck, you are not even his mate” he snapped.
“You don’t need to interfere in my matter. What I want to do or will do has nothing to do with you” I almost screamed at him.
His eyes flashed with dark glint as he glared at me. John is tall compared to me. My full height just reached upto his shoulder so he looked down at me. There’s no warmth or tenderness in those eyes like before. Suddenly my heart clenched tightly.
“I thought I had found my mate, I was happy at the thought but I never expected that my mate will be someone like you. Unruly and shameless” he spat angrily.
I felt something pierced my heart. Whether I like it or not, he was my mate. The person who was destined for me. But the position he held was not something I wanted. Since childhood I was told that the one who has great power can only be happy in life and that was the time I have decided to grab power. And John does not have that thing. But Avan does, he is the Alpha and once my plan gets successful, what I want will be in my grasp. Thinking about all this I tightened my aim and heart.
“You” John shook his head “I couldn’t believe I got you as my mate. Fucking hell” he punched the tree near him angrily. He turned around and glared at me with his anger filled eyes “for a woman who can climb into the bed of someone else who is not even her mate just to get some title is nothing but a greedy bitch. You can never be someone’s mate, do you know why? Because you are worse than a slut who uses her body to climb stairs for power. Your greed is so high that ordinary people could not reach it. Fuck, I regret the day I met you. To know a person like you is the wasting of time and efforts”
My eyes suddenly brimmed with tears. No one had ever cursed me like this. No one ever used such languages to talk to me. But the one who is doing this was my mate. I couldn’t force any words as I just stared at him.
“It was my bad luck that I was paired with you. I would never accept such slut as my mate who couldn’t wait to fuck other man. Hell” John cursed, shaking his head. He turned around and paced for a while like thinking what to do next. I blinked the tears that were threatening to fall. This will be for the best isn’t it? I have already given my virginity and my heart to Avan as for my mate, I have nothing to give him.
“We could have been happy together. We were destined but you ruined everything. It’s all your fault” he accused again but there’s pain in his eyes that stayed for a moment. “Since you are so addicted to sleeping with your Alpha then it will be better to stay with him as his slut. I will free myself from this bond. Bonding with you is nothing but a curse for me and now I will free you from this bond so that you can proceed with your greedy need” he clenched his jaw as he glared at me with his dark eyes.
My chest tightened as my heart started to beat faster. I knew what’s coming after this. This is going to be all over after this.
John stared at me for sometime as something flashed in his eyes before he closed it and shook his head. He opened his eyes and there’s was nothing but emptiness ” I, John Smith, reject you Reese as my mate”
A sudden forceful wave barged inside my chest as it started to burn. I held my chest trying to ease the pain. This is rejection pain. My wolf whimpered in pain. My knees went soft and I couldn’t help but fall on the ground. John shook his head as a pained expression crossed his face before turning around and leaving the place. While I sat there clutching my chest as the burning started to increase more.
“This is all for you Avan, all for you” I mumbled as I closed my eyes trying to endure the pain.
“It’s all for – ” I couldn’t complete the line as my vision blurred and my mind went black. I felt my body fall backward.
