Chapter 38 One Fight Is Enough

“You’re angry, Jerald, and you have every right to be, but just think about this for a second before making a hasty decision.” Silver said.
“There’s nothing to think about. Do you all remember what he called his mate before he even found her? An extra fuck buddy.” Jerald said and Carson flushed with guilt.
“He’s not even planning to be faithful to their bond, I won’t allow that, I won’t let him treat her like a hot piece of ass. She deserves better, way better.” Jerald continued.
“I agree with you, but rejecting a mate is serious business. It leaves a void that none other can fill, it’s like cutting off a part of yourself.” Keith said.
“She’ll be fine, they haven’t done anything, they haven’t been bonded yet. If they had, their scents would have changed and they would have mating marks.” Jerald said.
“She’ll be mostly fine because she’ll be the one doing the rejecting, but what about him?”
“I don’t give a shit about him. I hope it burns his very soul when he’s rejected, maybe after that he’ll become less of a manwhore.”
“He has a pack, Jerald. His hurt will become theirs, it may ruin his pack forever.” Keith said.
“You talk like you know how it feels.” Margaret said and Keith sighed.
“I do. It was a long time ago, I was a teenager. I just came of age and had more pride than I knew what to do with, and I was officially named the Alpha of the pack. I met my mate after the ceremony, but she rejected me. She had a right to do that, I was a major asshole, but it almost broke me. I almost went feral, and my pack was destabilised because the Alpha bond I had formed with them was still new, not solid enough to take a hit that bad and withstand it. The only thing that brought me back was the instinct to protect my pack, keep us together so the rogues wouldn’t destroy us all. I had to fix my shit for their sake, but not everyone is as strong as that.”
“We all know and agree that Carson is a major pain in the ass, but If his pack is destabilised, it will affect the rest of us too. We need to be one unit to be able to face the threat to all our lives.” Thomas said.
“And he might be an asshole, but he won’t hurt her.” Hayden said.
“How sure are you?” Jerald asked with an exasperated sigh.
“It might take a little getting used to on both their parts, but he’ll come around eventually, trust me on that.” Hayden replied.
Jerald looked at Lynn who had Carson’s arms wrapped around her from behind and his face nuzzling hers. Jerald growled as the scent of Carson and Lynn’s arousal tickled his nostrils. He made a move towards them but Silver held him back.
“It’s normal for their mating instincts and pheromones to be stronger and more potent, their wolves want them to complete the bonding process. Why don’t we all sleep on this, then we’ll talk more tomorrow.” Silver said and Jerald sighed in resignation.
“Fine.”
Carson began to pull Lynn away from the group to take her to his room but Jerald growled angrily.
“Don’t even fucking think about it, you’re both sleeping in separate rooms. Lynn, go to your room.”
Lynn looked at Jerald defiantly as she spoke.
“I’m an adult, Jerald. I’ve been quiet for a while so you can work out your anger. But, I can decide for myself.”
“To your room, now! And don’t leave there till I call for you.” Jerald said and Lynn froze.
He hadn’t just ordered her to, he used his Alpha command. Alphas could order wolves in their packs to do things against their will, but they only used it for severe cases. Lynn glared at Jerald with a look of betrayal in her eyes as her body moved her away from Carson’s grip and to her room.
“You shouldn’t have done that, she will be livid.” Margaret said to Jerald and he sighed with a look of remorse on his face.
“I’m falling apart here, cut me some slack.” Jerald replied to her and then faced Carson.
“And you, if you’re even 20 feet from her room, I will fucking kill you. Stay away from her tonight till we decide what to do about this clusterfuck later.” Jerald said and left.
“You know he’s right though. You don’t deserve her.” Vance said to Carson after a few minutes.
“And who exactly is better? You?” Carson scoffed.
“I’m better than you at least, if not anyone else.” Vance replied.
“Does Jerald know you have a crush on his sister?” Carson asked with a scowl.
“It’s more than a crush, I love her.” Vance said and Carson growled.
“She’s mine now.”
“Jerald knows, and so does she. The only reason we’re not together anymore is because the mate bond wasn’t there between us when she came of age.” Vance continued speaking like Carson hadn’t spoken at all.
“Anymore? You both dated?” Carson’s voice took on that deep, husky tone that showed that his wolf was close to the surface and really pissed.
“What do you think?” Vance said with a smirk. “And why do you care? She’s just an extra fuck buddy, right? I’m sure you won’t mind sharing her.”
“SHE’S MINE!” Carson growled as he pinned Vance to the closest wall.
“She may be your mate, but I was her first everything. I’m the one who knows what she tastes like, what she sounds like when she…”
“SHUT THE FUCK UP!” Carson growled as he tossed Vance to the floor.
Vance just laughed and picked himself up as he spoke.
“You’re going to mess this up because that’s what you do, you never take anything seriously. And I’ll be waiting for you to do that, Carson, so I can have her, and make her mine. I’ll treat her like a queen because she deserves that and more.”
“One fight is enough for tonight.” Hayden stepped in as Carson moved to throw a punch.
Vance turned away and left them there.
“And you better not go to her room tonight, Jerald wasn’t bluffing, he will really kill you.” Thomas said as he held Margaret’s hand.
“He can try.” Carson growled as he stomped off, but he didn’t go to Lynn’s room, he went to his.
