Derek was taking a shower when he sensed someone at his room door. Then he heard his door opening without a knock. His wolf was calm so it meant that whoever entered his room wasn’t a threat, but the person was concealing their scent so he couldn’t immediately make out who it was.
“Get your ass out here.” She said and Derek sighed. Now he knew who it was.
He turned off the shower and stepped out of the bathroom with a towel around his waist. Water dripped from his hair, down his rock hard body, and Silver’s gaze followed the droplets down his body and back up again. If it was another she wolf looking at him like that, he wouldn’t hesitate to pull her closer and taste her lips. Five minutes from now, the only sounds that would have been heard in the room would have been moans of ecstasy as he thrust into her over and over till they were both sated.
But this wasn’t just any other she wolf, this was Silver. And even though he hadn’t confirmed what was going on between her and the Alpha, he knew he would end up dead if he touched her sexually. Having inappropriate thoughts about her was a risk on it’s own.
“What are you doing here, Silver? Are you trying to get me into trouble, or worse, killed?” Derek asked with a frown and folded his arms.
“Don’t be silly, Derek.” she rolled her eyes and sat on the bed.
“You need to leave, Silver.”
“You still owe me nights of board games, and I’m here to collect.” She replied as she set the game set on the bed beside her.
“Another time, Silver. Preferably when it’s daylight and there are other wolves around.”
“Why? We’re not doing anything wrong or forbidden? Are we?” she asked.
“You tell me, Silver. Are we doing anything we shouldn’t be doing?” he asked with an arched brow.
“Nope. So get dressed and get over here so I can beat your ass at this game again.”
“Nothing? Really? Because I’m confused about why Alpha Hayden is acting territorial with you.”
“He’s just an overbearing asshole, that’s why.”
“He has never been like that before you came. And he’s only irrational when it concerns you.”
“And your point is?”
Derek sighed then took a deep breath before asking…
“Are you… sleeping with him?”
“You mean am I fucking your precious Alpha Hayden? The answer is no.”
“Then why does he …”
“If you’re going to just ask silly questions all night long, then coming here was a bad idea after all. I might as well go back to my room and play the game by myself.” Silver cut him off before he could complete his question.
Derek just sighed and walked to his closet to get his clothes, then he returned to the bathroom to get dressed. He came out minutes later wearing loose fitting sleep clothes.
“Are you going to play with me? Or are you going to give me another lecture on what’s wrong and what’s not?” Silver asked and he sighed.
“Fine, I’ll play.” he said and sat on the bed with her.
“Don’t act like I’m forcing you to commit a crime. We’re not even breaking your Alpha’s stupid rule. He said you shouldn’t go to my room, right? Well, he didn’t say I couldn’t come to yours. And even if he did, I wouldn’t listen to him because he is not the boss of me. He wouldn’t even think about ordering me around like that, I would rip out his balls.”
“You’re so violent.” Derek chuckled.
And that was why he didn’t bother telling her that his Alpha had warned him not just to stay out of her room, but to stay away from her completely. If she knew that, she would be extremely pissed off and all hell would break loose.

Hayden tried to work, but he kept thinking about Silver and Derek. They looked good together. If it wasn’t for the fact that they were each other’s second chance mates, he was almost sure that Silver would have picked Derek. It annoyed him how easily the both of them had become friends. He hated it when Silver smiled because of Derek, or when they both had fun together. He hated it because it made him feel even more guilty. It made him realize just how horrible he was treating her, and how easy it would be to lose her to another male. If Silver and Derek mated and marked each other, it wouldn’t matter that he was her second chance mate, all she had to do was say the words of rejection to him.
He knew he was just being paranoid, if Silver wanted to reject him, she would have already done so. It would be less that he deserved for his misdeeds. But she was giving him a chance to right his wrongs, and he was misusing it. He needed to get his act together, not just for the sake of his wolf, but for the sake of the quest and all the packs.
Hayden decided that the first step to correcting his errors would be to apologize to Derek. He knew that he had overreacted. Nothing had happened between the both of them, and they didn’t seem to have any plans to get together. He left his room, and walked to Derek’s room. He was close to the door when he realized that he could sense Silver, and then he heard her voice coming from Derek’s room.
Hayden clenched his fists as his vision went hazy with fury. Every decision he had made for atonement evaporated from his mind after being burned by his volcanic rage. Why was Silver in Derek’s room? Had they been meeting behind his back all this time? He turned around and returned to his room before he would do something stupid… like barge into the room and unleash his wolf on Derek and rip him to shreds.

“Silver! Silver, wake up!” Mara’s panicking voice broke through her slumber.
“Alpha Hayden is going to kill Derek.”
