She moved to the side of the cavern and began to climb.
“Please be careful Maggie.” Thomas said.
“I’m okay Tommy, I saw something here.” She said as she reached between the rocks and diamonds to retrieve a glazed stone.
“That doesn’t look like what we’re supposed to be looking for.” Carson said as she came down and showed it to them.
“Things are not always what they appear, I just have a strong feeling about this. And the mountain hasn’t come down on us yet, so it’s a good sign right?” She said.
“Yeah, it is.” Thomas said as he put his hand over hers that held the stone. Suddenly, the cavern began to glow again, and it seemed like the stone she held absorbed all the light in the cavern. It popped to reveal the most beautiful gem of all the diamonds in the cavern, and the others stopped glowing.
“Wow. Now that looks like what we’re supposed to find.” Carson said.
“What do we do now? Are we just supposed to take it and leave?” He asked.
“And how exactly are we supposed to leave? I’m pretty sure we dropped about a thousand feet below ground level to get down here.”
“I will show you the way out when it’s time.” A voice said from the gem, and a beautiful woman with dark skin, white hair, and white eyes materialized from the light it was radiating.
“You’re my mother.” Margaret said.
“Yes my child, I am.”
“How can I recognize you when I don’t remember you? And why can’t I remember anything from my past?” She asked the woman.
“Your memories were taken for a reason my dear, and they will return to you at the right time.”
“When is the right time? I want my memories back. I hate not knowing who I am, where I’m from, if I have any family looking for me?”
“Patience dear, patience. All will be revealed in time.”
“You’re the voice that has been repeating the prophecy in our dreams.” Hayden said.
“Yes, I had to warn all of you of the impending danger, make sure you understand that it’s of the utmost importance. We do not have much time left.”
“You’re the Oracle that we were supposed to find.” Thomas said.
“Yes, I am. I am to be your guide. This is where the real journey to saving your packs begin. And for you to understand fully, I will tell you the tale that started it all.
Long ago, there were ten packs, not seven as there are now. I’m sure you already know this.
New moon pack.
Crescent moon pack.
Half moon pack.
Full moon pack.
Blue moon pack.
Blood moon pack and
Dark moon pack, the existing packs.
The the war pack- the pack of warriors.
The magic pack- with the healers and sages.
The lycan pack. These have been extinct for centuries.
The magic pack exiled one of theirs for practicing dark magic and her child went with her. Her child’s name was Helena. When the girl was old enough, she sought refuge in one of the packs and they took her in, feeling she had been unjustly banished alongside her mother when she was innocent. That pack was the war pack.
They didn’t know, and even the magic pack didn’t find out till much later that the child was the real threat, not the mother.
The girl had been practicing dark magic without anyone’s knowledge and cast a spell on her mother, a controlling spell. She used her mother to access places and options she wouldn’t have been able to as a child.
And once you start practicing dark magic, it’s hard to stop because it opens your soul up to be used and inhabited by dark forces. They don’t let go of their hosts easily, and the hosts also like the power they gain.
Her reason for going to the magic pack was also malicious. She needed an Alpha’s heart for a dark spell that would consume whatever part of her soul was still good so she could become one with darkness and she chose Mason, the then Alpha of the war pack.
Mason was the only unmated Alpha, and for her spell to work, she needed the heart off an Alpha she was bonded to. She would use the soul bond of mates to transfer that part of her soul to his and then kill him.
She cast a love spell on him, and soon, he arranged for a mating ceremony. Then, it was customary for Alphas to mark their mates during a ceremony under the full moon to receive the moon’s blessing and that of the pack, then complete the bonding right after.
The day of their mating ceremony, he found his true mate and Helena’s love spell was broken.
She was waiting for him at the ceremony, when he arrived with his mate. He told her he had made a mistake and apologized to her, not knowing he had been under her spell and he was not at fault.
Enraged that her plan had been foiled, she tried to kill the new Luna and was immediately exiled. She left with a promise to return for revenge. No one took her seriously, and that was our mistake.”
