I feel my chest tightened and burn as I see Eva’s eyes water, she runs out of the room before I could stop her.
I chase after Eva but she’s already gone.
I take out my phone and text Jared to send some men after her, I shove my phone back in my pocket.
I raised my head and see Bianca glaring daggers at me, I can clearly tell she is angry.
“I’m disappointed in you, Fred” she said. “I didn’t expect this from you”
She take Roy’s hand and head towards the door.
I wanted to explain why I accepted Carissa but I know can’t, Grayson is lurking around, after all, he is my shadow.
I sighed.
This is Grayson’s plan, I know but I have to play along. I want him to feel like he’s got me where he wanted.
I turn back to Sonia or whatever her name is, she sits on a sofa with Carissa on her lap.
Carissa is innocent, she is just a pawn in this game and I feel so sorry for her, that’s why I’m not gonna make her suffer.
But I must make Grayson and Sofia beg for death.
Sofia smile at me, I also forced a smile on my face.
I carry Carissa, she keeps looking at the two pieces of pizza remaining on the table.
“You want that?” I asked her.
She nods.
I pick one and hand it to her, she smiles and take her bite.
Sonia stands up and stands in front of me, she has a look in her face, I guess she’s trying to look innocent but I swear it doesn’t suit her.
“Fred, I has a long flight and I’m feeling kinda tired, can you please show me to our room?”
“Sure! Come with me” I reply.
I take her luggage and we head upstairs, I start to interrogate her as we climb the stairs.
“So, Sofia….”
“It’s Selene” she corrects me.
I roll my eyes, as if I care about her name.
“Right, Selene…. Where have you been all these while? Why didn’t you come to me when you discovered you’re pregnant with my daughter?”
“Yeah, after our night together, I got a call from home the next morning that my dad is sick, so I rushed back.
But after two months, we couldn’t save him, he died and that’s when I discovered I was pregnant. I tried to contact you, but there’s no means.
So I just decide to wait until I deliver the baby. When Carissa was born I decided to take care of her on my own but there are some things she’d need her father for, so I had no choice but to find you. So… Here I am!”
I nod.
Everything she just said seems like a practiced speech, they doesn’t sound sincere.
And I even doubt Carissa is her daughter.
Maybe I should show her some fake sympathy.
“You’ve being through so much, sorry I wasn’t there when you needed me” I said.
“It’s nothing, you’re here now”
“Right”
I stopped at one of the guests rooms, I open the door and we step in.
She looks around and frowns a little. She turns to me, her pretentious smile on.
“Am I gonna stay here?”
“Yes”
“I thought me and you are gonna stay in the master’s bedroom”
A scowl suddenly appears on my face and I narrow my eyes.
“That room is strictly for me and my wife! You are not allowed to step foot in there!” I sneered at her.
She takes a step back.
“Ok, ok! Jeez”
I just broke my wife’s heart because of her, I can’t deprive her of her right too just for this bitch!.
She takes Carissa from me. I toss her luggage in a corner, I turn around and catch her glaring at Carissa.
I smirk as my suspicions has just be confirmed.
Carissa is not her daughter, she can’t even play her part well.
“So, I’ll excuse you and let you rest well” I said.
“Thanks for letting us in and trusting me”
You wish.
“Of course!” I said and step out.
I shut the door behind me, my phone beep and I check it’s a text from Jared.
*My men couldn’t find her*
My breath hitched.
They couldn’t find her? Where could she have gone?
I guess it’s better I go look for her myself, I head for the door but stops halfway.
I can’t go, Grayson is watching. If he sees me panicking over Eva, he’ll know I’m making a fool of him.
I reach for my phone and text him back.
*Find her by all means!*
Just then I hear thunderclaps, not long it starts raining.
I clenched my fists.
Please Eva don’t be under this rain, I know you’re hurting but I can’t tell you my plans.
I need Eva and Bianca to be clueless to make my plans more convincing.
No sleeping for me tonight.

Immediately Fred left the room, Selene pushed Carissa away from her. Luckily, Carissa lands on the bed.
She reaches out for her phone in her purse. She sent Grayson a quick text.
*Let’s meet up tomorrow,
We need to talk*
Carissa’s pizza falls from her hand on the bed, Selene picks it up and throws it across the room.
She glares at Carissa.
“You’ve stained the bed, it seems like you want to sleep on the floor” she slaps Carissa across her face.
Her fingers print shows on Carissa’s face. Carissa wanted to cry but a glare from Selene shuts her up.
“I can’t wait for this to be over and get rid of you” she said but poor Carissa doesn’t understand her.
She just kept looking at Selene with unshed tears.

Voices….
I hear people speaking in hushed voices.
I open my eyes and quickly shut them back, it’s too bright. I slowly open my eyes until I adjust to the brightness.
White ceiling is right above me, I turn my head and see white walls too. I frown in confusion.
Where am I? And how did I get here?.
I notice I’m laying on a bed, and it seems like an hospital bed.
I groan as I sit up, my head is killing me.
“Hey, Eva you’re awake!” Bree?
I’m suddenly engulfed in a tight hug, but it doesn’t last long as she quickly pull away.
“Eva, you scare the hell outta me!” She said.
“Where am I?”
“A hospital”
“A hospital? What happened? How did I end up in a hospital?”
“Jason brought you here, he was driving by when he saw you lying on ground.
How can you be so careless Eva? What were you thinking walking under that heavy rain?”
She takes my hand and rubs it gently.
“You should be extra careful now in this your condition”
What is she talking about…. Do I have some kind of disease?.
“What condition?” I asked.
Her eyes flick to my stomach before a wide grin appears on her face.
“You should take good care of yourself now that you’re pregnant”
My neck snap to her direction, my eyes grew wide, I can feel it almost bulging out of their sockets.
“What did you say?”
“I said you should be careful… ”
“No after that”
“You’re pregnant”
I shake my head.
No, I can’t be pregnant. Fred doesn’t want a baby, he’ll never accept it.
“I can’t get pregnant, I shouldn’t get pregnant!”
Aubrey frown and look at me in confusion.
“What do you mean you can’t get pregnant?”
“Where’s the doctor, call me the doctor, I need an abortion”
“Are you insane? Why are you talking about abortion?”
One, two, three…. Then it turns into water works.
I start crying. Fred made it clear to me, he doesn’t want a baby with me. He already has a child, mine will be a burden to him.
“Get me the doctor, Bree. I need an abortion!”
“Eva, what is wrong with you?”
“You don’t understand, Bree. I can’t have this baby, I can’t have it”
“Calm down, Eva. Whatever it is that is troubling you hasn’t come to aborting your baby….”
“I want to abort it!”
