He married me
but love me not
Eva
The silence in the car is soul shattering. Fred drive silently, his focus on the road, but a wicked smirk plays on his lips. Which sends bad shivers into my body, I play with my fingers nervously.
I don’t understand why I get this feeling that Fred and I coming to school at the same time won’t do me any good.
I had suggested that I’ll take the bus, but he didn’t agree.
What could be his plan?.
We’ll be arriving at another bus stop soon, maybe I should try again if he’ll stop the car.
“Ermm… F-fred?” I called him quietly, almost too quietly.
“Yes, darling!” He pass me an overly sweet smile.
I mentally shudders at his strange behavior.
“Can you stop at the next bus stop?” I asked him.
“No can do, ugly”
“But I’ll…”
“Relax… Don’t you want to show everyone how lovey dovey we are?”
Huh? We are not lovey dovey at all. Infact we are cat and mouse.
I shrink into the car seat and look outside the window. The way Fred is being sweet with me is scaring me and I honestly prefer his mean self right now more than anything else.
Soon Fred drive into our school parking lot and park in a corner. He steps out of the car and round the car to my side, he stops right in front of the door. I waited for him to open it for me, but he smirked and knock on the door.
“Are you not gonna step out or do you want to receive your lectures here?” He asked me.
I rolled my eyes and scoffed. What was I expecting? That the almighty Fred would lower himself to open the door for me?.
I open the door and step out, I flung my backpack on my shoulder and stand next to Fred.
“I think I should get to class now” I told him.
“No. We came to school together, so I’ll walk you to your class”
My class? No! Fred is popular in this university, letting him walk me to class is drawing attention to me. And one thing I hate is being center of attraction.
“Don’t bother yourself, I can walk myself” I told him.
“I love to” he said in finality, giving no room for arguments.
I sigh and start walking towards my department.
As we walk down the hallway, I try to hide my face with my hair, but the beast tuck my hair in my ear. I see heads turning to face us, gossiping and pointing fingers at us.
Fred smiled at them while I glare at him. I wish the ground would open up and swallow my whole lot.
We finally made it to my class. I stop Fred from entering with me.
“Thank you for walking me, you can go now” I told him.
“I want to watch you enter your class” he said.
Hmm. Well suit yourself. The moment I step foot in my class, I feel something cold pouring on me. I leave my mouth open in surprise, then a bucket fall on my head covering my face.
Immediately laughter erupted all over the place, but one person’s voice was the loudest.
Fred!!
I removed the bucket from my head and slowly turn around. He and his friends were laughing so hard, they were holding their stomach. I look around, everyone is pointing at me, some snapping with their phones, others recording.
I look down at myself and noticed I’m covered in blue paint. And I instantly knew who’s the mastermind behind this, it’s Fred.
That beast!!
No wonder he was being nice and gentle. I feel my cheeks turn red in embarrassment, tears welled up in my eyes.
I lock gaze with Fred before I run out of the school.
Fred
My friends and I continue laughing as ugly run out in embarrassment. This is the penalty of what she did to me last night.
“That was a good laugh. Good job guys” I said to my friends.
“But Fred don’t you think what we did is a bit too much?” Jerry asked.
Jerry is the kind one in our group and from what he just asked you can tell he’s feeling sorry for ugly.
“Nope! You don’t know the joy I derived from it” I replied.
“But you don’t even know her. She just wanted the taxi you took, so what’s the big deal?” He asked.
I almost forget that I haven’t tell my friends about my engagement with ugly. They think I’m paying her back for challenging me because of the taxi.
“You guys don’t know anything yet. Let’s go to class, I’ll tell you guys about it on the way” I told them.
We head towards our class.
“So what’s your deal with that girl?” Michael asked.
I cleared my throat.
“She’s my fiancée”
Michael and Jerry exchange looks and burst into laughter. When they noticed that I’m not laughing along, they stopped.
“Wait… You’re serious” Micheal state.
“But I thought you don’t like her type, you know… The plain Jane” Jerry said.
I smiled when I recall ugly’s reaction just now.
“I don’t” I replied.
“Then what are you still doing with her? Find a way to break off the engagement” Jerry told me.
“No. I love bully her, she makes the penthouse fun. At least she makes me anticipate what trap awaits me when I get home”
We take our seats.
“Wait… How did you two got engaged in the first place?” Michael asked me curiously.
“Well, unfortunately we’ve been engaged since childhood”
“What?! You mean it’s an arranged marriage?” Michael asked again.
“Not really, it was my choice when I was a kid. It’s complicated, but…. ”
Just then our professor walked in. I kept quiet and gave my attention to the professor.
I might be a bad boy, manwhore. But I don’t joke with my studies, funny enough I hate school.
Ironic, yeah I know.

The day wasn’t fun, it’s boring so I decided to leave school early. I bide my friends goodbye and enter my car, then I drove off.
All through the ride, I’m thinking about what ugly would be doing at home now. Maybe she’s in her room crying, cause I checked, she didn’t come back to school after running off.
That’s what she gets for messing with me.
Soon I found myself parking in my garage. I enter my penthouse and see the TV in the living room was on.
I see ugly sitting on the sofa, staring at the TV. She’s changed into a jean short and green tank top. I smiled wickedly.
“Hey! Ugly what do we have for lunch?” I asked her.
She didn’t say a word to me. She stands up and head upstairs, I follow behind her.
“Ugly, I’m talking to you. I’m hungry”
Instead of replying me, she enter her room and slammed the door shut loudly. I flinched back a little from the sound.
“Oh, silent treatment” I said to myself.
I snickers and walk into my room. I bet she’ll soon come to me asking for something.
