“Billie, put a call through to Cassandra and tell her to come here” Grey instructs his secretary who was about to exit his office after a long discussion between them.
“Ok sir, what should I tell her if she asks for the reason she is being called?”
“Tell her I already helped her investigate what she needs.”
Bill turned the door open, leaving with a nod of his head.
Minutes later…
“Dad!” Cassandra sat in the vacant space in her father’s office.
“I did what you asked me to.” Grey flung pictures in front of her which she bent to pick. “Do you have any male attendants?”
“Not many I can think of.” she picked the images and looked at them one after the other with furrowed brows.
The image was that of a guy in a black hoodie in a walking position. His face was thoroughly covered with the hood and his hands in his pocket making it unable to identify him as no part of his body was visible.
Cassandra flipped through the pictures again, but couldn’t place her hand on who it could be. “I don’t have any attendant or slave, talkless of a male attendant.”
She glanced through the pictures again, just as she was about to hand it over to Grey, her eyes caught something. In one of the pictures, the footwear the culprit was wearing caught her attention.
“Isn’t this a Wortin Limited Edition sneaker?” she asked aloud.
Grey collected the picture from her and looked at it. “Yes, It is.”
“Good. The last time I wanted to purchase this at the mall, I was told it’s only twelve that were produced and available in town. If we could go to the malls that got them from the company, we can definitely track the impersonating fool. They should have the records of their buyers.”
“That’s going to take quite a long time.”
“I don’t fucking care, I don’t care dad, we have to get this done. Fine, the situation did no harm to us, but for someone to have access to my card and impersonated me, there could be a next time and I don’t want that. He mustn’t go scot-free.”
Grey smiled in satisfaction, nodding his head with nothing but admiration, awed at his daughter’s way of thinking. Just what he wanted.
“Well, you don’t have to worry. I already asked Weapon to do it…” he checked his wristwatch before continuing, “… he should be here in the next two hours.”
“Weapon, do you still keep him?” Cassandra asked. Weapon was her dad’s trusted worker ever since she was a kid. He did most of the dirty jobs for Grey and other errands as well, without betraying Grey for a second.
Once, Cassandra was angry at her classmate in high school, she had asked her father to tell Weapon to help her deal with her classmate and Grey had told her that Weapon was no longer available.
Little Cassandra asked for the reason then, and Grey had told her that he was being punished for betrayal. Never in years did she think that her father still keeps Weapon after telling her that.
“Yes, he’s always been with me. I can’t forsake such a trusted aide of mine.”
“Why did you lie to me then?”
Gray chuckled at the question, “Think of it if Weapon had done your request, what would be the outcome? Won’t that turn out bad for our family?”
Cassandra bit her lower lip, remembering her childishness back then.
“That does not give you the chance to lie. You could have just said no to my request. Simple!”
“If I had said no, won’t you continue disturbing me until I answer you? Have you forgotten you were quite a handful during your childhood years?”
“Whatever, why are you letting him run my errands now?”
“You’re now matured and sensible. Moreover, It’s not only your errands he’s running, what happened is still a mystery and that could be detrimental to our family’s business and reputation.” Grey said and Cassandra muttered an ‘Oh’.
When Cassandra was a kid, Grey had shown her his ways of doing things by making Weapon run errands for him in her presence so she would be strong and never be bullied. Little did he expect that the little girl she was would make such a request from him.
Scared that her childish recklessness could cause him trouble, he made Weapon stop visiting the villa to avoid unnecessary troubles. He couldn’t afford to let her get close to Weapon due to how troublesome she was.
Silence shrouded his office as Cassandra kept mute thinking of recent events. She’s still surprised by her father’s disclosure of Weapon’s availability.
There was a knock on the door. “Come in”
“Good day, Boss” a young man in his late thirties paved his way in. He was not too long, curly hair was packed in one piece at the back of his head. His muscles flexed as he placed his right arm across his chest in respect for Grey.
“So fast, Weapon, I’m sure you’ve done a good job”
Weapon released his arm and his biceps contracted, his muscles flexing again. He’s a huge man with beautiful drawings on his right shoulder. He’s cute and good-looking but exudes an undescribable aura making Cassandra drool at his beauty.
Weapon gave her a slight nod and she smiles at him. He faced Grey and passed a little brown envelope to him.
“All you need is in there sir. I got some CCTV footage of the day the buyers got the shoes.
Grey glanced through the papers he was given and passed them to Cassandra.
“They’re all females!” she uttered, not sure of what she read. “Could it be a lady who impersonated me?”
“No ma’am, the newspaper companies all said it was a guy and he had a pass card with him which made them believe he was sent by you.” Weapon explained.
“Then what do we do? I really have to get this person who dares to mess up with me.”
“You have nothing to worry about ma’am. I’ve done a background check on those who purchased it…” he pass a flash drive to Grey who invited the device on his already switched-on computer.
Within seconds, the content of the flash drive popped up showing the comparisons Weapon made already.
“So what’s your opinion about this?” Cassandra asked getting impatient.
“Out of all, this looks the most suspicious.” Weapon pointed at the computer screen where the image of a redhead lady showed.
“She doesn’t look like someone from here.”
“Yes, she doesn’t. But she got the last piece of shoes weeks ago when she travelled down. When she came, there was a guy the CCTV footage showed with her.” he drifted through the files and clicked on another video. The video started with a blur format but became clearer showing the woman going to meet a guy with glasses outside the mall.
Cassandra squinted her eyes, looking at the clip but still couldn’t identify who it was. The clip ended and began again. As it was about to come to an end again, she noticed something on the wrist of the guy when he crept his hands around the lady’s waist.
“Pause it…” she ordered and Weapon did as instructed. “Rewind a bit”
She brought out her phone from her back pocket, her hand flickering through the screen. She told Weapon to zoom the video and he did. Glancing through her picture gallery, she clicked on a picture and placed her phone close to the computer screen.
Indeed, the picture looked like what she had thought. The image on her phone was a picture of her and William when they went on a date. On his wrist was a silver band with black strips across it. On the band was a half star, crescent and a fox head sign drawn together in an absurdly beautiful way.
“I think I know who it can be.” she rushed out carrying her bag with her. “I’ll be back dad,”
Grey smirked, resting his back on his chair. “Follow her discreetly,” he said to Weapon.
“Sure sir,” he left with a respectful gesture.
Outside, Cassandra rushed to her car. Her nervous system was seemingly working twice as faster as normal. She ransacked her bag for her car key but couldn’t find it.
“I guess you left it at the boss’ office, you can drive in my car.” Weapon said behind her. She felt reluctant at first but succumbed to the offer soon enough.
Weapon started the car and drove off while Cassandra sat beside him, obviously on edge.
