Stella Grace was really afraid of hitting Jasper’s face, so she aimed her throws slightly higher.
“What are you afraid of? Come on,” Jasper Milton said in a low voice.
“Let’s stop playing this. Let’s make a snowman instead,” Stella Grace squatted down and rolled a snowball.
Jasper stood in front of her and looked at her. He said meaningfully, “Stella, don’t let me be your soft spot.”
“Don’t let me be your soft spot too then,” Stella said with a smile.
Jasper put a snowball on Stella’s head and stepped back.
Stella understood his intention and finally stood up.
He retreated 20 meters away and threw the snow ball at her.
Stella could feel that there was a gust of wind coming toward her. In an instant, the snowball above her head was hit away.
This was not about soft spots, but ability. Stella did not argue with him. She continued to squat down and make the snowball happily.
Jasper walked to her helplessly, squatted down, and made the snowball with her.
“Jasper, you want the baby in my belly to be a girl, right?” Stella asked with a smile.
“We already have a son,” Jasper said thoughtfully.
Stella smiled even more brilliantly. Jasper was really honest, “When I reach my 20th week, we’ll able to know the gender by having an ultrasound.”
Jasper touched her head, “But it’s okay. No matter if it’s a boy or a girl, I will still like him or her.”
“Me too. Let’s build a snowman. After that, we’ll go home,” Stella said with a smile.
“Okay,” Jasper made a snowball quickly. In just a moment, the snowball that he made had become bigger than Stella’s.
He put the smaller snowball that was made by Stella above his snowball. It became the head of the snowman. Stella then picked some leaves and branches.
They used the leaves to make a pair of eyes, a nose, and a mouth. The branches were the eyeballs and the arms of the snowman. After a while, the snowman was done. They stood next to the snowman and took photos.
By the time they got home, it was already 10 p. m. After washing up, they lay down on the bed.
“Jasper, I’m going shopping tomorrow. I want to buy some folic acid supplements,” Stella said.
“I’ll ask someone to buy it for you tomorrow. I’m worried if you were to go shopping alone,” Jasper said in a low voice.
“Your mother is at work and you would be going to the military base. Do you feel safe letting me stay home alone? Shall I go to the military base with you tomorrow? There’s no safer place than there,” Stella said with a smile.
“Well, that sounds good. Pack up your luggage tomorrow and stay in the military base with me then. There is a hospital in the military base and I will recruit an obstetrician over as well.”
“What about Mom? She will be alone once we’re gone. It’s very pitiful to let an elder stay alone. She will be very sad when she sees that we are gone,” Stella said softly.
Jasper rubbed her head, “You are always so considerate. Let’s sleep.”
“I will go to the military base with you every day and then come back with you, okay?” Stella said with a smile.
“The military base is far away from here. Although there is a helicopter, it will be very noisy. Moreover, I wake up early and come back late. You will be too tired for it. If you insist on going to work with me in the future, we will talk about it after you give birth to the baby.”
Stella sighed, “You can’t have your cake and eat it too. This is how life is. I’ve seen an interesting passage before. I remember it saying that if a man has more time to accompany his wife, she will then complain that the man does not work hard enough to make money. When the man works hard to make money, the wife will then complain that the man doesn’t have time to accompany her. There must be a balance in everything which is within the scope of acceptance.”
“Are you blaming me for not having time to accompany you?” Jasper said softly, his eyes full of apologies.
Stella shook her head, “Of course not, because I support everything you do.”
She put her hand on Jasper’s waist and found a comfortable position in his embrace. She closed her eyes and said, “As long as we could accept, understand, and be considerate of each other, our relationship will be strong. Our love will not fade just because of separation. Only the lack of satisfaction will cause conflict. I understand all of this.”
“Yeah,” Jasper lowered his head and kissed on her forehead, “I’ll come back when I’m free tomorrow and go shopping with you.”
She looked up at him and said, “Don’t overexert yourself. That’s not what I meant.”
“I won’t feel tired when I’m with you. On the contrary, if I’m tired, I’ll be recharged when I am with you,” Jasper said with a smile.
Stella chuckled and said, “Then I’m sure that I’ll have a good dream today.”
When she got up the next day, Jasper was no longer next to her. She didn’t even know when he left. She glanced at the time and it was only 7 a. m.
Stella put on a coat and walked to the window. It had been snowing for a whole night. The ground was covered in a blanket of white snow and it looked dazzling.
Life really was wonderful.
After washing up, she put on her clothes and made her way downstairs.
Suzi Shine had already gotten up, “Natalie, come and have breakfast.”
“Good morning, Mom. When did Jasper leave?” Stella asked.
“He left at 4:30 in the morning, the helicopter came to pick him up. It’s a normal phenomenon in the military. Although he doesn’t have to drill, he still has to inspect and hold a morning assembly. He also has to arrange for missions and attend a meeting in Congress. He has a lot of things to do. Why don’t you and Jasper live in the military base?” Suzi was thoughtful.
Stella smiled at Suzi, “We want to keep you company. Whether we are working, studying, or making money, apart from ourselves, we also have to accompany our family. No one should exist alone. Happiness comes with our family.”
Suzi’s eyes were filled with tears, “I really regret rejecting you back then. I made it so challenging for you and Jasper. I’m sorry.”
“There’s always light at the end of a tunnel. Rainbows would only appear after the rain. Only when we experience the bitterness could we enjoy the sweetness. That’s how life is. Mom, please don’t blame yourself. We are good now,” Stella comforted her, pulled out the chair, and sat down.
“By the way, I noticed that you like reading very much. There are a lot of books in the basement, almost enough to open a library. You can read over there,” Suzi said.
“Really?” Stella was excited and she said, “I could pass the time by reading there.”
“Steven liked reading and he often bought a lot of books. However, he never read most of them. Some of the books are not even unpacked yet. You could take a look and see if there are any books that you may be interested in,” Suzi said softly.
“Okay. Thank you, Mom.”
After breakfast, Suzi went to work.
Stella practiced yoga alone for a while. When she went to the basement, the smell of sandalwood took over immediately. She turned on the light.
There were rows of sandalwood bookshelves, which were really comparable to the library. There were two desks in the middle, with a table lamp, a tea-set and a book on it.
Stella knew that Jasper liked reading because he was influenced by his father.
She went down and picked up the book on the desk, which was titled ‘Secret’. She turned it casually and saw a note between the pages. She picked it up…
