Book:BROKEN : Satanic Verses Published:2024-5-1

“You’ve wasted my time, Dev!”
“I’m just worried about you. Nothing more.” Nania sighed. After a few moments, her eyes lit up again.
“Thank you for caring so much for me.” A small smile grew, but the glint in those black eyes made Dev fail to understand.
“Just something small. No problem,” said Dev. There was a pounding that was out of control when suddenly Nania touched the back of her hand.
“Sometimes it’s the little things that mean a lot to other people, but, Devada, I have some business to attend to.”
“But ….”
“I’m used to this. You don’t have to worry about me.” After tidying up, Nania went back. Dev is silent. Not wanting to obey Nania’s words, but waiting for the right time to follow the girl quietly.
Nania walks into the city. From a distance Dev can see Nania entering a villa. Cautiously, she approached the fence which there was completely unguarded.
However, when she stretched the railing, an electric current stung her hand. Suddenly her mouth screeched. This attracted the attention of Nania who was about to reach the doorway.
Dev immediately hides behind the litter box. Nania who was seen from the gaps in the railing of the fence only seemed to roll her eyes, then continued her steps until her figure was no longer visible.
“Unexpectedly, this villa has a trapping and dangerous security. I have to be careful.”
Feeling no other way, Dev jumps over the three-meter-high fence with ease. However, this did not make her relieved because in front of her eyes was a scene that really tested her adrenaline.
“I didn’t see this when Nania passed by.” Dev stares at the ground in disbelief that Nania suddenly splits open and shoots fire. Surprisingly, it all just happened. It didn’t show any natural signs at all.
“Does the owner of this villa also have magic like Nania?” she asked half guessing.
Dev’s sense of sight highlights the details of the place around. All the steps were filled with flames except very few. There are gaps that Dev thinks she can go through. Dev lifted one leg and dropped it on the ground which was not roasted by the hot matter. However, the ground collapsed so that the embers of the remaining footing could be seen.
“Damn it!”
Time is running so precarious. Dev doesn’t get any way to enter the villa. When they were together, the screams from inside rang out, and she recognized them all too well.
“Elfara!”
Dev’s jaws press against each other. The situation pushed her to move faster. Panic made her pair of irises find another way that might lead her to the Italian-style building in front of her.
When Dev brought her feet to the edge of the fence wall, she suddenly fell to a depth of ten meters. A small scream fell from her lips as something sharp pierced her buttocks.
Dev tries to stand, but another sharp object pierces the shoe. Despite the pain, this time she no longer screamed. She managed to control herself because maybe one shout would get her caught.
“Pretty good trap!” she praised.
She lowered her head to check the conditions below. The water gurgled as her hand reached out and pulled something heavy out of it. From her dilated pupils, she found sharp-toothed iron in the dark place.
“How cunning! They put this in the water. I can’t see it at all even though the water is only calf high.” Dev drops the thing that hurt her, then looks up.
While observing the atmosphere above, Dev just realized something. Her wet face stiffened. She immediately went up to prove her conjecture.
When she reached the top, she convinced herself to set foot on the blazing fire. Miraculously, she didn’t fall or get burned. However, the moment she touched the surface, the heat was real. More observantly she observed it while still crouching. Find out why the heat is real and the fire is fake.
“It’s like natural stone that is processed in such a way.”
“It’s true. This is all a trick of the eye. They use sophisticated technology for deception.” Anger fills Dev’s face. She got rid of herself with an uncontrollable burst of emotion.
200 cm towards the door, Dev feels something suddenly makes her uncomfortable. Like a pain that devours the whole body. Shaking throughout the body loses balance. She fell down and could do nothing, but writhe and hiss like a snake.
From the inside of the building, the sound of shoes tapping was getting louder and louder. Dev is in a difficult position. Relying solely on the strength of her hands, she dragged her wet body behind the ground steps planted with plants similar to gharqad trees.
At that time the sound of footsteps was no longer heard. However, in the vicinity of UU’s hiding place, her eardrums received a crunching sound of dry leaves. Dev painstakingly circulates her blurry eyepiece. Just to the right, a pair of human legs clad in black boots with laces filled her eyes.
“Who are you?” Unanswered question. The figure that she could not see clearly covered her mouth and dragged her body to the side of the villa. A glimpse of the jaguar’s roar fell into her ears while she desperately maintained consciousness.
Minutes walk to test patience, Dev sees a jaguar passing by, then goes somewhere. At that moment, the big hand that was holding her released, and she fell down with her back against the wall.
“I kind of know you.” The owner of the man’s voice suddenly sounded. Dev suddenly lowered her head.
“You look a lot like the girl I saved from a bunch of joggers.” The man in the hat thought. The look in his eyes did not leave Dev’s face. However, there is a hint of doubt. Nobody don’t know what was going through his mind.
Disliking being questioned, Dev tries to run away. However, her frail body obliterated her desire to take a step even if it was only an inch while the sweet-faced man was busy with his cell phone for some time.
“Wait!” The young man’s call was only answered with a glance by Dev.
“I saw you fall into a trap that is around this villa. What exactly are you here for? Now, I’m sure you’re the girl I mean. You must know me too, don’t you?” Dev is unmoved, she is still trying to gather her energy.
“One more step you walk, you will fall into another trap.” Dev stops her footwork. Her blurry eyes couldn’t see the surrounding place.
“Just so you know, I set a lot of traps here and only I know, which lands can be passed safely.”
“Eli–” Dev said was cut off by Nania’s voice. Dev feels her misfortune is doubled. She doesn’t know what made Nania suddenly be among them.
“Devada?” The three youngsters were astonished at each other.
