33. Rediagnose

Book:BROKEN : Satanic Verses Published:2024-5-1

“I told you I didn’t want to, Michele!” Saying softly, but with emphasis, Nick poked the blue eyes of the man who was in the same room with him. Footsteps sounded, Michele scraped the distance. Only four inches left, the bespectacled man looked at Nick. As if to say that he was not afraid of the selfishness and stubbornness shown by Nick.
“Mr. Nick, you always say you’re not as crazy as everyone thinks you are, right? If you want everyone to believe you, then prove it! This series of checks is for that! I have to re-diagnose, all for your own sake.” Unmoved, Nick felt defeated for the umpteenth time. No doubt, what Michele said was true. Nick Erhan must learn to suppress his ego.
“Come to my room. Sorry, if you think I’m being too harsh, it’s because I don’t know how to conquer your rock-hard heart anymore.”
Reluctantly, Nick walked behind Michele into the room. During some time doing interviews and observations, Nick was guided to do blood and urine tests in a special room. The man chuckled as the accompanying nurse who accompanied him for the blood test gave a charming glance.
“Well, now handsome Nick has to pee.”
“There is no need to follow me all the way inside. Get out or I’ll break your lips!” The red-lips woman who was behind Nick spread ten fingers at her mouth.
“I just wanted to make sure you did it right, handsome master.” The woman replied with a smile.
“Shameless nurses!” Nick turned around and gave the strange nurse a horrified look.
“Eh … well, I’ll wait outside.” The owner of that beautiful body distanced herself hastily. In fact, until surprised when she heard Nick slam the door quite loudly.
After the examination and undergoing psychological tests as a support, Nick returned to the room. Silent until the night falls. A small object containing a videotape of Jacob’s adventures he played with his fingers. Taking off a barely blinking gaze, the pair of brown eyes showed various flavors colliding in the chest. There was no television or anything else that would entertain him or at least inform him of the outside world. The room was like a dead ground that buried all life. Nick glanced over as the bedroom door creaked. The light from outside swept away the darkness.
“It’s her again!” Nick’s jaw tightened at the nurse’s smile that made him want to hit something.
“What job requires you to come here at night? Don’t you know, it’s bedtime for all patients?”
“You understand bedtime, but you haven’t slept yourself. No problem. I’m here to give you an injection on doctor Michele’s orders.” Nick gasped, not expecting the sharp object to sink into his skin so suddenly. The flashdisk that Nick had been playing with had fallen out of nowhere. The nurse smiled as the bearded man’s massive body collapsed onto the bed. Fierce, the strange nurse’s slender fingers snaked down Nick’s hairy chest.
“Mr. Nick, your good looks have provoked my passion for a long time, and now you have to take responsibility. Don’t call me Rose if I can’t taste an arrogant, and handsome mental patient like you.” Rose’s fingers ran through Nick’s shirt, while her thick lips circled every side of Nick’s masculine face.
“You are so seductive, Handsome!” Rose’s lips moved to Nick’s lower body. Her saliva was almost dripping. Her aggressive hand moving following the direction of the eye, Rose began to lower the drawstring that covered Nick’s waist.
“ROSE!” Someone’s loud voice thwarted the embarrassing action that was taking place. The nurse was very surprised when the room suddenly became bright.
“Doctor Michele.” Stuttering, Rose’s body language showed extreme fear. Who would have thought that Rose would be caught red-handed? In fact, she had already confirmed the situation before carrying out such a lowly action.
“You crossed the line of your sanity, Rose! What demon possessed you to make you dare to harass a patient in a mental hospital who has such a good image? You even use my name and destroy CCTV for the sake of your demons,” said Michele at length.
“Doctor, it’s not what you think!” Rose tried to defend herself, but Michele’s eyes fell on the IV tube attached to Nick’s hand. The mad nurse grew even more flustered as Michele walked over.
“Are you using general anesthesia?” Instantly, Michele’s hand flew to Rose’s cheek.
“Criminal! You have no authority for that!” Gloomy, Michele rushed Nick to the ICU. Administration of general anesthesia causes paralysis of the respiratory muscles. The doctor was afraid there would be a big death if Nick didn’t get oxygen immediately.
“Hold on, Nick!”
“Rose, you will be held accountable for your actions. Go right now!”
“Doctor, please forgive me. I … I was wrong to be tempted by Nick’s good looks.” Rose knelt at Michele’s feet. Rose was crying.
“I don’t accept any excuses. Go, don’t lower yourself down!” The slight pressure that Michele put in finally managed to make Rose quickly out of sight.
The day brightened again with the sun rising, noises from outside gathering Nick’s consciousness. He looked confused by the surrounding conditions. The tube that was in his nose he pulled out roughly. Nick got off the bed, and reached for the bottle of mineral water that was on the table. 500 ml water in one gulp.
“Mr. Nick, are you awake?” The arrival of Michele was not well received by Nick. The man deliberately threw a perfunctory drinking bottle.
“Why am I here?” he asked, pressing his head with both hands. Perhaps, feeling dizzy was suffering from the effects of anesthesia.
“Last night you lost consciousness. Are you feeling dizzy?”
“A little!”
“In a moment the doctor Anne will come to check on you.”
“What are the test results?”
“I’ll order breakfast for you. Once you’re ready, I’ll meet you to talk about it.”
“Too wordy!”
“Learning to be patient won’t hurt you at all.” Michele said as he turned his back, about to walk lightly towards another place. However, the figure of a woman standing in the doorway made him resent it.
“Jesselyn?”
“Hi, Michelle!” Jess’ voice caught Nick’s attention.
“When did you come? Who with?” Michele bombarded Jess with questions.
“Just now, escorted by your bodyguard,” Jess explained.
“Jess!” Nick whispered, his legs swinging slowly toward them. A happy expression appeared on Nick’s charisma-filled face. A charm and a sense of love that radiates to make women there can not escape from Nick’s snare. Michele looked at the two people unusually. It’s like he’s catching a feeling that can’t be described from the look in their eyes.
“Jeselyn, I have a schedule, do you want to come to my room now?” asked Michelle.
“Jesselyn!”
“I’m going to your room after this!” Jess said after a moment of silence.
“Okay, call me if you need anything.”
“Michele, stop acting like you’re her husband!” Doctor Michele frowned, then he said, “Sorry!”
Now that Michele had left the room, Jess just gulped when she realized she was in Nick’s eyes. Not as angry as earlier, the man’s face turned calm and made Jess feel a little relieved. Confused, the woman seemed to have a hard time leaving the room, to be precise, leaving Nick.
“Jess!” Nick’s eyes turned sad, then rushed to hug Jess’ small body.
“I missed you so much, please forgive me!”
“What do you mean?” Jess asked still in awe.
“Do not leave me. I really love you. Forever, you will remain my wife.” Unraveling the hug, Jess took two steps apart.
“Your wife? What do you mean? I do not understand.” Jess’ lips trembled against the turmoil in her chest.
“Did you really forget me, Jess? I’m your Nick, you said you wouldn’t leave me no matter what.” Nick gently touched his wife’s shoulder.
“I do not remember!” Jess looked at Nick with teary eyes.
“What happened to you?” Jess shook her head, confirming Nick’s suspicion that something had happened to his wife. The accident that Michele said, Nick suddenly remembered.
“You brought your cell phone?” asked Nick who immediately answered with a nod. The man borrowed a cell phone, and opened a social media. He opened an album from an account called Erhan, hundreds of locked photos immediately filled the screen.
“Look!” The red color in Jess’ sclera grew darker when she saw the photo of the two of them looking very affectionate and happy. Tears started to fall when Jess’ little fingers came to the photos where they were wearing beautiful and luxurious wedding dresses.
“Is this true? Are you Nick who’s been bothering me lately?” Jess cupped Nick’s jaw. She didn’t think the emotional bond she had felt so far wasn’t a lie or just a form of loneliness. Nick nodded, then carried Jess into his arms. Enjoy each other’s body odor that is sorely missed. They hugged each other very tightly, pouring out feelings that had been hidden for a long time.
“Jessie, I love you!” Nick licked his wife’s lips longingly, the woman replied. Wanted to show that she had the same feeling even though she wasn’t sure what she was doing was right or wrong. Her instincts were stronger than her logic. Most importantly, the longing must get an outlet.
Thirty minutes passed ….
“Doctor Michele, should I go first to check on another patient? Looks like they’re going to take a long time.” Doctor Anne thought from behind the door of the ICU room.
“Alright, please! Thank you for your understanding. Sorry, I need to do this in order to get an accurate diagnosis.” Michele felt bad.
“No problem, I understand. Good job, I hope you get the results you want.” Doctor Anne bowed with a friendly smile.
“Thank you!” Michele replied. As he had expected, Nick and Jess weren’t about to end their drama yet so Michele decided to sit and watch them in the monitor room privately without other people’s distractions.
