“You’re not serious, right?” Hydra asked.
“I am serious, more than serious,” Zelina said. “Adalinda wants to become the Queen, I will do just exactly that. Once father gives me the crown, I will pass it down to Adalinda.”
“Are you sure you are not sick, don’t do that, father will kill you.”
“We will see about that.” Zelina said, placing her sword on her lap and wheeled her chair away from the garden leaving Hydra behind who was still shocked.
___
King Ancalagon Throne Room:
King Ancalagon could be seen pacing in front of his throne chair. His three daughters could be seen with him. Adalinda was cleaning something off her fingernails looking nonchalant and Hydra looked scared. Zelina’s eyes were on her father.
“Did you know what you have done? The embarrassment and shame you brought upon me today?” Ancalagon shouted as he faced Zelina who flinched a bit under his angry gaze. His daughter has embarrassed him after he passed her his crown and naming her the next Queen of the dragon’s immediately the ceremony was over only for her to announce that Adalinda will take her place, rule in her place.
“I know what I did father and I didn’t disgrace you, I gave the kingdom to someone who is capable and that is Adalinda. She wants to become the next Queen but-”
Interrupted her with a hard slap.
“You!” Ancalagon snarled. “What you did today, I will never forget.”
Touching her cheek, the place he had slapped. “But I gave the crown to Adalinda. She can rule the Kingdom unlike me who can’t even lift her own legs.”
“You’re the first daughter of this Royal home, my first child. It doesn’t work that way.” Ancalagon said, holding himself from lashing out at his daughter.
“Well, I just bend the rules a little father, besides, you should be glad I didn’t give your kingdom to someone else.”
“And what about your husband?”
“I haven’t married him so stop calling him my husband.”
“I will marry him.” Adalinda spoke for the first time, looking from her nails to her father with a smirk on her face. “Let me marry him instead.”
“Adalinda, don’t get me wrong but he doesn’t want you, he wants Zelina and that’s why I am angry. He is one of the strongest dragon warriors and your sister just disgraced herself in front of everyone present.”
“Father, you cannot force me against my wish. Let Adalinda rule, after all in one of the rules of the law, if I see that Adalinda isn’t capable of ruling this kingdom I have every right to take it away from her. And the rules work for only the Royal females and not the males.” Zelina told him and breathed out. “I have been doing some readings father.”
Ancalagon glared at Zelina.
“Out of my presence, now!”
Hydra immediately started wheeling Zelina out leaving Adalinda and their father.
“I told you it was a bad idea.” Hydra said as she took Zelina to her room.
Zelina removed the veil covering half of her face.
“I don’t care, Hydra. Adalinda will rule the kingdom just well, I know it.”
“It’s your choice, even though father is angry at you, I’m still rooting for you.”
Zelina smiled. “I would like to be left alone if you don’t mind.”
“Of course, I will see you when I see you.” Hydra said and left her room.
Grabbing a long dress and underwear from her wardrobe. She wheeled herself to her bathroom after she had made sure her room door was locked. She saw warm water already waiting for her in the bathtub and quickly carried herself, using her hands to support all her weight. Soon enough, she was sitting down on the floor of the bathtub and hurriedly took her bath.
She took a huge risk by doing what she did. She was glad her father didn’t transform into his Dragon and burn her to death. She was glad he hadn’t disowned her yet. She was glad she hadn’t been kicked out of the Palace. There were a lot of things she was glad at. All the food that was cooked has gone to waste, well, she will tell some of her guards to distribute the food to those who didn’t have at the moment.
Closing her eyes and taking a deep breath. She quickly put on her clothes and threw in the dress her father had made for her specially for her coronation day.
Placing herself back into her wheelchair, she wheeled it out of the bathroom and once she entered her room, her hands halted as she saw Adalinda inside her room, sitting on her bed and looking straight at her.
“You know the way you’re looking at me is creeping me out,” Zelina said, forcing a smile to show on her face. “How long have you been here? And how did you enter my room when I locked it?” she asked.
“Oh, I noticed the door was locked then I came in through your window.” Adalinda answered and rolled her eyes when she saw the face Zelina was making. “Forcing yourself to smile doesn’t fit you and secondly, I really climbed through your window. I’m the best at archery here, you don’t believe I can climb a window without transforming into my Dragon?” she asked with a raised brow.
Zelina cleared her throat. Her room was at the top floor of the castle so that’s why she’s finding it hard to believe but this is Adalinda and not someone else. “What are you doing here?” She asked instead.
“You surprised me you know, you surprised everyone but most especially me by what you did. Well, since you did me a favor by making me the Queen of this kingdom, I want to return the same favour back.” Adalinda answered her which surprised her.
Adalinda who hated her presence wants to return a favour?
“I didn’t do you a favor, I just did what was right. The throne was never meant for me.”
“Whatever, just listen to me.” Adalinda said, rolling her eyes. “I heard from someone about a place that can heal you and will make you very powerful too.”
Zelina was curious. All her life she wanted something that would bring her powers, probably that’s the reason why she hasn’t been able to walk.
“Who did you hear it from?” Zelina asked with interest as she wheeled her chair closer to Adalinda.
“My source wants to be kept a secret and besides you know I won’t tell even if I’m being choked to death,” Adalinda said. “Anyway, have you ever heard about River of Darkness?”
“No, what about it?”
“It is said great powers lie beneath the River and if you see the Princes of Hell, they will grant you whatever you desire.”
