Because of the rain, the road was slippery and the cars all drove slowly. When they reached Gikalle Village, it was already past six in the evening.
Gikalle Village was a dilapidated little village in front of a large mountain. Because it was haunted, many of the villagers had already moved away. The doors of every house were wide open. They were all rented to the crew.
Every year, there would be one or two groups of people who come here for thrillers. When the program team arrived, the last group of people had just left for two days.
As the name implied, there was a clear stream at the end of which was a forest. It was a desolate tomb, where horror movies were filmed.
The sky was dark, and the roads in the village were muddy. The photographer was taking photos in front and explaining by the way.
In this blocked place, many houses were made of mud. Cracks were easily seen on the wall, which displayed traces of age. The roof was covered with straw. Everything was dilapidated.
“Nice atmosphere.”
Nevil nodded repeatedly, holding a black umbrella. The news of the change caused an uproar on social media after it was released. Fans felt sorry for their idol, yet they were also looking forward to something more exciting.
“This environment… What the hell!” Lucy complained.
The last crew didn’t clean the things up when they left. Waste and rubbish were everywhere. It looked worse than grassland and didn’t look to be habitable.
At the thought of what Aliyah had just said in the car, Lucy felt uncomfortable. She could not imagine how Hazel would spend the night on her own.
When they were distributing the rooms, Hazel made an incredible expression on the camera to expose the relationship between Nevil and Elva in the future. They bullied her by allocating her the worst room.
The rooms seemed to be randomly assigned yet not so in reality.
Leonel got the best room without a doubt, which should be the room of the main character of the last crew, for it was well equipped. Cattles, mosquito incense, and stuff along the line were all still there.
Hazel’s assigned room was shabby. There was a crack in the ceiling from where the rain fell. There were two worn-out iron basins. The bed was wet, and the table was missing a leg. There were bricks below. There was garbage at the door, as well as leftovers.
No assistants were allowed to help. Lucy was even angrier. She took out her phone and was about to complain, but found that the signal there was extremely weak. She couldn’t even send a message.
The electricity in Gikalle Village was from other villages and was therefore not very stable. The team was in a hurry and did not have a generator. The group of people used the oil lamps that were left by the last crew to light up the room at night.
After cleaning up the rubbish, Hazel laid a waterproof cloth on the bed, then put a layer of sheets on it. It was only a night, she believed she would survive it.
“Linda, this is a prank!”
Lucy was so angry that she stamped her feet. Regardless of whether this place was haunted, the environment was creepy enough. The cameraman was shooting and talking with enthusiasm. It would cause a huge reaction when the editing work was done.
“Calm down.”
After Lucy left, Hazel opened her wallet and pointed at the photo of Baron with her finger. It was a photo of them at the Haunted House. “Come out. I need your protection now. I’m not alone!”
With Baron around, no matter his being or his photo, Hazel would be safe.
Before she came, Baron told her a secret about Leonel’s fetish and Union Club. She didn’t think it was a good idea for Edie to risk her life. Yet other than Edie, there was no suitable person who could make people guard down.
A sound came up.
Someone knocked on the door.
After tidying up, Hazel looked down at her watch. It was exactly midnight. “Who are you? Human or ghost?”
“It is me.”
Hazel opened the door. Seeing Leonel standing outside with an umbrella, she let out a sigh of relief. To be honest, she was a little scared just now.
“What are you doing here? Mr. Grossman said we should stay alone in the room.”
Leonel looked at Hazel’s room and sighed, “Let’s swap rooms. Take my room. You can’t live here.”
Leonel felt sorry for Hazel. This was the worst room. Nevil accepted Hazel as a newcomer yet kept bullying her. Leonel couldn’t stand this.
As soon as Bob went out, he saw Leonel standing in front of Hazel from afar. As he walked in, his expression darkened. Perhaps it was not as Elva had said, that Hazel seduced Leonel. Yet she had indeed changed a lot. She was no longer the same as before.
“Alright then, thanks. I owe you one.”
Someone took the initiative to change the room. Hazel was overjoyed. She knew it wouldn’t be a peaceful night. Therefore, she had no intention of staying in her room like a fool.
With her understanding of Elva, there would be a big trap awaiting.
However, Leonel should be able to deal with the trouble makers, since he knew martial arts.
“This room is creepy. It might be hunted. Aren’t you scared?”
Hazel lowered her head and pondered. It was not good to use someone like this. She said euphemistically, “You know there is something between me and Elva. What if they…”
“So, let’s swap rooms. If there’s anything, I’ll take it.”
Leonel rubbed Hazel’s head and looked at her like a little rabbit. His eyes were watery and moist. He got an urge that he hadn’t had for a long time.
He pushed Hazel out of the door and reminded her to rest early. The rest of the work was all about editing and recording. The crew would take care of them.
Hazel expressed her gratitude to Leonel, who was going to suffer for her, and then slowly got back to his room. Everything in Leonel’s room was new. Although the conditions were hard, at least it looked habitable. She turned on her phone and wanted to send a message to Baron. Yet the signal was too bad that she failed all her attempts.
The night in Ghost Village was strangely quiet. Hazel put a knife under the pillow and soon fell asleep with a photo of Baron in her arms.
The legendary atmosphere of horror didn’t affect her. In her dream, she entered a bright and beautiful place filled with the fragrance of flowers. Baron was holding the red rose in his hand, kneeling on one knee, about to propose to her.
“I must be dreaming.” In the dream, Hazel had told herself.
She and Baron were not from the same social classes. She wouldn’t want to marry him.
Before she finished her dream, a scream came from outside the door.
Hazel opened a crack in the door and saw that all the staff members were out. So, she followed behind them in the direction of the screams.
“Why are you here?”
Elva did not sleep all night. She was waiting for the scream. In the end, someone screamed. Yet it was a man, not Hazel. Elva got a bad feeling that there might be something wrong.
“You seem to be surprised to see me here.”
The photographer happened to record the conversation.
Hazel said that she had caught a cold, so Leonel swapped rooms with her out of kindness and she was very grateful for that.
