HUNTER
Two days have passed since Dylan and Seiko saved me from Gideon’s hand. I am lying in bed while reminiscing about what happened to my body. Time flies fast, and I still couldn’t believe that many of my colleagues chose to stab my back.
“Hunter, consider limiting your movement because your wound is still quite fresh. Just lay down and let us help you. Hunter, please. You’re making us worried. You will get your energy back eventually, but for now, you need to stop pushing yourself so hard,” Seiko begged me to listen to him.
When I did some searching, I found that the person I was looking for wasn’t at this place, and I couldn’t help but feel anxious about it. I stood in my bed and approached Seiko, who had a look of slight worry at that moment.
“Where exactly is my sister, Seiko? Please let me know where Mariel is because I will never be able to forgive myself if something terrible happens to her. Seiko, answer me! Where can I find her? Is she safe? Have you rescued her from the hands of Gideon? Fuck!” I yelled at him.
He grabbed my shoulder and tried to calm me down. He looked directly into my eyes, and I couldn’t explain why I was beginning to feel more at ease in reacting to how he was looking at me. My body felt a momentary sense of peace.
“Hunter, you don’t have to worry because Mariel is safe. Dylan took him to the hospital to make sure she was in good condition. Calm down, please. Everything is settled. Just rest,” Seiko assured me.
Because of what he said, for a split second, every nerve and muscle in my body was completely relaxed. Even though I am aware of how terrible Dylan is, I am thankful to him for the fact that he is looking out for my sister. That maniac!
“Where is Gideon? They must prepare for me because by the time I regained my strength, I wouldn’t think twice about killing them. Fuck those sex addicts! I will kill them!” I yelled out while clenching my fist as tightly as I could.
My plans were temporarily cut off when we suddenly heard a loud sound outside. While Seiko and I were looking at the door, Dylan suddenly slammed it in our faces. I couldn’t help but wonder what had gotten to him because he struggled to gather his breath.
“Seiko, I’ve received bad news! We must move quickly to prevent them from taking her life at any moment. Leave Hunter first because his body is not in the right condition. We need to hurry!” Dylan worriedly said.
Because of what he said, all of a sudden, I had the feeling that someone was gripping my heart. Although they wanted me to stay in bed and recover, I got up and approached Dylan right away. But all of a sudden, I had pain in my ankle, even though I hadn’t fully stood up. Fuck!
“Hunter, you shouldn’t put more pressure on yourself because you simply can’t. Dylan and I were going to handle this problem. Just relax there. We will update you as quickly as possible,” Seiko assured me.
Seiko quickly pushed my body down onto the bed while standing up. As a result, I had no choice but to lie down there. He gave me a hard look, but it didn’t frighten me, so Dylan broke the silence with a remark.
“Do you seriously want me to discuss what I know with you? Hunter, we’re going to save Trinity because her life is in danger. She needs help, so stop what you are doing. Every second is important, so just rest in that fucking bed, and we will handle this,” Dylan exclaimed, leaving me in awe.
The passing of time slowed down for me, and Trinity was the only thing going through my head. She had become less prominent in my thoughts earlier because my anxiety for Mariel had dominated more. Fuck! How can I forget the woman I love? Shit!
“Maybe what you’ve heard is enough. Stay here because you are going to be a distraction in our mission. If you want Trinity to be saved, let us do it,” Seiko explained one last time.
They left the room, and what I heard after they were gone shocked me. I desperately wanted to help Trinity, but they were right; my body simply couldn’t do it. I felt a little bit useless in the world. Fuck!
“Oh, for fuck’s sake! Gideon, you have a lot of debts to pay! I won’t be able to forget any of your deeds because you brought so much chaos into our life. Asshole!” I let out a yell, desperately seeking a way to get the rage out of my system.
I simply closed my eyes to make myself more relaxed; however, I was not prepared for what came next. The door to the room opened slowly, revealing Christine’s crazed grin to me as she stood there.
“How are things doing for you, Hunter? You have been fortunate to survive in the past, but given that you do not have a companion, it is doubtful that you will still stay alive today. Well, are you ready to be killed?” she questioned me and inched her way closer to me.
She slowly walked to where I was, but rather than feeling threatened, I smiled at her back as she came closer. I wasn’t prepared because my plan would begin right now. The prey is making herself exposed to the predator.
“Christine, I didn’t know you were dumb. But I can’t blame you. You’re so good at pretending you don’t have much experience with sex, but look what happened? You convinced me that the play was true. But now it’s time to get even,” I exclaimed in her direction.
The word I left out caused a slight change to the smile she was wearing on her lips. I didn’t miss the opportunity and quickly pulled her into bed. Her silence was noticeable, but I didn’t mind it.
“Who among us could even come close to pleading that she let to have the manhood she craved in her body? Christine, you know I am capable to fuck you whenever I want,” I whispered and hugged her body closer to mine.
I could see her forehead sweating because of the strange sensation that came from me. She felt the warmth of my breath that I was sure was making her turn on.
“I didn’t make a mistake; you did well in seducing, Hunter. I think all women will beg just to have sex with you. Well, your sister is good too, I wouldn’t deny that” the man said and slightly made his way to enter the room.
He entered the room and was slightly further applauded by what he was seeing now. Even though I didn’t turn around to see, I could still identify the person.
“I actually can’t wait until I have my revenge on all of you. I commend your bravery in hurrying over to this place where I live. You have a lot of confidence in yourself, Gideon,” I sarcastically replied to him.
I slightly grabbed Christine in the neck to get Gideon’s attention. He will come to her rescue if he loves his wife as much as he says he does. But being aware of how terrible he was? It doesn’t seem likely to me.
“Hunter, you are acting quite ridiculous even now. I don’t care about that woman, so you can’t use her against me. She’s just the thing to warm up my cold night,” he explained, then laughed.
I expect this to be his reaction because this man is known to be heartless, but I didn’t expect what Christine did. She stabbed me in the back with a knife so she could get away from me.
“Since you are so easy to deceive, it’s hard for me to understand why so many people trust you. Every time, you never use your brain. What a terrible shame,” Christine said before she got up and left under me.
I just ignored the pain behind me and tried to focus on Gideon. I just closed my eyes as I tried to endure the pain in my back. They always hit me. To hell with both of them!
“Hunter, why does your ability seem to be lessened?’ Is that the effect when you always use the heart to do everything? That makes me sad to think about,” Gideon added.
I had the sense that they would continue beating me, but suddenly, they exited the room and left me. My eyebrows somewhat furrowed as a result of the fact that I was caught off guard by what they did, which was unexpected. Did they leave me? What’s the catch?
“Fuck! What is it that those two are looking for exactly? Because of what they did, I had a lot of trouble coping with the pain in my head. Gideon, you have some serious problems!” I yelled.
I tried to pick up the white tablecloth on the table close to the bed. I immediately put it behind me, which at the time was bleeding excessively and making me feel weak. Fuck!
“Hunter, are you okay? Shit! They ignored my suggestion that they remain still even after I pleaded with them. Does it ache when you bend over? Wait, let me help you,” she said with a worrying voice.
I just realized she had come to me and slightly examined my back. I don’t know if I should be grateful because she’s here today and helping me.
“What exactly is going on right now, Crystal? You don’t have to pretend to be nice in front of me because I know that you are a traitor. Let’s not be fooled by each other anymore,” I had explained to her.
I was about to stop her from continuing, but suddenly, she gave me a bear hug behind my back. I felt a significant amount of homesickness while in her hug, yet I didn’t care about it. Because she stabbed me in the back, I couldn’t trust her.
“I swear to you, Hunter, I have no intention of betraying you. It’s you; you never stop taking advantage of my presence here. You were ignorant that I am also experiencing pain in this condition. When will you start treating me like a respectable woman, Hunter? I will never stop being here for you,” she cried as she said between hugs.
She tightened it even more, and because my body was still weak, I couldn’t take her arms off. It’s too tight, and she ensures I don’t just get rid of it.
“I never realized how good you are at pretending to be on someone else’s side when you don’t support them. Crystal, you need to stop acting like this. Our relationship has gotten so bad that there is nothing you can do to make it better,” I made it clear to her.
A single teardrop, which I was sure had come from one of her eyes, was slowly making its way down my back. Even when crying, she can give a convincing performance, proving that she is an excellent actor. Too bad she couldn’t deceive me any more.
“Don’t worry because I’m going to help you find Trinity. I am aware that Seiko has access to many resources, but I also can work in my way,” I heard her exclaim.
I wanted to take apart every word she was saying, but I couldn’t get past the vision of her that I had in my head. She can’t let me go again because I know her attitude. She betrayed me once so that she could do it again.
“Do what you think is right. That’s your life, and I don’t have the right to tell you what to do with it. Crystal, you don’t need to tell me what you’re planning to do since I have absolutely no interest in hearing about it,” I explained to her.
I felt she was a little taken aback and swiftly pulled away from the hug. Before she smiled at me, she brushed away the tears on her cheek. She’s in a very compassionate situation, but I’m not going to let that sway my mind.
“Also, Dylan wasn’t the one who took care of your sister. He just took her to the hospital, but I cared for Mariel for two days. I’m sorry; I hope you can forgive,” she pleaded before turning around and leaving the room.
I have no idea how I should be feeling right now. Even though there is no physical evidence to support her claim that she was Mariel’s guardian, my gut tells me I should believe her. Just what is going on here? It’s possible that she was just messing around with me as a game.
“Crystal, I would have trusted and believed you now if you hadn’t fooled me. Don’t worry, because tomorrow, I’ll give you a chance to prove yourself to me,” I exclaimed before lying in bed and closing my eyes.
