Gabriella Monet POV
“Your highness, ” Gerald bow his head. “I apologize for breaking the rule but this slave tries to seduce me.” He lied.
“Why are you lying? You forced yourself on me!” I shouted.
I wondered why he was lying when the truth was obvious. I looked at the king who seemed to be in deep thought. He looked From me to Gerald and then Slade. He was the Vampire King and killing me was like a sport to him. I wouldn’t be surprised if he chose Gerald over me.
“Here is my Decision,” The king’s powerful voice sounded as he stood up to announce his decision.
I closed my eyes as I waited for the King’s announcement. If I should be sentenced to death, the only people I’ll miss were Slade, My mother, Daphne, Anabella, and Teale.
The King stood up from his seat and walked towards me. With every step, he took, my Heartbeat rapidly as I feared for my life. I looked down when he appeared in front of me with his inhumane speed. “Look up Slave,” He ordered in a stern tone.
I couldn’t look at him in the eyes because I was trembling and my heart raced because I was scared of what he could do to me. “I say look at me!” He shouted.
I slowly bought my head up to look at him and when our eyes met, my head jerked backward and I screamed out as memories of what happened between Gerald and myself came rushing into my head and every memory bought a terrible aching to my head. It felt as if my head getting crushed by a Car. When the king averted his eyes, the memories stopped and the aching stopped. I gasped for breathe as my head jerked forward. The King had done something to my memories and I didn’t know why or how he did it but I knew he saw everything on my head.
Everyone stared in awe when the king rushed towards Gerald and stood in front of him.
“Your highn….,” Gerald tried to say something but choked on his own breathe when the king held his throat. “What are you doing?” The King tightens his grip on Gerald’s throat.
“You’ve broken the rule of the vampires and you are going to pay for breaking the rule. I the king of the vampires hereby sentenced you to a week lockdown in the river of indefinite Punishment.” The king announced and threw Gerald on the ground. He landed on the ground with a loud thump. “Take him to the river of indefinite punishment!” He ordered three guards.
“Your highness!” Candice’s annoying voice sounded as she rushed and fell at the King’s feet. “Please,” she begged. “Not the river of indefinite punishment. He’ll die if he spends a week there. Have mercy.” The river of indefinite punishment must be terrible to vampires for her to beg like that.
“Very well then,” the king answered. “I will have mercy on him. ”
That’s what I thought. How could the king choose a vampire over me?
“He is hereby exiled permanently from the Royal castle.” The king announced and Candice Gasped.
“Your highness!” Candice bows her head. “Have mercy.”
What else does she want?
“That’s is the limit to my mercy. He did something a vampire should never do. Untie her!” The king commanded the two guards standing beside me.
The guards loosen the rope on my wrists and legs and it felt as if a weight was lifted off my body.
The King dismissed everyone in the arena and left with his guards and a few slaves. Candice ran after her brother as he was dragged away by three guards. It’s served them right and for once I was happy the vampire king chose my side.
“Gabby,” Anabella rushed to my side and hugged me. “Thank God you are okay.” She pulled me up from the chair and pulled me into another hug.
I missed my sister’s warmth and love. “Thank you.” I smiled at her and she returned the smile and placed a hand on my face.
“Are you okay?” She questioned and I nodded.
I noticed Slade talking to someone and when I stretched my neck to look at who he was talking to, it turned out to be Luciana and they were in a heated conversation. Luciana had her hands wrapped around Slade’s neck while Slade had his hands on hers. “You sure you okay?” Anabella questioned when she noticed that I was staring at Slade. “You don’t have to worry. He really likes you.” She told me but I doubted it.
If he truly loves me, he should have rushed to my side. “I’m not worried Ana,” I snapped and apologized when I realized what I did. “I’m sorry. ”
“I understand. Let’s get out of here. Your wrists need an ointment. Come,” she pulled my hand.
I didn’t care about my red wrists or my aching legs because all I cared about at that moment was why Luciana still had her arms around Slade’s and he seemed comfortable about It.
Was I jealous? Yes, I was and I was burning in anger. I felt like coming in between them and punching Slade’s face over and over again.
“So much for your loving me.” I thought and Slade seems to hear as he turned to look at me.
He tried to say something but Anabella seems to notice the intense look between us and she grabbed my hand and pulled me out of the Arena. She took me to her room that was on the west wing of the castle. The room was bigger than my room but smaller than Slade’s. Painted in two colors, white and purple which looked amazing as one part of the room was purple and the other was painted in white. Anabella offered me a seat on the king-sized bed in the room. Opposite the bed was a dressing mirror and a chair and beside it was a brown two-seater couch”You have a nice room.” I commented.
“Thank you.” She walked to the left side of the room where her wardrobe was and opened one of the drawers. She bought out a black balm and gave it to me. “Apply this on your wrist every day until the pain is gone.”
“Thank you.” I smiled at her and opened the balm which bought an amazing vanilla smell.
“Yeah right.” She answered and help me apply the balm to my wrists. “How is mum?” She started a conversation.
“I haven’t heard from her in months.” That’s was true.
“You know when I was taken to auction house two years ago, I was just like you. Sassy and outspoken.” She began her story. “Everything changed when Xavier bought me from the auction house. He helped me.”
“Help!” I interrupted her. “You mean help by turning you into a vampire!” I scoffed and shook my head. “How could you let a vampire turn you, Ana?”
“I had no choice Gabby. He was nice to me and wanted me to be his wife and agreeing to that means I’ll be freed from this enslavement. ”
“I see. Getting turned to a vampire and pregnant is your explanation of getting free.” I stood up and paced around DDD in the room.
“Not everyone is strong like you Gabby.”
“Strong? You know I have my limits.”
“I’ve seen and heard about you and I can’t do all of that Gabriella. I can’t continue to be a slave when I could enjoy the privilege as a vampire.”
“So what you are saying is that every human should be turned into vampires so that we can be freed?”
“You know that not what I mean gabby.” Anabella stood up and touched my shoulder. “I had no choice, Gabriella. I was devastated about the dead’s death and I….” She couldn’t finish as she broke down into tears. She covered her face with her hand and cried. “I’m sorry if I had failed you as your sister but I’m sorry Gabby.”
I heaved a deep sigh and pulled her into my arms. I didn’t want to be the cause of her tears as it pains me to see her cry. “I’m not judging You, Anabella. I’m just saying that as humans we can break free if we want to.”
“It’s not easy Gabriella. The vampires are vile creatures who don’t care about anything other than themselves and their meals which is us, humans. ”
“I understand you but I am not giving up. Come, let’s seat.” I pulled towards the bed and we both sat down. “I missed you when you left and I thought you died but when I saw you at the lobby that day, I was happy to see you.”
“I’m sorry for how I acted towards you. ” she apologized.
“It’s okay Ana. I understand.”
“So sisters? ” she bought her pinky finger forward.
“Sisters.” I entwined my pinky finger with hers.
“I missed you Gabby.’
” same here Ana.” That’s was the truth. “So how is Xavier treating you?”
“Good, he…” She hesitated a bit and finally said something. “He is very nice to me.” She smiled.
I cleared my throat and looked away. “I should probably be going Anabella before Xavier comes cause I noticed he doesn’t like me that much.”
“Don’t say that.”
It was the truth, Xavier hated me.
“He doesn’t hate you.” She tried to defend him but I knew it was a lie.
“Whatever you say, Ana.” I agreed not ready for an argument.
“Can we hang out tomorrow? You know you, me, and Daphne?”
“I’m not sure Anabella. I…”
“Just like old times. Let’s hang out like sisters.” She pleaded.
“Okay.” I closed my eyes as I agreed to her request.
“Great!” She jumped and hugged me. “You are the best.”
Yeah, I am the best.
