Chapter 427 Audition

Book:Time Travel to Become Your Sweetheart Published:2024-5-28

Baron had been so mysterious and never appeared in newspapers, magazines, or online news. So Lena was even more curious.
Hazel’s phone suddenly rang when she was halfway through her food.
Hazel lowered her head and looked at the unknown number on her phone screen. After hesitating for a moment, she pressed the answer button.
“Hello.”
Judging from the voice, it was a male around forty years old. He spoke very politely but sounded a bit intimidating.
“Are you the actress, Hazel? I am your new manager, Kyle Dieter.”
After a simple self-introduction, Kyle continued, “Now I will tell you your schedule for the next three days. Please take a pen and write it down.”
Hazel said yes, hurriedly fetched a pen and paper, quickly wrote down her schedule, and double-checked it.
Without saying one single unnecessary word, Kyle hung up the phone.
The schedule for the following three days wasn’t tight. There were three projects that needed a supporting role. They had chosen Hazel and the pay was quite good.
Her last manager often took commissions from the pay. This had almost become an unwritten rule between managers and actors. Only big stars didn’t have to abide by this rule.
The projects that Kyle got Hazel were very suitable for her, and judging from the pay, he did not take kickbacks.
But probably because the kickbacks were too little. After all, he used to be one of the best in the industry and was said to be rich.
Her luck had finally turned. Hazel’s heart raced and she felt the heat on her face with her hand.
She finally had work now. Hazel was both happy and worried.
The next day, Hazel woke up early and looked at the calendar. She found that it was a lucky day.
She made breakfast and put it in the pot to keep it warm so Lena could have a hot meal after the night shift.
After washing up and dressing up, Hazel went downstairs.
It was 7:50, more than an hour to go before 9:30, the audition time. The time allowed her to take the subway there.
Hazel didn’t like to be late. Plus, she was only a nobody. She needed to be punctual to leave a good impression on the directors and producers.
Suddenly…
She heard car horns.
Hazel turned around and saw that it was Dave who honked the horn. She said hello to Dave.
“Get in.”
The black Mercedes-Benz seemed out of place in this dilapidated neighborhood. Men and women who were exercising in the morning were looking at Hazel curiously. They did not remember there was such a beautiful woman.
“No, I’ll go to the audition. I’ll take the subway.”
Hazel was relieved that there was no one in the back seat. It seemed that the always expressionless Baron wasn’t here.
The last month or so felt like a dream to her. But she could still feel the scars left by the bullet, so she knew everything had really happened.
“Get in the car. It’s an order from Mr. Floyd.”
Dave got off the car and opened the car door for Hazel like a gentleman. Then he returned to the driver’s seat.
On the other night, Baron had given this car to Hazel.
A full-time driver was supposed to be assigned to this car. But Baron had gone abroad for business and did not have time to deal with this thing so he asked Dave who had no work at the moment to do this job for the time being.
“No need.”
Hazel had almost forgotten it. But she could barely support herself. She didn’t have money to hire a driver.
“It’s Mr. Floyd’s order.”
Dave turned around and looked at Hazel seriously. He was even more certain that there was something going on between her and Mr. Floyd.
What else did he not know? Mr. Floyd told him that Hazel’s driver was the Floyd Group’s employee and would get all the benefits.
That meant that Mr. Floyd regarded Hazel as one of his own. Anyway, that was what Dave thought.
At eight o’clock, it was the rush hour in City J. Even though Dave was familiar with the city and kept taking shortcuts, traffic jams couldn’t be avoided.
The capital, what an odd city.
Whenever it was, the street was full of people. People kept pouring into this city, hoping to realize their dreams.
The houses were expensive and everything else was expensive as well. When taking the subway or bus, a petite and not-tough person could only look at the crowded subway and sigh.
Hazel looked at her watch from time to time. She was calculating the time.
Today was a special day. It was her first job offer after she had this new manager. She must not be late.
“Don’t worry, I will get you there before 9:30.”
Looking at the traffic jam ahead, Dave was very calm.
His calmness gave him an unfathomable temperament.
“It’s already 9:10.”
Hazel helplessly shrugged. It was a bit hot today. The air conditioning in the car felt too good that she didn’t want to get out.
In fact, the destination was only two kilometers away. But in busy traffic, it could take more than half an hour.
“Don’t worry.”
Dave didn’t say why. He turned on the music, played a hit song, and shook his body to it.
Life needed passion!
Hazel lowered her eyes. Fine, he was still the same Dave that she knew. His taste was awful as ever.
Suddenly her imagination went wild. She saw Dave found a girlfriend, and they stayed together forever. When they were white-haired, they danced and shook their bodies together.
Hazel shook her head.
Then she burst out laughing.
Not bad. It helped ease her stress. Dave made her feel relaxed.
Hazel finally understood why the always expressionless Baron would find someone completely different than him to be the driver. Perhaps, Baron realized troubles and funny guys made life less boring.
Baron said that there was nothing he could not solve.
At 9:15, Dave started to feel anxious. His folded bicycle was in the trunk. He was calculating the distance and planned to let Hazel use it.
This was the reason why he was so calm just now.
“Mr. Floyd will come back next Monday.”
Since they had nothing to do, Dave tried to start a conversation. He brought up Baron’s schedule.
These were company secrets. In the entire company, only he and the president’s special assistants knew these things. But Dave spat it out casually.
Hazel did not want to talk about Baron. She had once turned to Baron and asked about Bruce. But Baron looked at her coldly, and she could feel his disdain.
“Ok.”
Hazel responded. She opened the small mirror in her bag and looked at her face carefully. There was nothing wrong with her face.
“The Past of the Great Qing Dynasty” would start shooting next month and casting was currently underway.
But the male and female leads had already been cast, but it had yet to be made public.
As the two of them talked, the car ahead of them gradually moved. Hazel let out a long sigh of relief. She wouldn’t be late then.
They arrived at the audition venue at 9:29.
Outside the audition tent was a long queue of actresses. They were all looking their best.
Hazel pushed the door open and got out of the car. Under everyone’s surprised looks, she silently went to the end of the queue.
“A rich girl has come to compete with us poor for a small role! What’s wrong with her?”
“Right! Does she have to be so high-profile?”
It was a rare opportunity, and everyone here was a rival so they tended to be a bit hostile to each other.
They left home early in the morning to take the crowded bus and subway. After waiting for more than an hour, they saw Hazel coming elegantly in a luxury car which made them feel even worse.
