Chapter 422 Pretend

Book:Time Travel to Become Your Sweetheart Published:2024-5-28

After knowing the truth, Hazel had a grudge in her heart. She even thought that Elva had brought this suffering upon herself.
She could understand that some people would do anything to gain a chance to be successful in the acting industry. And she had seen such things before. Yet it was still hard to accept the fact that Elva betrayed her. After all, Hazel had been so sincere and kind to her.
Walking down the dim and quiet aisle, Hazel could hear the sound made by her high heels.
Somehow, she felt a little uneasy and nervous.
Baron nodded at her. They immediately understood each other’s intentions when their eyes meet.
Standing by the small window at the door to look inside, Hazel saw that Elva was leaning against the pillow with her arms crossed and looking ahead blankly.
Yet judging from the stiff gesture of Elva’s hands, Hazel could tell that her mind was not blank at all.
“Elva, I came to visit you,” Hazel said as she walked quickly in.
Hazel did not knock. She deliberately came in in a rush with tears in her eyes and pretended to fall as if she were too anxious. Then she stood up clumsily.
She did so to lower Elva’s alertness. She wanted Elva to believe that she was as naive as before.
“Who are you?” Elva screamed with panic.
In an instant, she almost wanted to jump off the bed.
Hazel was not close enough to see the flash of viciousness on Elva’s face.
She had plotted against Hazel. But her plot failed and she became the one who suffered the assault. Now almost everyone knew what had happened to her.
Although her manager had tried everything to reduce the effect and few knew about Plum Blossom, her future development would still be more difficult. Every time she thought of that, her hatred towards Hazel grew stronger.
She felt so unfair that why Hazel, an actress without any powerful background like her, could win a role without paying any price.
Elva sneered in her heart, ‘If I can be as lucky as her, I wouldn’t exchange sex for a role.’
She hated to see Hazel’s innocent face as if Hazel won those roles all by herself. She knew that it was Bruce who recommended Hazel to those directors.
She didn’t think that Hazel was clean. She thought that Hazel was merely pretentious and disgusting.
“I am Hazel.”
Hazel wiped her tears and held Elva’s arm with one hand. She was too emotional to say another word.
As an actress, Hazel knew that silence at the right time could better express her sorrow.
At heart, Hazel felt so pathetic for herself. The friendship she had tried to maintain was just a lie.
In the ward where everything was white, two Japanese-style dolls in red kimonos at the head of Elva’s bed caught Hazel’s attention.
She knew that Elva didn’t like Japanese-style dolls. Elva always said that after watching too many ghost movies, she was afraid that those dolls might be possessed.
Then, these dolls must be sent by others.
“Elva, I know you don’t like Japanese-style dolls. Let me help you put them in the wardrobe.”
Hazel got up and wanted to go around Elva.
“Go away!”
Elva held the dolls in her arms and rolled down from the bed, shrinking into a corner.
Hazel looked at the awkward way she walked. Hazel heard that her organs had been ripped and so she had taken a suture operation.
“Elva, are you blaming me?”
Hazel changed her tactics. She wanted to find out any possible reason for Elva to pretend to be a lunatic.
“Who are you?”
Elva hugged the doll and cried, repeating the same question.
“Hazel, you’d better go back.”
Elva’s parents walked into the ward with food and fruits for Elva.
They had heard about what had happened.
Hazel and Elva were both kidnapped, but Hazel was lucky enough to run away while their daughter became the victim.
Therefore, they weren’t happy to see Hazel here. They even thought that Hazel was just here to mock Elva.
If Hazel was a genuine friend of Elva, she should have visited her as soon as possible instead of showing up after a month.
Thus, Elva’s parents also hated Hazel very much now.
“Please go back. Elva doesn’t recognize anyone. I’m afraid that she will remember something bad after seeing you.”
Elva’s mother was in her forties. She had high cheekbones and drooping eyes, making her look mean.
Elva’s father was a civil servant. He stood aside silently, seeming to agree with Elva’s mother.
Hazel was so angry that she almost could not control herself.
The whole thing was the product of Elva’s scheme. She had been good-tempered enough to step into Elva’s ward, yet Elva’s parents blamed her.
Hazel really wanted to slap the contract Elva signed with the bald manager on the face of Elva’s parents to show them the truth.
But when she thought of her promise with Baron, she refrained herself.
“Mr. and Mrs. Gold, I was injected with an unknown liquid.”
At this time, she had to pretend to be pitiful and weak. Hazel’s eyes turned red as she lowered her head.
In the meanwhile, she observed Elva’s reaction secretly and found that Elva had stopped shaking and was listening to her words carefully.
Hazel sneered in her heart, ‘I’ll show you how an excellent actress act now. Pretending to be naive is just a piece of cake.’
Hazel immediately emerged in the script. She cried about the virus that those people studied and described how she was hijacked on her way to Mapleley, got shot, and had been struggling between life and death.
In comparison, at least Elva’s life was not in danger.
“Is this all true?”
Elva’s father was silent for a long time and finally spoke.
He was a keen man and sensed that there was something wrong with the whole accident. Otherwise, the Special Affairs Team wouldn’t have intervened in this and asked Elva to stay in the hospital which was under their watch.
“I can show you the scar made by the bullet.”
Hazel threw caution to the wind and pulled down the zipper on her back, turned around so that Elva’s mother could see her back.
On her back, new flesh had grown out on the spot the bullet had hit her. The twisted pink flesh was so inconsistent with the other part of the skin on her back that it looked horrible.
When Elva’s parents saw that Hazel had suffered worse, they began to show sympathy to her.
They no longer disgusted her and conversely asked about how she was doing with concern.
“Go away, you bitch!”
Elva roared in Hazel’s direction. Now that Elva was pretending to be crazy, it was okay for her to say whatever she wanted to say.
Elva did not want to see Hazel’s hypocritical face.
She didn’t understand why everyone was on Hazel’s side.
The Special Affairs Team was on Hazel’s side, Bruce was on Hazel’s side, and now even her parents turned to her side. How ironic!
“It’s your friend, Hazel. She comes to visit you. Remember? You told me that she was your best friend.”
Elva’s mother peeled lychee and fed it to Elva while patiently talking to her.
She believed that if she was patient enough, Elva would eventually get over the shadow and become normal again.
Elva, on the other hand, almost choked on the nucleus when she heard this. She had never heard a more disgusting phrase than “best friend”.
“The Past of the Great Qing Dynasty” would start filming next month. Not only would she lose a good role, but she was now being threatened by a mysterious organization and was forced to hide here, pretending to be crazy.
