If a part of the Plum Blossom’s target was Baron, then Baron must have let her go deliberately.
Otherwise, how could it be so coincidental that when Baron went out of the private manor on a rainy day?
During Hazel’s over half a month’s stay in the hospital, Baron suddenly disappeared.
Hazel had no relatives or friends around. Occasionally, she would call her family and tell them that she was busy filming on set and was doing well.
As always, her parents were concerned about every detail of her life and worried that she would starve and eat simply for the sake of saving money.
Hazel always lived that way. She was alone in City J and her living expenses included the fare for rent, water, electricity, and social entertainment. As an actress, she didn’t often wear beautiful clothes. But at least, she had to be clean and tidy. All of these cost her a lot.
The income of being an actress was unstable. When she made more money, she would save up the extra money and send it to her parents to support her brother’s living expenses at university.
Her mother always reminded Hazel not to put too much pressure on herself whenever she called, and the old couple did not need too much money.
And Hazel’s younger brother often told her that he had a part-time job and that she didn’t have to work so hard.
Hazel always listened carefully to their caring words, but when the day came, she would still give them some money on time, even if she could barely afford her own living expenses.
The family was her responsibility.
“Ms. Horatio, Mr. Andrew is here to pick you up from the hospital.”
Dave knocked on the door and waved at Hazel.
The two of them could be considered friends of life and death. They would occasionally joke around, but today, it was a formal occasion.
Hazel left the hospital in confusion. She was still the same as before. When she entered the hospital, she brought nothing. When she left the hospital, she was surrounded by bodyguards. There were three or five bodyguards behind her carrying her bags. She felt like a queen.
When Hazel got into a Mercedes-Benz RV, the doctor and nurse who were seeing her off finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Their hospital was finally safe, and there was no need to worry about whether the hospital would be taken down.
“Ms. Horatio, I’ll tell you about the arrangement for the afternoon.”
In the passenger seat, there was a capable woman who was about thirty years old.
Her long hair was draped over her shoulders, and her face was filled with a professional smile. She looked flawless, as if she was wearing a mask.
For the afternoon, she would immediately take a plane back to City J. Before night, she would go to the hospital to meet Elva.
Speaking of Elva, Hazel felt uneasy.
After knowing Elva’s character and actions, Hazel found it difficult to pretend to be ignorant and still treat her as a friend.
“You used to reject my proposal when I asked you to meet Elva. Why have you changed your mind?”
Hazel pretended to be natural as she turned to look at Baron.
Today, Baron was not in a suit. He was wearing a casual hoodie. If not for his expressionless face, Hazel might have mistaken him for Baron’s twin brother.
Baron would never answer such a stupid question. He pretended to have not heard it and looked down at the newspaper in his hand.
“That’s easy. How can I know what Elva is up to if I don’t see her?”
Dave had a straightforward personality and felt angry for Hazel. He gloated and said, “When the time comes, you can tell her that you are the female leading character of “The Past of the Great Qing Dynasty”. I can’t wait to see her desperate face!”
Dave thought, “How dare you pretend to be mad? I will make you reveal your actual intent and see how bad you can be!”
Dave was delighted as he thought it over and did not care about the tense atmosphere in the car. He was probably the only person who was immune to Baron’s cold aura.
Sensing the situation, Hazel could not help but laugh.
Although Dave had a lot of mean ideas, the words must hurt Elva’s feelings badly.
Being the female leading character of “The Past of the Great Qing Dynasty” was the dream of many famous stars. Hazel could hardly believe that she would get the opportunity as an unknown actress.
When they arrived at City J, it was exactly six in the evening.
There was light rain in the city. Baron walked in front with his bodyguards holding an umbrella behind him.
There were not many people in the VIP lane at the airport. At the exit, there were a few paparazzi with cameras who were peeking their heads out. They were most likely waiting for celebrities to take photos of some unknown explosive news.
One must not underestimate the paparazzi. They could capture both big news like a star beating people up or developing an affair and insignificant news like a star sitting rudely or digging the nose while eating. Nothing could escape the camera.
If one respected the paparazzi and had a good relationship with them, your photos wouldn’t be too bad.
On a rainy day, Baron wore sunglasses and looked very stylish while Hazel followed him like a little assistant.
“Mr. Andrew, the car is here.”
Dave walked in front of the bodyguards with his head held high, while he held a black umbrella.
Although this scene happened more than once, he was still overwhelmed by his own aura.
As expected, Dave’s aura became much stronger when he followed Baron.
Hazel naturally got into the car and chose the seat next to Baron.
This was perhaps a habit. Baron lowered his head and closed his eyes to rest, not saying a word.
He did not realize that he had grown helpless but not disgusted toward the troublesome woman beside him.
A rapid ringtone sounded. Hazel clicked on the screen to answer.
“Hazel, you’ve delayed the rent for a month. Don’t blame me for being heartless. I threw all your things in the corridor. You can come to get your stuff.”
From the other side of the line came a cold and ruthless voice.
This woman was her landlord, who relied on the rent to make a living. Though Hazel didn’t pay her rent on time, it was kind of cruel to throw her stuff out.
“I’ve done my best.” The landlord said.
Hazel wanted to explain, but the landlord had already hung up.
Baron opened his eyes and looked at the raindrops outside the window. After a moment of silence, he said, “Let’s go to your place to get your luggage first.”
“You don’t need to worry about that.”
Hazel’s tone wasn’t nice, and she was unhappy. There was a fury in her heart, and she did not know who to resent.
If she had not trusted Elva, there would have been no kidnapping. If she had not been framed by Plum blossoms, she would not have met Baron and caught up with the hijacking incident.
She was just an ordinary person, hoping to live a normal life, and fantasizing that one day, she would rely on her own ability to win the crown of a movie queen.
But in reality, she was a total failure. Hazel found that everything she dreamed of was getting away from her.
She had no friends, no boyfriend, and no money. Now she did not even have a small room where she could have a moment of peace for herself.
Neither her parents nor her brother was by her side. She was always alone.
Hazel did not shed any tears. She thought that she had cried more times than the amount of her past life.
She had never been a weak person. One with a strong will would always find a way.
“Hazel, how can you talk to Mr. Andrew like that?”
Seeing that the atmosphere was freezing, Dave realized something was wrong. Hazel was the first one to reject Baron so directly. She had really misunderstood Baron’s good intentions!
Dave thought, ‘Hazel is so silly! Can’t she see what a wonderful opportunity this is!
It is miserable for her to be chased out by the landlord and have no place to stay. Shouldn’t she be crying and making a fuss at this time to make Mr. Andrew sympathize?’
But then Dave realized that this might be Hazel’s trick. After all, Baron had no sympathy for people at all.
