Olivia
“Karen?”
“Yes.”
“What happened to you two?”
“Well, we, uh, had a little argument earlier.”
Blake scoffed. “What have you done to the people you love these days, little girl?” Okay, that was harsh and I couldn’t counter him back. Maybe this was my punishment. For being thick-headed and refused to listen to my heart.
“But thanks to her words, I realized that I had to do this. That I have to see you right away,” I stated and found him the side of his lips twitched. He was smiling, definitely.
“You’re sure you wanted to see her today?”
“Yeah. I can’t handle another day remembering I just made her upset because of me. Why?”
“Well…” he paused like he was hesitating on telling me something. “Maybe she’s still working and it’s late already.”
“Karen told me back in school that she doesn’t have any work today.”
“Or she might be busy?”
“What’s gotten into you?”
“Nothing,” he replied so fast. Too fast than usual. He was like…hiding something. “She will be the third person you asked for forgiveness.”
“Stop that!” And he laughed. That was such a terrible joke. He stopped at the red light and turned to me. Still maintaining his charming smile.
“God, I’m so happy having you like this again. But now is different,” he said and took off his seatbelt. Heading towards me and kissing me gently. “Now I can do this. Anytime and anywhere I like.”
I giggled. “You can’t kiss me on the road, Mister.”
“Oh, I can. And I will.” I lost my smile. He was damn serious. I almost forgot who I was dealing with.
“People might see us.”
“Let them.”
“You are crazy.”
“You have no idea.” And he connected our lips again. Pushing his tongue inside. Claiming the inside of my mouth as we moaned on each other’s lips. Oh, how I didn’t want this moment to be over. But it had to when I heard a horn behind Blake’s car. “Fucking hell!” He immediately returned to his seat and started driving again. “You’re going to pay for this, little girl.”
I could only laugh at his threat. His sweet threat. “I mean it, you owe me.”
“Oh? And what did I owe you?”
“About that…you should get ready when we get home.”
I lost my smile in an instant. “What do you mean?”
“I’m taking you to my house.” What?
“I have school tomorrow.”
“And I will take you there tomorrow.”
“I don’t have any change of clothes.”
“Then, I’ll take you home first thing in the morning and I’ll take you to school.”
“No!” This was not going anywhere. I had to stop this. Immediately.
“Excuse me?” he sounded offended.
“We can’t do that, Blake. Not now. I don’t want to make my parents worried about me.”
“For your information, it was your parents’ idea to go back to your bedroom last Saturday.”
“What? They did?”
“They absolutely did. They’re encouraging our relationship, Olivia. Even Taylor trusts me more than Javier which is…weird.”
“Well, dad never trust any guys.”
“Father’s instinct, baby.” I scoffed and ignored him by looking outside the window. I didn’t know the part that my parents were encouraging Blake, my uncle, to had me. That was…crazy. “Will you come?” he insisted. Yeah, he sounded insisted. He tried to sound more like begging but he didn’t do a good job about it. Blake was suck at begging. “I’ll take you home straight after.” Well, that was more reasonable.
I turned to look at him with his eyes still on the road. “Please?” Okay, I couldn’t take it anymore. Although I couldn’t see his face fully, he looked cute. He sounded like a child demanding a toy.
“Alright.”
“Good, because I’ve told your parents that you will come home rather late.” What the hell?
“When did you do that?”
“When you were talking with Javier.” As I thought, Blake was crazy. He was impossible. He did that on purpose just because he wanted to see my reaction. But I should have known; I couldn’t win.
We reached Karen’s house. My heart was pounding. “The house looks empty,” Blake commented.
“Henry is currently on a business trip and Lisa is companying him for a week.”
“Since when?”
“Today,” I replied and he looked at the house for a few seconds until he looked away. I was about to get out until he locked the door. I turned to him. “Open the door, Blake.” He shook his head. “Open the door,” I demanded. He couldn’t do this to me. I knew he wanted me, but Karen needed me. I had to do this and Blake knew that.
“Maybe you should do it tomorrow.”
“Why?” He better had a very good reason why I should see Karen tomorrow.
“It’s late.” That didn’t sound convincing. Like at all. “And I need you.” Okay, that’s it!
“Go fuck yourself, old man.”
“What the fuck you just say to me, little girl? And watch your fucking mouth!” he warned but before I could counter him again, my eyes caught on something. I looked in front of me where I saw a car, a very familiar car, a gray Volvo. I knew that car very well.
I pointed my finger to the car. “That’s John’s car. What’s he doing here?” I asked and turned to see Blake but he was looking away from me. He knew something. “Blake, why is John here?” He turned his blue eyes on me but still not answering my question. “Blake!”
“It’s not our business.”
“Karen is my best friend! I have the right to know and you better open the fucking door!” I demanded again. I didn’t care if he was going to punish me with my filthy mouth and foul language. I had to see why John was here and what he was doing to Karen. I saw Blake exhaled and unlocked the door as I immediately ran to the house. I heard him calling me but I ignored him and banged the door. “Karen!” But nothing happened and I tried again by pressing the bell. “Karen! Are you there?” Again, nothing. I heard Blake’s steps were coming closer.
I grabbed the knob and it was not locked. I knew it was rude to come inside uninvited but I pushed it open and walked inside. “Olivia!” I walked further to the living room until my eyes were wide open in horror.
Karen was under John…kissing. Until their eyes were on me as John immediately pushed himself away from my best friend. Karen was practically half-naked and John was topless, and his trousers were half-opened. My mouth was opened looking at both of them. “Um, hi, Olivia,” John greeted me awkwardly. I could tell Blake appeared behind me. “Good evening, Mr. Morgan.”
“John,” Blake greeted him casually as nothing happened.
I didn’t understand what happened. I saw Karen didn’t need to cover herself as she remained sitting on the couch. I looked at John as I saw some of his naked body and looked away. From the corner of my eyes, I saw him looking at Karen. “I’ve told you this will happen sooner or later.”
“Fuck you, John!” She threw the pillow at him but John merely laughed. Well, his tone when he said that was more licking mocking her. He didn’t sound guilty at all. He put his clothes back on and went to me. He put his hands on my shoulder while smiling.
“Just listen to my girl, Olivia,” he requested. My girl? “She was in a mess when she came home saying she had a fight with her best friend and it stresses her out,” he continued and walked out of the living room as well as Blake. I guessed this was the reason why Blake hindered me to not get out of the car because he saw John’s car and he knew their relationship.
It wondered me when Karen and John began their relationship.
I turned to Karen and walked slowly to her, sitting down next to her, and found her still with her black bra and panties. She looked down between her thighs. She looked…ashamed. “You should put on your clothes,” I said and she raised her eyes to me and smirked at me.
“John’s right. This would happen sooner or later. I never expect it would be this soon.”
“How long have you been dating him?”
“We’re not dating, Olivia. I don’t want to.”
“Why?”
“Because I’m just a kid to him and he will soon realize there are a lot better women than me.”
“But, since when, Karen?”
“Two years ago.” Two years ago? But I never saw them together. No. Wait a minute. Something hit my mind.
“Is he…Is John the one? He’s the person who…took your…” Karen nodded my head. Giving me the answer even without I had to finish my question first. “Oh, my God. Karen.” I was quite shocked. I never thought it was John.
Karen was in love with John since long ago. Ever since they slept together. I couldn’t see it because they looked normal with each other whenever they met. Like nothing happened between them.
“Ever since that night, John always looked for me, saying he couldn’t do it with anyone else besides me,” Karen said.
“Well, that’s sweet. I never imagined a person like John could say that. I mean, you know him. You saw how he acts towards women.”
“I know. But every guy would do that but once they are bored, they will throw us away.”
“John wouldn’t do that.”
“I fucking know that.” I saw her eyes became watery. I smiled and moved closer to her. Wrapping my arm around her shoulders and rubbed it. She laid her temple on my shoulder where I could feel the tears. Karen was holding it back.
“You love him, Karen. But it scares you. Like you said, John is older than you, practically a fully-grown adult, but you know how John treated other women. He’s different when he’s with you.” She sobbed even harder.
I realized now why Karen was being harsh on me. Somehow, she directed those words to herself as well. She didn’t want me to end up like her. Lied to ourselves.
Karen pulled herself up and turned to me with tears in her brown eyes. “You hate me now?”
I shook my head. This girl was crazy for asking me that. “I will never hate you, Karen. It should be me who should apologize to you because I was being pampered too much by everyone around me.”
Karen smiled lightly. “You’re confused.”
“So are you,” I countered and we giggled with each other. Karen soon threw herself to me, hugging me hard.
“I’m sorry I never told you about this.”
“It’s okay, babe. I’m glad that I know it now so I won’t accidentally hurt you.”
“Thank you, Liv.” And she cried again. For a couple of minutes, we stayed like this until she pushed herself from me. She wiped her tears. “So, you are official with Blake now?”
“I don’t know. Maybe.”
Karen smiled widely. “Fucking hell, my ship has finally sailed.”
I chuckled. “Well, you are the Captain and you won’t let it sinking.”
“Definitely not. I’m happy for you, Liv. But how about Javier?”
“We’ve talked about it and being a good man he is, he accepted it.” Karen was looking at me like somehow, she knew I would say that. She could sense Javier would end up letting me go.
“He’s a strong guy, Olivia. He’ll make it.”
“I know he will.” We stood up together and Karen wore her clothes back. The same one from school and walked out of the living room to find our man.
So many had happened today and I hoped this was going to be the start for reaching my true happiness.
