Allyce was about to stand up, but Severo, who was sitting next to her, pulled her back without moving.
Allyce couldn’t say much in the presence of strangers, so she kept her smile on and said, “Hello”.
Evidently, Betsalem had noticed the small gesture between them and his face froze slightly before returning to normal.
Then he smiled and said: “It seems that Mr. Betances did not mention his wife to me.
Severo just looked at her and said nothing.
At that moment, Tajo, who had been sitting watching them, suddenly spoke up: “If I remember correctly, Severo and your father were in business.
A waiter brought the seats and Betsalem took a seat on one side.
As soon as he sat down, he said: “Yes, Count, my father and Mr Betances have been partners for many years and the partnership is solid.
Knowing that Severo had no intention of flirting with her and not making a fool of himself, he didn’t want to embarrass himself at the party and just chatted with Tajo.
He had the good sense not to take up too much of Tajo’s time, as he was the host of the party and had time to spend entertaining other guests, so he left without saying too much.
Allyce took it all in her stride and had to admit that Betsalem was a very smart woman who knew her way around.
The difference between her and Izar is that she is very open and mobile, and has a good family environment.
Stronger than Izar and not very different in appearance.
Allyce found herself comparing the women her husband liked, and thought she might be too bored to laugh a little.
Betsalem left and Tajo turned the conversation back to them.
He looked at the two of them with a worried look on his face: “Are you two getting used to living out here?
“Hmm.” Severo responded indifferently, clearly not wanting to talk to him much.
Tajo’s face changed, but he finally managed to keep the fire in his heart.
Allyce looked a little uncomfortable and said: “It’s pretty good.
“So, I was thinking that if they don’t get used to living out here, they might come back to Solares Castle, I’m getting old and I don’t even have anyone around to talk to, ugh …”
Tajo finished, and shook his head.
I don’t know if it’s Allyce’s fault, but she thinks Tajo is faking a bit of pity.
Having seen Tajo’s methods before, he had to wonder if he was planning something unspeakable again.
Allyce was deliberating what to say when she heard Severo say, “Yes”.
She turned her head in surprise to look at Severo.
“In a few days, we will return to Solares Castle. Severo spoke and gave Allyce’s palm a gentle squeeze.
Allyce, not knowing what Tajo was fighting for or what Severo was up to again, simply stopped talking.
This visit to the banquet was nothing special, apart from the meeting with Betsalem.
Once dinner was over, the two went home.
Only, on their way home, they met Betsalem again.
Betsalem’s car broke down and her driver looked at the car while she stood at the side of the road talking on the phone, wondering what she had said to the person on the other end of the line, looking upset.
But, when the Good House saw Allyce’s car, his eyes lit up and he strides over to stop his car.
The driver had seen Betsalem before, so he knew her. When he saw that she was the one who stopped the car, he stopped immediately and then turned his head towards Severo to ask for instructions on what to do.
“Sir, it’s Miss Betsalem”.
Severo simply said coldly: “Do you know her well?
The driver choked for a moment and stopped talking.
And as if anticipating Severo’s reaction, Betsalem, who was outside the car, went straight to Allyce’s window and tapped on it with an anxious face: “Mrs. Betances …”.
The windows are well insulated and the Betsalem has very little sound.
Allyce paused, rolled down the window and made a puzzled face: “Miss Betsalem.”
“Mrs. Betances, I’m sorry to bother you, but there has been a little problem with my car and I have a very important appointment coming up and I really don’t want to be late, after all that would be rude, so I would like to ask you to give me a lift”.
Betsalem’s face was anxious and apologetic and seemed unusually sincere.
Allyce curved her lips into a smile: “I’d love to help you.
“Thank you.” Betsalem smiled gratefully.
The driver overheard their conversation and got up to open the door for them.
As soon as the car door opened, Severo’s cold voice came: “Sit in the front.
Allyce froze, did Severo let Betsalem sit in the front? It’s the driver’s seat in the front.
How can Betsalem be allowed to sit at the head of the table when the hierarchy is so clearly defined among J’s upper class?
“Don’t listen to him, he’s just trying to pull your leg.” Allyce helped round things off by walking in and gesturing for Betsalem to sit down.
Betsalem’s face didn’t look very good and she certainly knew Severo wasn’t joking with her.
Although he had not had much contact with Severo, he knew something of his character.
He is not the joking type.
Severo turned his head to the side with a cold stare as Allyce spoke to Betsalem while she slipped her hand into his.
Severo resented her for letting Betsalem into the car, and when she touched him, he pulled his hand away as if in a bad mood.
Allyce went relentlessly to take his hand again.
The two steps went back and forth like that for a while, before Severo grunted through his nose and stopped holding his hand.
Allyce felt it move and couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
Betsalem was telling Allyce embarrassing anecdotes from her childhood and, seeing Allyce laugh, laughed with her: “Sure, you think it’s funny too.
“Yeah, you were cute when you were little.” Allyce quickly agreed.
Betsalem looks at Severo without moving, and is slightly frustrated that he seems to be completely offside.
I had an appointment later, only it wasn’t as urgent.
But Severo’s car was passing by, and it would have been foolish not to take it.
It was the first time I had seen Allyce today, but I knew something about her.
Although she was unable to find out more about Allyce, she was able to find out things that everyone knew, such as Allyce’s rumoured “abortion”.
Allyce’s family is not as well off as his.
This shows that Severo likes women and doesn’t care about those external things, as long as he likes them.
He grew up with classmates and partners he liked.
She thinks she has charisma, so as soon as she gets into the car, she deliberately tells Allyce about herself.
She felt Severo would have liked her if he had met her.
As a result, Severo hadn’t looked at her since he got into the car.
