Allyce thought Delfina would call back and simply deleted her number.
If you change the number and call back, do not answer and disconnect again.
However, there were no further calls from strangers on his mobile phone.
Allyce wanted to call Alonzo, but when she looked at the time, she realised it wasn’t convenient and had to stop.
He walked alone down the corridor and took a seat on the sofa.
She laid her head down thinking about her and Severo and fell asleep thinking about it.
When she woke up again, she saw Severo sitting in front of her in a suit.
It has been some time since he underwent surgery and he has not been seen in a suit.
He was a well-built man with a natural way of dressing, and when he put on a suit, he looked so good that you couldn’t take your eyes off him. Clearly a man who had not long been out of hospital, he did not look at all emaciated from serious illness, and his whole body seemed to be in good spirits.
Allyce stared at him for a moment, until she noticed that he was frowning slightly, and Allyce realised that she had been staring at him for too long.
He averted his eyes in panic and shifted his gaze elsewhere: “When did you come down here?
“Go down to the basement.” Severo blurted this out coldly and got up to leave.
When Allyce heard “basement”, the strings in her head tightened.
“What to do in the basement!
Severo’s stride is so big that Allyce has to trot to keep up with him.
As expected, Severo paid no attention to him.
The two men, one in front of the other, walked hurriedly towards the basement.
When he reached the cellar door, he found it half-buried.
There’s someone inside!
The uneasy feeling in Allyce’s heart grew stronger.
Severo stepped forward and was the first to push open the door and enter.
Allyce followed him, her vision blocked by him, and only saw someone inside, but not what the scene was.
As soon as Severo entered, the men stopped what they were doing: “Sir, Madam”.
Then, someone approached with two chairs for Severo and Allyce to sit on.
Only when Severo stepped forward and sat down did Allyce’s vision widen and she caught a glimpse of Gabrio lying on the ground.
He was still wearing the white shirt and black trousers he had worn the day he was arrested.
The white shirt had been stained for some time, as had the red blood.
The stark colour contrast is unusually striking.
Allyce though it occurred to her that Severo might be unkind to Gabrio.
But after seeing it in person, it can still be a little unforgiving.
Gabrio lay motionless, and if it weren’t for the heaving chest, she would have thought Gabrio might be dead.
He turned his head sharply towards Severo, who was asking his men to one side with a calm face: “Did he say something?
With his head slightly bowed, his hand said, “No”.
“You seem hell-bent on dying.” Severo sneered and lit a cigarette.
Seeing that Allyce had not sat down, one of the men reminded her, “Please sit down, ma’am”.
Allyce ignored the henchman and her eyes fell on the cigarette in Severo’s hand: “You can’t smoke.
With that, she reached for the cigarette in Severo’s hand.
Severus avoided Allyce’s delicate white fingers with a slight tug of his lips, grinning like a demon, “You’d better look at your Gabrio a few more times, or you won’t get the chance later.”
She understood the deeper meaning of his words and looked at him with wide eyes and a look of panic in them: “You can’t do that!
Severo laughed mockingly and softly as if he had heard something funny: “Ha!
Allyce clenched her hands and ran full tilt in Gabrio’s direction.
Severo’s dark eyes were bleak as he watched her run in that direction, the cigarette his hand had just taken a drag on already balled up, crumbs of it flying to the ground, his fingers burning and not feeling it at all.
The man behind him, seeing Allyce’s movement, bowed slightly with a tone of desperation, “Sir …”.
Severo merely grimaced in Allyce’s direction and made no move.
When his men saw this, they had to retreat and make no more noise.
Allyce didn’t turn around, but she could feel Severo’s grim gaze sharp on her back.
He couldn’t care less.
Severo has made the decision to have Gabrio killed, and he cannot stand by and watch him die.
He ran to Gabrio, sat down on his knees, held Gabrio’s head and called him by name: “Gabrio!”
Gabrio is covered in spots and blood, his face is also covered in blood, his eyes are slightly open and his whole body is out of breath.
Allyce opened her eyes wide, suppressing the bitterness in them: “Can you hear me?
In all the years I have known Gabrio, I have never seen him in such a state of disarray.
Gabrio saw the person in front of him and a flash of joy shone in his slightly widened eyes, then quickly disappeared.
He twitched his lips and strained to get his voice out, “I … am fine … what are you doing here …”
Allyce, seeing him like this, was even more afraid to touch him, her voice trembling a little, “I’ll get him to let you go.”
“I don’t need you … sympathy …”
No sooner had Gabrio finished his sentence than Allyce was swept away by an arm that suddenly appeared behind him.
He turned his head and saw Severo’s sombre face.
He squeezed Allyce’s wrists and held her tightly in his arms, his gaze settling on Gabrio as if he were some kind of bacteria, his eyes disgusted.
Two seconds later, Allyce heard his cold voice: “Get rid of him”.
That said, he made a strong move to take Allyce away.
Allyce’s mind returned to the images once associated with Gabrio.
When her father was in prison, he was the first to come to her, reassuring her not to be afraid, telling her that there would be a Gabrio in the future, and when she felt harassed and bullied and sad in the Delahoz family, he would bring her favourite food to cajole her ….
The past with Gabrio replayed in his mind like a lightning rod.
It’s all the little things in life, the small but dense things.
His childhood and adolescence revolved around him.
Even if he had done the unforgivable, there was no way she could have seen him die.
I can’t do it.
“No!”
“Clang!”
Along with Allyce’s hissing sound came the sound of the basement door bursting open.
The people in the cellar turned in unison to see a few people hurrying along.
Coincidentally, the man leading the group was a familiar face to Allyce.
Adam!
“Severo, let Dr. Ortis go!” said Adam, his gaze settling first on Gabrio before moving closer.
Severus merely eyed him warily before looking down at Allyce in his arms, his voice so cold it chilled her bones, “You’re such a good wife to me …”
Allyce didn’t quite understand what he meant by his words, but her heart nevertheless skipped a beat.
