Allyce and Dita were startled by the voice.
Dita swallowed saliva, turned her head and bowed ninety degrees to Severo in a particularly formal manner before saying loudly, “Boss, you heard wrong, I said that the rabbits they have in the backyard have been mating lately and it looks like they are marrying their daughters.”
Since when did they have rabbits in the backyard?
Allyce watched silently as Dita lied.
“I have to go with the housekeeper to see if the rabbits have mated successfully, so I’ll leave you to it.” Dita didn’t look up from her head and took a few steps back before slinking off into thin air.
“How long have you been here listening? Why didn’t you make any noise, look how scared you were Dita”.
Only when Allyce finished did she notice that Severo was still in the home clothes he had changed out of earlier, obviously he had just woken up and hadn’t even had time to change.
Allyce frowned a little, looked at the time and realised that Severo had only slept for half an hour, so she asked him, “Why did you wake up so early?
He had fallen asleep just after going to bed earlier and was so deep in sleep that she thought it would take him a long time to wake up.
Severo didn’t say anything either, just looked at her with an expressionless face and condemnation in his eyes.
Allyce touched her face and froze before replying, “I had some trouble sleeping, so I got up ….”
Severo growled coldly, clearly not accepting this explanation from her, turned and walked in the direction of the bedroom.
Angry again?
Allyce followed him slowly, looking at his tall back and thinking about what Dita had just said.
It was hard to imagine Severo being so good-natured in his teenage years as to learn a cooking recipe to make a recipe for a girl he had just met.
Everyone is born with a blank sheet of paper.
Then they are polished and altered in this world, and little by little they change.
Even Severo, now, believes he has good intentions in his heart, but he hides them deeper, with less of the fervour of his adolescence.
He still has the heart of a naked child.
The tall figure who had been walking in front of her stopped abruptly.
He turned to meet Allyce’s surprised gaze, frowned slightly and said in disgust: “Are you stepping on ants?
Allyce bristled, then smiled again and trotted towards him with a smile on her face, hanging on to his arm.
Severo gave her a sidelong glance.
Probably because of the height difference, Allyce felt contempt in Severo’s eyes.
He tugged Severo’s arm in displeasure and walked slowly, hanging on to his arm as if fighting him.
Severo took two more steps before he noticed Allyce’s little trick and stopped.
With one long arm, he went around Allyce’s waist with one hand and pulled her arm with the other, and with a bow, lifted her into a horizontal embrace.
“Hey, you put me down!” Maids were passing by!
And I’d just seen Dita running away and sneaking back in, eh?
It wasn’t until she was back in her room that Severus deposited her on the bed and sat her down, his arms resting on either side of her body and his dark eyes staring at her.
Allyce became a little nervous under his gaze and stammered: “What’s wrong?
He stared at Allyce for a few seconds before suddenly saying: “Dita is two years older than you.
“Hmm.” Although she didn’t know exactly what Severo was trying to say, Allyce nodded to show that she was listening.
“When I met her, she was thirteen years old, skinny and small, but she still stood up to Xabat and prevented him from hitting her.
Severo’s voice was soft and orderly. “The two brothers had been displaced for so long that Xabat sometimes had to go out for food to look after her, and Dita had been raped by a man not long before she met them.
Allyce’s whole body stiffened and froze for a long moment before she uttered a sound: “Did that man rape Dita?
Thirteen years old …
“Hmm.
Severo replied, still with an expressionless face.
“And then what?” asked Allyce.
“Dita is pregnant and Xabat will come to take my wallet because he wants to make Dita have an abortion. Severo said these words with an expression that changed little from beginning to end, as if he was completely indifferent to the whole thing.
Allyce, however, was speechless for a long moment.
I could understand Severo’s psychology at that moment.
It was partly out of compassion and partly for his mother.
Severo did not know at the time the real cause of Ariela’s death.
He was always a bit more sensitive to such things.
The world is full of coincidences.
Severus was a saviour for the two Xabat brothers, and it is not surprising that both brothers were loyal to Severus.
When I heard Dita speak earlier, she only said that Severo was very nice, but she didn’t mention anything about her.
It was normal for him not to mention such things.
Allyce’s heart was unusually heavy.
Everyone lived a life that was not so simple, and you could never tell from a person’s face what had happened to them in this life.
Severo probably told her because of what he heard Dita say.
Allyce tugged at the corners of her lips, smiled and said, “You’re a good person”.
Severo froze for a moment, withdrew his arms that were resting on either side of Allyce’s body and said coldly, “I am not.
“You don’t say.” Allyce kept laughing.
“What’s so funny?”
“I just suddenly feel lucky”.
She really felt lucky.
Many of the difficulties and disasters of her life had been solved for her.
She felt happier than she had ever felt before.
Allyce jumped into Severo’s arms, “As soon as we’re done here, can we go back to Cloud Cit?”
He said, but then felt bad about it.
“But if we go back to Cloud Cit, we won’t be able to see Dita, I think it’s good that we all live together like we do now. Like a big family, with a big house and a lot of hustle and bustle.
“You’re thinking too much.” Severo’s mouth was blowing her away with that thought, but instead of pushing her away, he moved closer and wrapped his arms around her.
Allyce grunted: “How come I’m thinking too much?
Severo looked at her with an idiotic face: “Everyone has to get married and have children”.
“And still live together?” replied Allyce.
Severo didn’t bother to talk to her any more and turned away to go to the bathroom.
At that moment, there was a knock at the door.
Allyce went to the door and saw Xabat standing in the doorway with an anxious look on his face.
Allyce asked herself: “What’s going on?
Xabat paused before saying: “There is news from Adam.
Having not heard that name for a long time, Allyce froze for a moment before answering who Adam was.
