Allyce looked at him in disbelief.
His heart was pounding and he opened his mouth to say something, but could not make a sound.
She felt so incredulous.
Seeing her like this, Severo reached out and touched her face with some pain, “Do you trust me?”
She nodded emphatically: “Yes, I believe you”.
“I have never touched another woman except you, so even if I had a child, it could only be from you.” Severo finished and stared at her, as if waiting for her to state her position.
But tears suddenly welled up under Allyce’s eyes.
He said in a trembling voice: “Our son?
Severo seemed determined: “Ours”.
At that moment, a maid knocked on the door.
“Sir, Dr. Griego is here”.
Severo’s expression tensed a little when he heard it was Victorino, then he spoke calmly: “Send him up in three minutes”.
Allyce began to wipe her eyes at the servant’s words: “What is Dr. Griego doing here?
“You’ll find out later.” Severo looked a little agitated.
Allyce looked at him but didn’t ask any more questions, Victorino probably had some exciting news for him, anyway Victorino would arrive soon and she would find out by listening together.
Three minutes later Allyce had collected herself and Victorino went upstairs.
Victorino was the same as the last time Allyce had seen him, a straight suit, a pale face and a somewhat cold look.
He was carrying a kraft paper bag in his hand and his face was a bit strange.
As he entered, he spoke respectfully: “Sir, Madam”.
“Doctor Griego!” said Allyce, nodding towards him.
Immediately afterwards, a servant brought tea.
Severo asked: “Are the results in?
Not knowing what was wrong with Severo’s question, Victorino’s expression changed for a moment, pushing his glasses down on the bridge of his nose out of habit, before saying, “Yes”.
He looked up at Allyce before slowly opening the kraft paper bag in his hand, which reminded Allyce that the last time Victorino had come to the house with a kraft paper bag, it had been on Alonzo’s business.
There was something strange in the feeling in his heart.
Suddenly, neither man spoke again.
Suddenly, Severo reached out and took the kraft paper bag from Victorino’s hand: “I’ll see for myself.
He unwrapped the paper bag with some eagerness, ripped it open and pulled out a piece of paper from inside.
Allyce sat a little away from Severo because of the presence of the outsiders, and Severo had deliberately tilted the piece of paper so that even if Allyce tilted her head to look, she could not see anything.
Allyce lifted her foot from under the table and kicked Severo, but her words were directed at Victorino: “Doctor Griego, have some tea”.
Victorino just nodded coolly, took a polite sip of his tea and put it down again, as if something was on his mind.
Severo, on the other hand, read the paper and then put it away on a kraft tape, with a smile on his lips the whole time.
Victorino, as if he had finally made up his mind, spoke with a somewhat grave expression: “Senor …”.
Severo’s face still had a smile on it: “We’ll talk about it another time, I’ll come and see you”.
Victorino was slow to see the human condition, but at least he had an eye for it. He glanced at Allyce again, nodded and got up to leave.
Allyce was not curious about Victorino’s haste, although it seemed a little strange.
What he was curious about was what Victorino had given Severo.
Apparently anticipating what Allyce had in mind, as soon as Victorino left, Severo leaned over to Allyce and said in a deep voice: “Give me a kiss first”.
Allyce bristled, “You’ll show me first.”
It’s just a kiss, there’s a lot of kissing in general, but every time Severo takes the initiative to ask for a kiss, it seems very solemn and weird, which makes Allyce a bit embarrassed.
“Anyway, you can’t help wanting to kiss me.” With a mysterious smile, Severo pulled out the piece of paper and handed it to Allyce.
Allyce quickly grabbed the piece of paper as if she feared Severo would back out.
It was not the first time he had seen the DNA report, so this time he understood it as soon as he looked at it.
His throat felt a little dry when he opened his mouth and it took him several attempts to make a sound: “Is this the DNA comparison report between me and Alonzo?
Severo had already reached out and taken her in his arms, his voice low, but unable to hide the pleasure he felt. “Are you so happy that you want to kiss me?
Allyce laughed and punched him twice before moving in for a kiss.
As she did so, she burst into tears.
At first it was a very small moan, but then it got louder and louder.
Severo managed to catch his blurred words: “I really thought he was dead”.
He said nothing, but put his arm around her and gently patted her shoulder to comfort her.
He had also thought that the boy was really dead.
Looking at Allyce’s tearful gaze, he stopped the rest of his words from coming out.
The fact that Alonzo survived in such a strange way was certainly not because Desiderio had tried to save him.
There was only one possibility, and that was that Alonzo was in fact an experiment.
It is not known what the “k7” medical research team is working on, nor how far they have come in terms of medical technology and medicine.
But what is certain is that they are still investigating in an unknown way.
Whether the medicine Amado Mejía had given him and the Alonzo he had survived were the core of the k7 investigation, or the tip of the iceberg, he did not yet know.
What he didn’t realise was that the Grizzi mafia organisation had targeted him more than two years ago, and that they had used his son for experiments.
Whether it survives or not, the most important thing now is to eliminate these potential dangers.
In the future, although he will be gone, Allyce will be able to live in peace and health.
The money he had left her would probably be more than she could spend in several lifetimes, and the thought that her son would grow up to care for her was reassuring.
Severo’s mood was not much calmer than Allyce’s, but he was always introverted, so he didn’t show it too much on the surface, just whispering to Allyce: “Don’t cry, let’s go see him, okay?
Allyce nodded her head repeatedly.
Before, she had only been convinced to accept Alonzo because he was very sweet and loving, and because he was related to Severo.
And now Alonzo was really his son.
