Victorino held a kraft tape in his hand and replied: “Hmm”.
The gaze was cold and distant.
Allyce didn’t mind either, as she knew Victorino had that kind of personality.
Victorino pulled up his glasses out of habit and said: “The gentleman is here too, isn’t he?
“Yes, he’s in the study, go and get him.” Allyce didn’t care much about the result, she didn’t believe that Alonzo could be Severo’s son.
And Victorino had made the trip, probably looking for Severo for something else.
Victorino nodded slightly: “Come upstairs with me too, madam”.
With that, he headed upstairs.
Allyce’s heart lifted uneasily.
The look on Victorino’s face was a clear indication that the DNA comparison was not what Allyce had expected.
Now that he had spoken, Allyce followed him anyway.
Only that his heart felt heavy for no reason.
Victorino stepped forward, knocked on the door and waited to hear Severo’s “Pase” before pushing the door.
Severo looked up and was surprised to see Victorino.
“What brings you here?”
At the end of his sentence, he caught a glimpse of Allyce, who had followed Victorino, and his expression changed imperceptibly.
Allyce was thinking about herself and didn’t realise it.
Severo’s eyes sank slightly and he left his work with a hint of menace in his tone: “Victorino”.
Victorino went straight to his desk, unwrapped the kraft paper tape he was holding and pulled out the DNA report and put it in front of him. “I took twenty DNA loci from Alonzo and you and analysed them separately, all the results were the same. ”
Victorino finished and looked at Severo, waiting for him to speak.
Severo, who was always calm and self-possessed, was a little overwhelmed by this.
After a glance at Victorino, she looked at Allyce, who was standing a short distance away, frozen by what she had heard Victorino say, and asked, “What’s going on?”
Allyce shook her head stiffly, “Dr. Griego said Alonzo is his real son, ask yourself that, how should I know …”
It had not even occurred to him that it might be possible.
How could this be possible?
Wasn’t Alonzo the son of Delfina’s brother? How could he be Severo’s son?
Given Victorino and Severo’s friendship, it was impossible for him to have faked it.
Alonzo was one and a half years old, born prematurely.
Allyce unconsciously did a mental tally of the time; she had been away for two years and it had been several months since her return.
If Severo had found another woman when she first left, the time was right …
Severo saw that Allyce also looked disbelieving, picked up her gaze and turned to her with his hand: “Come here.
Allyce walked obediently on.
Severo got up from behind his desk and waited for Allyce to approach, then pressed her down on the sofa before looking back at Victorino, “Victorino, what do you think, what’s going on?”
His face was glowing and he looked a bit scary.
Victorino had a calm face, had less contact with people, was cautious and careful when investigating, but was still coarser and more deified when it came to human relations.
“Shouldn’t you be happy that you found your son?
Victorino was a bit puzzled, shouldn’t he be happy? Both couples had stony faces.
Allyce lowered her eyes to hide the loss in them: “I was pregnant two years ago, only I had a little accident and the baby … disappeared”.
Victorino then reacted as a witticism: “Isn’t Alonzo your son?”
“It’s not mine.” Allyce said and turned her face away.
Severo saw that Allyce’s face wasn’t right and, annoyed with himself, shouted directly at Victorino: “If you take another DNA test, I don’t believe the results.”
Victorino had the courage to say: “Even if we do it again, the results will be the same, and I can swear on my integrity as a healer that this report is absolutely true and reliable”.
The more confident Victorino acted, the colder Allyce felt in her heart.
He stood up with a forced smile on his face: “Let’s talk while I get a glass of water.
“Allyce!”
Severo got up after her and caught up with her.
Allyce avoided his hand and whispered: “I’m a little thirsty, let me get some water first, okay?
He really needed a glass of water to calm down.
Severo had a son, not his own.
He had a child with another woman.
Other women …
Allyce clenched her hands and fled.
Victorino had a vague sense that Allyce seemed annoyed, but she had not forgotten her business.
He turned his head and continued: “Mr. …”.
Severo pulled Victorino back, his voice cold and hard: “I only told you to redo the identification, and if the results remain the same, I will not support you in your investigation.
Even after this treatment by Severo, Victorino asked with a calm face, “What does that mean?”
“It means I need the right identification results! Is that clear?” said Severo, and let him go.
Victorino snorted, frowning and smoothing the folds of his shirt before speaking, “Mr. Betances, are you asking me to tell your wife that I am wrong in this identification report?”
With that, he shook his head to himself: “That’s not possible”.
“If I say it’s wrong, it’s wrong.” Severus pursed his lips tightly, anger rising in his dark eyes.
He had never even touched a woman other than Allyce, so how could a one-and-a-half-year-old son suddenly appear out of nowhere.
It was ridiculous.
“I am sorry, but if you are so insistent, I am sorry to say that I cannot manipulate the results even if you do not support me in my research in the future, I will not go against my own work ethic for anything.
Victorino finished without condescension and simply turned to leave.
Severo kicked over a nearby flowerpot and smashed the DNA report to pieces.
Only then did he go downstairs to look for Allyce.

Allyce left the studio and poured herself a large glass of cold water before realising that her hands were shaking slightly.
No matter what anyone else said, she could trust Severo unconditionally if he said so.
However, the truth was there.
Severo had a child with another woman.
This irrefutable fact left Allyce completely unable to argue.
Even if Severo had made a mistake in a moment of confusion, she was still ….
At that moment, she heard footsteps behind her.
Turning his head to see that it was Victorino, he spoke and asked, “Is he gone?”
“Yes.” Victorino looked at her and wanted to say something.
