“What’s up? Are you already finished?” Bel asked. I shifted my gaze to her and I saw her peeking at the door.
“Almost, Bel. I’ll comb my hair then I’m done,” I replied and returned my gaze to the mirror. I reached for the hair comb placed on top of the bedside table.
“All right. I already fixed Clark’s food for his lunch. It’s in the tupperware,” Bel added, which made me smile. I turned my gaze back to her.
“Thank you very much, Bel.”
She just nodded at me before she closed the door. I went back to comb my hair. When I was done, I smiled and then left the room. I went straight to the kitchen and I found Bel leaning against the wall with her arms crossed. She seemed bored based on the expression I could see on her face.
“Am I taking too long?” I jokingly said. She shifted her gaze from the floor in my direction. She stepped forward away from leaning against the wall and seemed dumbfounded while eyeing me from head to toe.
“Angela… You look stunning,” she commented breathlessly. I could see the admiration in her eyes. I couldn’t help but blush like a ripe tomato.
“You’re flattering me, Bel.”
“Seriously. You’re indeed beautiful today, Angela. Believe me. For sure Clark will get drool on you,” she exclaimed. My face blushed even more at what I heard. Especially the last word she said.
“What do you think of Clark? He’s not the kind of guy who will get drool. It’s impossible for a man like him to act like that,” I dismissed the conversation and approached the table where a paper bag that I was sure a tupperware with food is placed inside.
I felt she approached my direction.
“You don’t believe me, don’t you? I’m dead serious here, Angela. You’re stunning right now. Hays… If only I can make you mine and bring you to my home.”
“Huh?” I seemed to be deafened at what I heard. I shifted my gaze from the paper bag to my left side where Bel is currently standing. I didn’t know if what I heard was correct. Her voice was so low that I could no longer hear it.
Bel burst out laughing in front of me and shook her head. Later, she looked at my face. She stared at me straight in my eyes. I didn’t know but she seemed to have something she wanted to say but she couldn’t. It looked like something stopping her from doing that.
“It’s nothing… I said you’re deaf. Oh, hey! You are already good to go. Your Clarky is now hungry. Hurry up, hurry up! Clark is waiting for you,” she woos me away as she waved her hands.
I just laughed at what I saw.
“Okay. I gotta go,” I rode on her joke that made her smile.
“Hey… Be careful on the trip, huh?” she reminded me. I smiled at her and hugged her tightly. I felt her body stiffen for a while but relax after a few seconds.
“Thank you, Bel,” I thanked her and let go of our embrace. She smiled at me but I could see that her eyes did not seem happy.
Is there any problem?
Even though I wanted to know what makes her feel like that, I could no longer confront her right now. I’m going to be late. I need to deliver the food to the company that Bel and I cooked for Clark as a thank you for the gift he gave last week.
I turned my back in Bel’s direction and picked up the paper bag on the table. Again, I faced Bel.
“I gotta go, Bel. Kokoy and Maymay will be coming home soon from playing outside. When they come and I’m still not here yet, you can eat first together with my siblings, hmm?”
She nodded.
“Aye aye, madam!” she replied and saluted in front of me which made me laugh.
“All right. Bye-bye,” I said goodbye to her and I finally left the house.

“Ma’am, we’re already here,” I was startled when the taxi driver spoke. I immediately glanced out the car window.
People in formal attire. Tuxedo and office suits I could see in every vicinity of the building. I took a deep breath first and slowly exhaled. I looked at the paper bag on my lap that I was carrying containing the tupperware with food. I turned back my gaze to the taxi driver and pulled out the fare payment from my pocket.
“Thank you,” I thanked him after I handed over the payment. The taxi driver bowed his head a little at me. I smiled at him sparingly and got out of the car.
My eyes stared at the entrance door of the company and I slowly lifted my gaze to the top. After a second, I was amazed to see how tall the company building that Clark owned was. It is tall and looks elegant. I’m not sure how many floors there are in his building.
I turned my gaze back to the entrance door and sighed.
This is it. I don’t look like a prostitute in my yellow floral dress and doll shoes, right?
I just closed my eyes tightly and opened my eyes again before I decided to walk toward the building.
“Good morning, ma’am. What’s your business inside?” the guard politely asked.
I was startled and looked at the guard who was asking me.
“Ah… I’m here to bring Clark’s food.” After I said that, he immediately gave me a way to get inside. He even pointed out where the elevator was and what floor Clark’s office can be found on. I thanked the guard before entering the elevator.
After arriving on the floor of Clark’s office, I couldn’t help but look around. Every detail of this floor is painted in black and gold theme. It’s so nice to look at and it seems like you can tell the person who’s taking an office in this area is not just an ordinary person.
As I was walking, I saw an office desk where a woman was busy in front of the computer. I bravely approach her direction.
“Hello…” I said in a shy tone. The woman’s gaze was shifted from the computer screen to me. She looked at me intently and glanced at the paper bag I was holding.
“You’re probably Angela, right?” she asked and I nodded softly as an answer.
“I see. Sir Clark expected you to come today. Do you see that door?” she asked while pointing to the left side where there was a door painted in black.
I nodded in response to the woman.
“That is his office. Just go inside,” she said with a smile and looked back in front of the computer. She seemed busy with her work.
I first thanked the woman before stepping towards the door where Clark’s office was found.
I slowly opened the door.
“Natasha, please not now.”
“But your mother says we will be having a dinner date later together with my dad.”
“Come on, Natasha! I thought the last time we talked you didn’t like the idea of marriage that our parents arranged, right? So what is this-Angela!” Clark exclaimed in surprise when he saw me standing at the door. He got up from his seat and approached my direction. The woman who was standing in front of his desk turned in my direction. I could see that she was looking at me critically from head to toe. I don’t know what the woman named Natasha is thinking right now as she glances at me.
“Angela! You’re here,” Clark seemed shocked to see me suddenly in his office. He immediately approached me. I stared at his handsome face which now seemed to have run out of blood due to an unexpected event.
From what I heard earlier, I couldn’t help but think something fishy. I don’t want to doubt Clark but… what I heard earlier is confusing and hunting me.
“Yes, I’m here. Don’t you know that I’m coming to bring you food? Why do you look surprised?” I asked him in a sarcastic tone. I could no longer hide this jealousy I felt right now especially since Natasha who’s been talking to him lately has fair skin, is tall, looks classy, and indeed beautiful.
“I think I should go.”
We were distracted when someone spoke. Clark and I both looked in Natasha’s direction. She grabbed the sling bag that was on the office chair and hurried out of the office.
After Natasha left. I turned my gaze to Clark who was now looking straight into my eyes. He seemed to be reading what was running on my mind right now.
“I think we should talk about this. Please, kindly have a seat,” Clark said in a serious tone and motioned his hand to the chair across from his desk.
I just nodded to him and sat there then he sat in his office chair. Now we were facing each other. He laid his two hands on the top of the table and intertwined them. He took a deep breath before looking at me.
In what expression I saw on his face, it didn’t seem like a joke what Clark would be going to say today.
I gulped
Don’t let me down, Clark. I love you.
