A ROOM FOR THREE
I walked behind Jason and beside Ryder. I’m a little bit afraid that Patrick might find us. Then I’m worried about my mom. She must have called Pearl to find me. I need to come up with a reason to tell her. If only I could find a valid reason.
I watched it when Jason unlocked the room after we came up through the lift. The room is not as big as I thought. It has a single room with one bed and a restroom. But it looks tidy like we are first-person entering it.
” Can you find the bandages? They must be having a first-aid somewhere.” Jason ordered Ryder as he went without any word. I almost forgot the pain in my wrist. Thank god, he didn’t cut the knife on my veins. The cut wasn’t that deep for me to faint in the middle of the road.
Jason guided me to the restroom to wash my hands. ” I hope it wasn’t that deep,” Jason said, untieing the cloth.
” No. I’m so grateful for that. I didn’t want to faint near Patrick who might be killed at that spot.”
” Do you think I will be watching for it to happen?” he asked as he turned the tap.
” If you did something, it will be like risking your life. I know I started this topic, but let’s avoid it tonight. I keep on remember the moment again and again.” I said as I tried to control the vision which comes in my mind frequently.
” Maybe you need a distraction. Try to think of any good things, Milly.”
” I got the bandage,” Ryder entered at the moment. It hurts when I felt the water on my skin. Am I too weak? This single cut hurts too much. What if something bigger happened if I didn’t pick Patrick’s feet with my heel? I feel like a pessimist now.
” I’m sorry for not taking you to the hospital, Emily. It’s risky to do it today.” Ryder apologized as he wrapped the bandage carefully.
” I don’t even want to go to the hospital. First of all, I’m not a good liar. Then they may think I tried to suicide.” I laughed a little thinking about it.
” It’s not funny, Emily. Who cares what the doctors think? But I think there’s no need since the knife cut isn’t even close to any veins. He just did it to feel the pain and not faint at the moment.” Ryder said with anger.
“Anyway, where’s my phone? I need to call Pearl and my mom. Just give me an idea to tell a reason. She must be thinking I’m missing.”
Jason walked to the room to get my phone. Ryder’s thinking deeply for the solution.
” You got ten missed called from Pearl. Well, you are not the only one. She called me too. When did she get my number? ” Jason said, holding both phones in his hand. He called back on my phone.
” It’s done. Now, go and take rest. We will talk with Pearl. She’s will defiently help you.” Ryder assured and motioned his hands to sit on the couch. I can’t relax like everything’s fine.
” No, I will talk with…” I was about to argue and heard Pearl’s voice on the phone.
” Hey, it’s me, Jason. Don’t search for Emily. She can’t come home today.” Jason simply told her without any explanation.
” What? That’s it? Where is she? I told her mother that she went to dinner with you guys. Now, she’s calling me when she will return. I can’t come with any other excuse. I even called you but I got no response.” Pearl fired at Jason. My best friend who liked to have Jason’s autograph is shouting him. Many changes happened in just a week.
” Give me the phone. I will talk to her.” I snatched the phone from him.
” Pearl, Explain come with an excuse. I can’t really come home or talk with my mother. I will fill you with everything once I’m back home. I won’t be coming to school tomorrow. I hope you understand my situation.”
” Em? I don’t want to stress you but this is the second time you got in a situation like this. You do remember the first time, right? You can’t repeat it again and again. Nowadays, you are getting into many troubles. I don’t want that for you.” she said as calm as she can sound. I frowned. Both times, Patrick’s been the problem.
” I know. I promise you it won’t happen again.”
” I trust you. What do I need to do now?”
” Tell her mother that she’s having a girl’s night in your home,” Ryder suggested Pearl as he took near the phone speaker.
” But we already had a girls night a few days back,” Pearl murmured.
” It’s okay. We both reunited after many years so there’s nothing wrong in having two girl’s night in a week.” I convinced her and she agreed to Ryder’s idea. I don’t want to lie to my mom but saying that I got kidnapped two times won’t be a good thing. She will be panicked and may even take me back to Paris. That’s the last thing I wanted in my life.
” So, what about you, guys? You didn’t call anyone?” I asked the boys. They both shrugged the shoulder in the exact same timing.
” I will go downstairs to see whether they are providing dinner or we can get it from outside,” Jason informed and left the room.
” Emily? I can’t wait anymore. I want to say what happened to me and Patrick a long time ago. I thought I would wait till tomorrow. But it seems like I want to share it with you here. If you don’t want to hear now, I will some space.” Ryder rushed the words as if he’s holding it too long. Who knows when will I get a chance to know it if it’s not today?
” I don’t need space, Ryder. I want you to tell me everything.” I confirmed.
” That’s good to hear. Where should I start?” He ran his hands over his hair while thinking.
” It all happened when I was eighteen years old.” He began.
” Wait a minute. You know I’m gonna turn eighteen. In your case, you are already eighteen, right?” I interrupted him.
” I’m twenty, Emily. I was in prison for nearly a year. I would have been a graduated student by now but fate doesn’t work the way I wanted it to be.”
