HATRED
Patrick, Ryder and I followed her to the principal’s room.
” Why the hell are you thinking, Emily? Why do you want to stop me?” Ryder fires at me. I never saw him angry. Maybe it’s because of his hatred towards Patrick. But I only wanted to help him.
” I… I… You would have gotten into trouble. I tried to stop it before you kill him. I don’t want you to end up in jail. I know I was stupid to stop you. Now I’m caught in the middle of this problem. I don’t even know what’s this all about.” I talked like I’m so close to tears. I should not cry for a simple thing. I’m not in kindergarten.
” Yeah, you are stupid to do that. You don’t even need to involve in this.” He snapped without looking at me. Patrick was silent the whole time. He watched the argument like an entertainment show on TV.
I decided not to continue the conversation but Ryder did. ” Do you think I would stop myself from killing him if you stepped forward?”
” Shut up. I didn’t say that. I should have watched you kill a guy or watched him kill you,” I grumbled.
” Uh-huh. Do you any other thing to say? I know you are too kind to watch anyone getting harmed. But I don’t even call you to stop it.”
” I said I was stupid by trying to involve in it when I know nothing about you and vengeance towards some guy. I don’t know anything. You know what? I don’t deserve to get caught in this problem. I should have not talked with you in the first place. As my friends said, you are a troublemaker. Some even said, you already been to jail. It’s my fault trying to help a killer,” I shouted. Did I talk too much? If yes, I don’t care.
” You can’t talk like this, Emily? Are you trusting others who are spreading rumours about me? I thought you were different. You are behaving like every other in our school.” that’s the last thing Ryder uttered. Then we are inside the Principal’s room. Mrs Cyrus is seated on her table, signing some papers. She gets frustrated the moment we entered the room.
” You, again. I wish I never gave admission to you in Edgewood high. Can’t you go a day without making any trouble? You should be in juvie instead of giving headaches to us.” she complained.
Her eyes wandered over Patrick. ” Here, he is. Do you know how much I was relieved when you are out of the city for a few months? Now, you are back. Again.” Then her eyes shifted towards my face. I know she doesn’t even recognize me. I only attended the interview a few days ago.
” What’s your name?” she asked opened a notebook filled with many students name in 11th grade.
” Emily Collins,” within a minute, she found the exact page she has been looking for. After observing the page she turned back to me. ” You don’t seem like a troublemaker. You are a newcomer, right?”
” Yes… Yes, madam,”
” There’s not a negative record about you in the previous school you were studying. What’s wrong now? Why did you involved in issues related to these students, Ms Collins.”
” I wasn’t, mam. I was trying to stop the fight. That’s the only thing I did. But she brought me without hearing my valid explanation,” I said mentioned about our incharge teacher.
” It doesn’t make sense. Who wants to involve themselves just to stop a fight?”
” She’s probably lying to us. Let’s give detention to those three students and get over it, madam. We have a lot of things to take care of. They are wasting our time.” She tried to convince Ms Cyrus.
” No. I’m not lying. Ryder’s my friend so I don’t want him to get in any trouble. That’s my only intention. I got nothing to say other than this.” I argued for myself.
” I’m not interested in investigating further more about this issue. You got detention for one day by not entering any classes, Ms Collins. If you are concerned about your studies, you would probably stay away from Mr Blake and carry on with your studies hereafter.” She confirmed. She took some documents and stood up from the table to leave the room for some work.
” Take back your words, Madam. Emily is not getting any detention. She literally did nothing in this problem.” Ryder order, losing his temper. Why does he need to help me? He yelled at me a minute ago for trying to help him. He’s not considerate me as a friend.
” Learn how to behave like a disciplined student, Mr Blake. You don’t have the rights to order me.” She stood by the entrance of the class. Anger flashed through her eyes.
” So, am I getting detention too? I will be glad to get a leave for one day just like that girl got her detention.” Patrick interrupted. There’s no seriousness in his voice. I don’t even know how he could be a danger to Ryder.
” I got some other detention for you too.” She said without saying what it is. But I won’t be here to see it. I will be going home for the unidentifiable trouble I have made today. Now I really can’t control my tears or my anger. My anger towards Ryder. The way he behaved hurts me. Everything leads to detention. I never had a bad record in school in my life. Why everything has to change in Edgewood high. I walked out of the room once the principal is gone. I need to pack my bags.
” Emily, wait,” I heard the voice which made me freaking angry. I acted like I’m deaf and walked without stopping by. But Ryder followed me and grabbed my hands gently.
” Go away, Ryder. I don’t want to see your face.” I shrugged from the grasp of this hand.
” Just stop, Emily. I want to apologize,” he said in a demanding tone. Before I could take another step, he blocked my way. As I was walking in the corner, my back was facing the wall. So, there’s no way to escape from Ryder unless he let me go.
” I’m… I’m sorry. Please, don’t believe the rumours spread by some idiots. I’m not saying whatever they are saying is a lie. But there’s an explanation for everything I have done which nobody knows. I can’t simply say it now. I need time. But don’t avoid me for these silly reasons.” He said it trying to be polite as much as he can.
” I didn’t ask any explanations, Ryder. I don’t want to know it. I didn’t expect you to be harsh while I was trying is to help you. Can you move now? I hate being here with you right now.” I said without looking at him for a single second. My eyes were fixed on the floor.
” I’m not letting you go until you calm down,” He stubbornly said. Why is he acting like this? I can’t calm down in just a minute. He can rather show his hatred towards Patrick than trying to talk with me.
” That’s not going to happen. Move,” I said in a demanding tone. What I didn’t expect at the moment was to hear another familiar demanding tone.
” She told you to move. Can’t you hear her?”
That voice belongs to Jason.
