The viewpoint of Irene Nadine
After I received a phone call from Ryan Campbell during filming at three o’clock in the afternoon, when I had surreptitiously made money, I panicked. I apologized to the other employees before going to the corner to pick up the phone.
“Where have you gone?”
I listened to the chilly tone and realized he had probably discovered I wasn’t at home before phoning, “Outside.”
“What are you doing?”
“… simply go for a walk.”
Ryan Campbell reasoned that I was bored at home alone and that it was reasonable that I should go for a walk. “Give me your address and I’ll pick you up.”
I can’t leave because we’re just halfway through filming, but it takes nearly half an hour to finish. “I’ll go back by myself,” I offer, not knowing if Ryan Campbell has the patience.
“I’ll find you and take you wherever you want to go.”
“I’m not going; go by yourself.”
“Nadine Irene!”
My heart was empty as soon as he yelled at me, so I had to answer meekly, “You send me the address, and I will find you.”
“Are you sure you’re not going to get lost?”
“You say a location I can find.”
Ryan Campbell paused for a bit before saying, “Just the cinema the last time you went to watch the movies. Wait for me at the gate.”
“Ok.”
I was relieved to be able to hang up the phone. It was predicted that he would drive to the theatre in a few minutes, whereas I would take at least half an hour to get there.
I took my time taking the following photo, and the photographer saw I was in a rush and sped up the process, but it still took over twenty minutes.
I changed my clothes and went straight to the cinema. When I saw multiple missed calls on my phone, my heart was quietly screaming bad, and I felt compelled to call him back.
Only when the phone rang did he connect with the other end, and his tone was dissatisfied, “Why don’t you answer the phone?”
I stumbled and said, “My phone mutes. I didn’t hear anything.”
Ryan Campbell gave me a skeptical glance before asking, “So, what took you so long? Don’t tell me I’m completely lost.”
“No, I purchased something.”
He took a glance at my empty hands. “Where are the things?”
I moved my line of sight, whispered, “Eat.”
“I asked you to eat less junk food. Do you frequently go out to steal it?”
“No, you didn’t say you were going to take me somewhere, did you? Move quickly.”
I rushed forward, but Ryan Campbell stopped me, looked me in the eyes, and asked, “Who are you going to meet, why do you put on some cosmetics.”
“I’m idle and bored at home, so I practice.”
Ryan Campbell nodded without more questioning and took me to the pre-booked restaurant.
The piano tune was heard over the loudspeaker. Ryan Campbell brought me quickly to the second level and into the independent private room before I could enjoy it.
“What brings you here for dinner?”
Ryan Campbell drew out the stool and seated me. “I just came across a random location, and you haven’t been here before. I’ll bring you here to try it out.”
“You said you’d take me to one spot, is this it?” I pouted.
Ryan Campbell sat across from me and asked, “Or what?”
“Just having a meal , why do you make everything so mysterious.”
“See what you want,” Ryan Campbell said as he handed me the menu.
I had a look at the menu. It was costly and full of beef.
A casual steak costs hundreds of dollars. Anyway, I’m not going to eat here. It’s over the top.
I took a quick look through it and handed him the menu, saying, “I’m not sure which one is delicious, you order it.”
Ryan Campbell also did not make me feel embarrassed. He ordered dinner and several snacks based on my preferences.
Ryan Campbell said, “I have something for you,” after seeing me eat and wipe my lips.
I stared at him perplexed, never expecting him to be surprised because he didn’t have to waste any efforts on me.
Ryan Campbell had attempted it numerous times in his head, but his articulate mouth had become awkward. He just took out the ring box and motioned , “Hand over here.”
I was stunned, but I shrank my palm and asked, “Why?”
“How can we be married for so long and not have a ring?”
I buried my hand even more when I heard this. “I don’t want a ring, and you don’t have to buy it for me,” I murmured, looking down at him.
Kathy Clark is more suited to this type of stuff.
Ryan Campbell had not anticipated my refusal. He expected me to be astonished to see it, and to put on the ring, but he was rejected by me.
“If you don’t like it, I’ll take you tomorrow to pick another one.”
“I’m not interested in these.”
“My mum presented this to me. You must wear it on weekends when you go home.” He briefly considered such a rationale, and it seems that only in this way could I accept it naturally.
Look at how still I am. “Give me your hands!”
“You put it first and hand it on to me at the weekend.”
“You keep it for yourself.”
I watched as he removed the ring from the box and placed it on my finger. When I thought about it, I felt really uneasy. I had to reach for it, but I didn’t put it on. I simply returned the ring to its box and placed it in my suitcase.
Ryan Campbell sighed softly and braced himself for the rest of the afternoon, but it didn’t have the desired impact. When she couldn’t see her joyful face, she became a little depressed.
We didn’t go home right after dinner. He took me for a walk down the river.
It was a lovely night, but I didn’t want to enjoy it. I just followed him without saying anything.
Ryan Campbell looked at me.
“What makes you so unhappy?”
I was taken aback by his unexpected question. When I looked up at him, I noticed that he was staring at me. I quickly lowered my head, stomped the sand beneath my boots, and said, “No.”
“Don’t you know? Is there something you’re hiding from me?”
