Chapter 26

Book:Billionaire's Sweet Wife Published:2024-5-1

The viewpoint of Irene Nadine
I tried not to care about this sentence, but I couldn’t help but be intrigued. After a few seconds of staring at Philip Matthews, I sipped my drink, opened the back door, and sat down.
After making contact, I discovered that Philip Matthews was not as horrible as I had imagined, and he didn’t do anything to me other than teasing.
Maybe I’m so safe because I’m Ryan Campbell’s wife?
He also did not deceive me. A few minutes later, the automobile came to a halt in front of the hospital.
Fears seem to have materialized, as I have observed Ryan Campbell’s automobile not far away.
Philip Matthews unlocked my car door, escorted me to the hospital, and escorted me all the way to the sixth floor. Look at the elevator sign; it should be the inpatient department.
When I stepped off the elevator, I felt a little defeated. Even if he was indeed with Kathy Clark, I couldn’t hold him responsible for anything. Why did they appear to be cheating?
“What are you worried about? Come along with me.” Philip Matthews grasped my arm and walked on when I got out of the elevator and stopped moving.
When he arrived at the VIP ward area, his footsteps came to a halt in a ward, the ward’s door was locked, and only a window on the door could be seen through what was going on inside.
“Look ,” he continued, looking at me.
I swallowed my saliva, walked to the door, stood on tiptoe, and gazed out the window into the ward, then froze.
Although it is the outcome of my thinking, it will make me feel uneasy in my heart.
Ryan Campbell stood beside Kathy Clark’s hospital bed, carrying boiling water and medications.
Kathy Clark smiled brightly and spoke to him. He turned away from this side. I couldn’t see his face, but I could sense the peaceful environment.
I regained my sight rapidly, like an electric charge, and my heart was temporarily blocked.
Fortunately, I don’t believe Ryan Campbell’s nice remarks on a regular basis. Maybe he said the same thing to Kathy Clark as he did to me.
“Would you like to come in and say hello?” Philip Matthews’ smile widened as he observed my reaction.
I went away without saying anything, as if I were fleeing away.
Philip Matthews grinned contentedly and followed me gently.
My cell phone rang as soon as the elevator arrived on the first floor. Unfortunately, Ryan Campbell answered the phone.
I finally answered it. I had no reason to be irritated. Everything was predetermined.
“Have you returned yet?” I was moved to tears by his sweet speech.
Stopped in the hospital corridor, sniffled, and I didn’t say anything.
“Dumb?”
I adjusted my tone and mood, doing my best to appear as if nothing had happened, and said, “I’m back.”
“What’s the deal with the noise?”
“… watching television.”
“Read more books, if you watch so many love TV dramas will easily impair my son’s IQ.”
I didn’t engage in conversation or laughter with him. I remained silent, as if I had made a firm decision to ask him, “When will you return?”
Ryan Campbell’s point of view
I was taken aback since she appeared unconcerned about my itinerary. “It is estimated that it will be later,” I told her.
There was stillness on both sides. I tried to say anything, but she cut me off on the other end of the phone. I wasn’t sure if it was a trick of the light. I had a feeling something was up with her mood.
This morning, I was rushing to finish my work. I was almost home when I received a phone call informing me that Kathy Clark had been hurt.
I had to leave since the agent was unavailable.
She groaned and walked back to the ward, looking at the phone she had just hung up on.
“Mr. Campbell, are you leaving?” Kathy Clark inquired, her face sad.
I glanced at the clock and nodded “It’s not too early. When the broker arrives, I’ll go. If there is anything further, simply contact the broker.”
“However, I’d like you to accompany me.”
“Kathy, I have a family now, and you have grown up, so you can’t be so stubborn,” I groaned.
“Are you starting to despise me?” Kathy Clark’s lost eyes said.
“No.”
Kathy Clark groaned, glanced down, and then asked, “Mr. Campbell, what if I can’t stand up anymore?”
“No, you’re resting well at the hospital. During this period, do not work.”
“I said, if I can’t stand up, will you always look after me?”
“No,” I answered, not giving her any hope.
Kathy Clark’s face became pale.
“Irene is not as kind. I came here without informing her.”
“Do you really care for her?”
“She’s my wife,” I say.
“Just because she’s your wife?” Kathy Clark dropped her head, her eyes despairing.
I didn’t say anything else to her except, “Don’t think too much, it’s time to rest, and the agent should be here soon.”
“You’ll depart as soon as I fall asleep, or I’m not going to sleep.”
“Kathy, I consider you to be my sister. Maybe some of my actions misled you in the past, but now that you’ve grown up, I’m afraid the only way I can help you in the future is with money.”
Kathy Clark sobbed and cried. She curled up in bed and wrapped herself in the quilt. I could tell she was crying, but I didn’t say anything to console her because she had to go through these things sooner or later. It’s not a nice thing to be late.
The agent arrived shortly, and I simply told him what the doctor had instructed me before leaving.
I returned home immediately. It was well after ten o’clock in the evening when I arrived home. Irene Nadine had been asked to go to bed before ten o’clock, so when I pushed open the door, the room was dark and deserted.
I took off my shoes and entered the room. I grimaced as I looked at the sloppy thin blanket on the sofa.
