Chapter 20

Book:Billionaire's Sweet Wife Published:2024-5-1

Ryan Campbell’s point of view
I went to take a bath first and changed my clothes. Anyway, she didn’t need my help, so i planned to go to the office to handle things.
“Ryan, your married life is really admiring,” Jeffrey Scott said as he strolled into the office.
“Do you have an issue?”
“Kathy Clark came to see you yesterday,” Jeffrey Scott stated as he handed him the file.
“What exactly is it?”
“She didn’t tell me, she just state she’s unable to contact you and concerned about you.”
I nodded to signify that I was aware. Instead of leaving, Jeffrey Scott inquired quietly, “Ryan, are you on two boats?”
He was then prepared to flee. When he got to the door, he continued, “I assumed you didn’t play with ladies. Ryan was faking it!”
Then he dashed out the door and fled away.
I never called Kathy Clark back, and I never contacted her after the relationship was over.
I dropped my head and focused my attention on my task, but her face suddenly appeared in my mind.
Why did I start thinking about her when we just separated?
Irene Nadine’s pov
I steps out of the shower, sit on the sofa, and turn on the television.
I watched for a while, I fell asleep and had no idea how I went asleep.
Ryan’s pov
It was well beyond two o’clock in the morning when I arrived home. I grew irritated when I pushed open the door and heard the sound of TV in the room. I couldn’t tell you how I felt as I entered the living room and saw the woman sleeping on the sofa.
She was disobedient. I simply bent down, picked her up, and returned her to her room.
She slept extremely soundly. When she was wrapped in the quilt, my gaze was drawn to her lower abdomen, and my large hands couldn’t help but touch her nightgown. It was plain, and I couldn’t tell if there was a pregnant child there.
It’s my first time as a father, and I’m excited about it. I believe ten months is excessive, and I eagerly await the baby’s arrival.
Could it be a brilliant and wicked son? Or a daughter as charming and adorable as she is?
When I remembered the picture after the baby was delivered, the corners of my mouth twitched, and I covered the quilt for her.
The viewpoint of Irene Nadine
The next day, I went back to work as usual. My child was three months old in an instant. Ryan Campbell had already scheduled an examination and drove me to the hospital early in the morning, knowing that he was also going to the hospital. I made him put on a mask before getting off the car, and I did the same.
It’s not strange that masks are worn in hospitals. If without the mask, the nurses would be startled when he stops at the hospital gate.
I recently discovered the significance of wealth. I had to wait in line for an hour or two when I came by myself, and I had to wait for the results, but not with him. Even the examination room was a VIP channel, and I was checked right away, and the results were immediately available.
The doctor said, after reviewing the examination history on the computer, “Last month, Ms. Nadine came to inspect. The circumstance…”
Ryan Campbell frowned and questioned, “When did you come?” before the doctor could finish.
“I came by myself,” I grumbled.
Ryan Campbell reasoned that he should arrange someone to keep an eye on this woman, who is too disobedient.
But it was the doctor’s next remarks that enraged him the most: “Do you still bleed?”
Ryan Campbell frowned as I shook my head. “How come you didn’t inform me?”
“Make no noise and pay attention to the doctor.” I shifted the subject because I knew he wanted to lecture me again.
The doctor smiled and exhaled deeply before saying, “The fetus is not now in danger, but its development is slightly slower than that of a typical fetus. I recommend that you take more rest and rest for the sake of your health and that of your child. It is preferable to set aside your task for the time being.”
I was terrified the doctor would say this in front of Ryan Campbell, because it meant I would lose my job, which is rare for me to get, and it would be a shame to meet such a fantastic employer.
“Quit the job later, and I’ve already instructed you not to come to work.”
I am also aware that I am in terrible health and will become exhausted if I stand for an extended period of time, but quitting my job means that I have lost my sole source of income, which will make me anxious.
He drove me straight to the convenience store and forced me to discuss resigning.
I don’t have a choice; either I say it or he says it. In either case, the end effect is that I will lose my job.
I got lost trying to find the store manager, and I told him honestly that I couldn’t work since I was pregnant. The store manager’s demeanor startled me. He answered, “I will provide you maternity leave. You can still come back and work after the child is born.”
“Really?”
The store manager responded with a smile, “Irene, you work extremely hard. How can I abandon you so easily?”
“Then after I have a baby, you must follow your pledge,”
“You are always welcome to return,” the store manager said, nodding.
“Thank you very much, boss!”
Ryan Campbell seemed pleased with my demeanor, and when I returned home, I felt a little dejected, as if I had lost my drive in life.
Ryan Campbell has planned a surprise for her because he knows she would be bored alone.
“It’s wonderful,” I said as I gingerly extended out my hand and touched the piano.
“This is for you.”
“For me?”
“It will eventually be yours. I will teach you if you don’t have anything to practice at home.”
I was at a lost in front of the piano. “I can’t play,” I muttered as I turned to face him.
“I’ll teach you by hand when I have time, but first wash your hands and come down for breakfast.”
After resigning, I have inspiration with this piano. He showed me the fundamentals of fingering. I practiced and played alone at home while he was at work.
When he returned home, we had better communication.
My learning ability is excellent, and my fingers are exceptionally flexible. I am a beginner pianist, and I can hardly perform the entire song according to the easy music score slowly.
My friendship with him has also much improved.
This life, however, lasted less than a month. That night, I received a phone call from Jeffrey Scott, who said, “Ryan, I have a task.”
“Say.”
“Because the assignment has yet to be assigned, let’s go to the headquarters right away.”
Ryan Campbell said ok, changed his clothing, and stood up.
He stopped by my door before leaving at three o’clock at night, knowing I was deep asleep at this time, but he still wanted to say goodbye before he left.
“Irene.” I wrinkled my nose and moved my head uncomfortably as I was upset. To wake me up, he reached out his hand and patted my cheek.
I sat up unexpectedly. “How come you’re in my room?”
“I need to get out and take care of myself for a time.”
He frequently goes on business travels. He normally doesn’t say anything. What was it that he came to tell me today? In the middle of the night, I was scared to death!
“What time is it now?”
Ryan Campbell smiled , patted my head, and whispered, “Go back to sleep.”
When I returned to the quilt, he dropped his head and kissed me on the cheek, saying, “Good night.”
“You fouled!” my eyes widened in terror.
He didn’t respond again, didn’t turn around, and went out of my room.
I didn’t think much and slept restlessly.
My memories of the previous night was still hazy when I awoke. I wasn’t sure if he actually departed or if it was a ruse. I got up and couldn’t find food in the microwave before confirming that he should go out.
But he didn’t welcome me the last time he was on a business trip. Why did he tell me that in the middle of the night last night?
Ryan Campbell, in my opinion, is not normal, and some unusual activities do not bother me.
I don’t attend work. Every day, I study books and educate myself cultural lessons. I like to watch TV and play the piano.
In this manner, a week passed, and all of the songs he taught me could be performed skillfully, but he still hadn’t returned.
And, strangely, his phone can’t get through this time, only once or twice. For the next two days, I called every day, but no one answered.
He’s a businessman, and the phone is as vital to him as oxygen. How can he have been unable to get through for so long?
The weird occurrence worried me, so I cleaned up in the afternoon and decided to go to his workplace to ask him directly. His assistants must be aware of his location.
I dressed comfortably for the occasion. I was laid off and didn’t want to take a taxi. I also felt like I should walk more, so I walked to his place of business and nearly got lost. To identify the appropriate path, I looked to his famed high-rise structure.
The receptionist girl recognized me. No one stopped me this time. I climbed his special ladder to the floor of his office and went straight in. Nobody could stop me. Just as an assistant reminded me, “Madam, the president is out on business. Are you on the lookout for him?”
“Do you know where he went on business?” I inquired, turning to face the assistant.
The secretary shook his head. “The special assistant is in charge of these matters. We have no idea.”
It’s not unexpected that he traveled for business. He has also gone more than a week without returning home, but this time it is really weird. He used to phone me numerous times a day to inquire about my current status. This time, there was no phone call, and when I called, I couldn’t get through. “Can you reach him?” I asked the assistant.
“Only Mr. Scott may contact the president directly,” the assistant apologized.
“Why has his phone been unable to get through?” I was curious.
“What, Madam, do you mean the president’s private phone number? The company’s special line is always open, and we don’t have the president’s personal phone number.”
For the first time, I felt as if I knew nothing about this man.
Why does he seem to vanish into thin air?
It started raining just as I was about to leave the firm. The rain wasn’t heavy, but it kept me from leaving. I stood at the threshold of his company, speechless.
Ryan Campbell, on the other hand, stood under the eaves, dazedly watching the rain.
Ryan Campbell’s pov
I’m curious if the woman went outside, if she took an umbrella, and what she ate these days.
“Do you miss your wife?” Jeffrey Scott remarked.
“I notice you’ve been chatting a lot recently.”
“You’ve never been that sad before,” Jeffrey Scott said, smiling.
“Are you still up for some nonsense?”
Jeffrey Scott became serious as well “It’s only for tonight. If you succeed, you can return to your wife and hug her.”
“Ryan, don’t worry, this negotiation will succeed with me,” Jeffrey Scott remarked as Ryan Campbell stared at him.
