SATURDAY morning..
“Just wait for me here, okay?” Chari said to Clint as she walked out of the car.
The two first went to the grocery store to buy Clyde’s favorite foods. Chari left Clint in the car and went inside the grocery store alone to do some shopping.
Once inside, she goes straight to the fruit section.
“Um.. mango, banana, and.” Chari uttered as she slowly traced the row of fruits there.
There were quite a lot of people in that section. It’s Saturday, and there are a lot of shoppers. A few more walks and..
“Aunt Chari?” The girl next to her called
Looking back and what she saw..
“Trina?” Chari frowned for a moment, then smiled right after.
“God! Is that really you? You-you don’t seem to have aged!” Trina remarked sarcastically, her arms crossed.
Chari smiled. “Oh really? Thank you! ”
A moment later, Maggie suddenly arrived, carrying some stuff. And when she saw Chari, she was like, “Ch-Chari?” She covered her mouth with her hand. She almost dropped her groceries.
“Hi Mags! God! How are you? ” Chari exclaimed loudly.
Trina just stared at Chari. Her eyebrows met, and it was obviously annoyed.
“Chari! Ahaha!” Maggie shouted as she embraced her. “Hmm… I miss that smell! So sweet! How are you?”
When Maggie mentioned, ‘ I miss that smell,’ Trina simply stuck to Chari.
“Hmn?” And she simply sniffs.
Chari seemed to be aware. “Why? You love the scent? Candy Cane!” she said with a smile.
Trina gave a quick nod. “Yeah! The scent! “The smell is familiar to me,” she said, then frowned. Chari grinned even more.
Chari seemed to be triggered by Trina’s actions.
“Does it smell familiar? Ah! Clint used to use it when he was meeting you. That’s why the smell is familiar to you, right!? Bringing back the old days? Huh? Trina?” Chari said, raising her right eyebrow followed by a witchy half smile.
Trina sighed. She has also distanced herself. It was undeniable that she was really annoyed with Chari.
“Chari! When did you arrive? God! You are still so pretty! Nothing has changed about you! ” Maggie praised.
“Maybe it’s like that when there’s no hassle, Mags! And you? How’s life now? Trina is so beautiful. She looks like an actress! How many children do you and Clint have?” Chari said. It followed her simple teasing.
A moment later, Chari’s cell phone rang. The two saw that the caller’s name was Josh.
“Wow! Husband?” Maggie immediately asked.
“Ahaha! Boyfriend!” Chari answered. ” Excuse me, do you still live there? I’ll visit once, Mags, then let’s have a drink! Haha!” Chari said, walking away from the two.
And when Chari left..
“So she’s here in Manila?” Trina said.
“See that? If I were you, I’d watch over Clint! With Chari’s looks, your husband will be even more crazy about her! See? At thirty-eight, she still looks gorgeous! Tsk! Then! You too! You didn’t even pretend to be happy when you saw her! Tsk! ” Maggie said, with her right eyebrow raised even more because she was a bit pissed at Trina.
“Where do you think she lives?” Trina frowned.
Maggie shrugged. And.. ” Hmn.. I really love that scent! The smell of that perfume from Chari’s is so sweet, it lingers!” she said.
Something seems to have entered Trina’s mind. “Yeah! That smell.. I can’t be wrong! Aunt Chari and Clint have met! They have met!” Trina exclaimed,
Maggie, who was walking away, turned around. “Hmn? They met? How did you know? ”
Trina didn’t say a word. She was breathing heavily from annoyance.
I GOT home early. I also had dinner there with Tejie and Trina. After eating, I went to the backyard to check the schedule of the mail I would send to Japan. I am also building a new promotion in Camiguin. I bought what was offered to me there. I meant to take it so that if Clyde wanted to go back to Camiguin, I would be with him. I was currently busy and focused on my laptop when Trina suddenly spoke from behind me.
“When did you sell your house in the North?” she asked.
“Huh?” I stammered, “I-it’s been a long time.” I was really surprised by what she asked. I am always really surprised by what this woman says and does.
“Since when?” she asked again, with a slightly higher voice.
“It’s been a long time! Last year! Why are you asking?” I said with raised eyebrows as a defensive move.
Trina approached. Hold me still.
“What are you doing?” I said as she clung to me.
“Why did you sell your house there, Clint? Well, it’s yours and Aunt Cha’s, isn’t it? So many good memories,” she said.
My forehead furrowed even more. “What’s that again, Trina? I’m doing something; I have no time for this! Tsk! ” I said.
She stood up. “It’s nothing! I just suddenly remembered! Tejie said you should erase your tattoo name! It’s ugly!” She said as she walked away.
I looked at the tattoo on my arm that was Mama Cha’s name.
CHARI’S POV
Great! The world is really small. We met at the grocery store, and it’s a good thing Clint didn’t go inside, or he and Trina would have met! Why did Trina react like that when she saw me? It’s obvious that she’s annoyed. She’s still irritated with me. After all, before I left here, we had an argument. She asked me where Clint and I were going when we disappeared during the day! That’s what I remember, so she was pretty bitchy before!
But I laughed at her reaction when she smelled my perfume earlier. The smell is familiar! Why not? I just poured that perfume on the nighties I left in Clint’s suitcase. Maybe that girl is overthinking things right now! But I have to admit, she’s still sexy to this day. She’s only gotten better with age.
Why? It’s like I’m jealous. I then thought, how can he and Trina stay together? Shucks! Just thinking about it makes me sick! Even if you say you don’t really love the girl when her body is so beautiful, it’ll be really hard to resist! F**k now, I’m mad! I don’t believe that Clint is not having sex with her. Trina is so sexy!
Why are you discouraged again, Chari? You know the background of the relationship between the two, so don’t be jealous. So, Clint just doesn’t want Tejie to be broken, so he’s fighting even though he really doesn’t want to! Why me? Clyde and I? What are we now? What are we to him? All right! It’s all my fault! So, face the consequences! We will go home to Camiguin when Clyde is okay. I’ll just heal him there. Now, if Clint wants to hang out with us, he just goes there.
I don’t want to keep up with him here in Manila. I can do it alone. Of course, I can still do it!
TWO DAYS later, Chari thought of leaving the house.
This long hair is really heavy on the head! What is the name of that salon? Aah.. That’s the one that was put in my coffee shop! It’s a good place to visit; maybe Jet and I will meet there. I’m not doing anything! ” She said to herself. ” She dressed up and started the car.
A FEW moments more and she arrived immediately. Her old coffee shop is not that far from where she lives. And when she saw the salon,
“Wow! It’s big!” she exclaimed.
When she entered, she was greeted by those there.
“Chari?”
“Mags?”
Maggie saw her.
“Wow! You work here? ” Chari asked.
“Yeah! I’m the manager here. What took you here?” Maggie asked.
“Ah yes! I was looking for a parlor. Our neighbor said this place is okay and I also thought about seeing what Jet had put here,” Chari answered with a smile.
“Neighbor? You mean you live near here, Chari? ” Maggie asked, surprised. “Where? At your old house? ”
“Yep! I’m there now, Mags. Care to drop by sometime? Shot a little, just like the old times, huh?” Chari said.
“Sure sure! It’s really at your old house, right, Chari? You want us there later? Is that okay? ” Maggie asked.
Chari just nodded and smiled. She also seemed to wonder if it was right that she said that they were now at their old house and that she had even managed to have a drink there. She’s a little hesitant because of that.
Maggie was looking at Chari, sitting on a massage chair while having her hair cut.
“Hello Trina? Chari is here at the salon? Do you want to have some fun? Let’s bond with your rival! Haha!” Maggie said, laughing while talking to the person on the other line.
