The sound of the notification on his phone got interrupted whatever he was going to say so he raised a finger at the blond man in front of him so he could check it.
When he opened it, a smile involuntarily made itself known on his lips and he had to bite his bottom lips to prevent himself from grinning so widely.
After staring at the screen for a good two minutes with a wide smile on his face, he decided to reply and hoped that she replies in no time.
“I too need some kind of attention here” his little giddy haze was interrupted by Aiden’s voice so he looked up at him with his eyes saying how he was feeling at the moment.
“Sorry man, I needed to answer Loveth”
Aiden took a sip from his drink and nodded then placed it back on the table before speaking.
“You would have said you wanted to be with her instead of us meeting up now… I feel like I am seeking your attention”
Dimitri looked up from his phone with pure amusement on his face before a little furrow formed on his brows.
“Why are you whining?” he asked after answering her last message and pocketing his phone so that he could give him his attention now.
“Look man, I am glad that you both are getting closer and that you are being really nice and gentle on her but you should actually define yo-” he was interrupted by the sound of notification and he rolled his eyes and threw his hands up in the air then looked away from Dimitri as he sips his drink.
When he heard another notification, he turned to look at Dimitri with a bored expression on his face but he wasn’t answering his phone.
“I am not stopping you from answering Audri, go ahead so she doesn’t wonder why you stopp-”
“That’s actually your phone with the notifications” Dimitri interrupted him and nod to his phone beside him.
Aiden’s brows furrowed as he wondered who would be calling him now when he was actually taking a break from work and just wanted to sulk because she didn’t want to respond to him.
His eyes went wide in panic as he realized it was a text message from the one person he hoped to get a text from even if it was a flash from her, he would be really satisfied.
After a moment of staring, Dimitri’s voice cuts through his dreamy haze with a question.
“You aren’t going to attend to that?”
He looked up at him and gulped then closed his eyes and put his phone down as he tried his best not to get carried away by that simple text. He had made a point from the last time they saw and made a decision to stand by his words.
Or was he being too childish about this?
He kept on wondering and didn’t listen to a single word his friend said to him for the past minutes but will just let out sighs after sighs as he wonders about his decisions.
“Are you okay man?” that one question was able to bring him out of the thinking bubble he was dweling in.
He looked at him and shook his head then looked down at his phone again before taking his gaze back to his friend.
“Yeah, I am fine” he took a sip from his wine again and then glanced at his phone before drinking all its content.
“You sure?” Dimitri had a furrow on his brows now as he assessed his friend’s features.
He looked like he was struggling but couldn’t decipher what he was struggling with since he kept looking at his phone.
“Dude, are you sure you are okay? You look like you are struggling with something but just trying to keep things in check” he asked him when he didn’t answer.
“I am good man, maybe stress” was Aiden’s reply.
“Minutes ago you didn’t sound or look like it was stress or whatever… tell me, is Nona okay?” he asked with great worry.
“Oh, Nona is perfectly okay… she remembered me when I went to visit her last” he replied with a smile.
“She might not remember me when next I go but I felt fulfilled that she could know me and even called my name… we had a moment then” he chuckled.
“You are a strong buddy,” Dimitri told him and poured himself more wine from the table.
“I know right? Stronger than you”
“Oh please” Dimitri rolled his eyes and Aiden laughed.
“So enough of me, let’s get to you… I am glad that you confided in her so much that you told her about your past” he said and he saw a little tint on Dimitri’s cheeks when he said those words.
“Yeah, I am glad I didn’t restrain myself from telling her everything and also admitting and confessing that I like her… I feel like it is more than just liking her but I want things to be slow but steady” he explained excitedly.
“I don’t think I have seen you this happy in a long time” Aiden smiled then sipped his drink.
“I know right? It feels so good that I could admit it even though annoying her could be fun” he leaned back on his chair and couldn’t help the grin that spread across his face then continued his admiration of his wife.
“She is beautiful in every aspect and has a nice choice of words” he looked up at him then smirked “Except when I say something provoking or annoying to her then she will flare up” he chuckled.
“She is cute when she is angry,” they both said at the same time.
Dimitri threw Aiden a glare while Aiden chuckled because he was already getting his friend worked p already.
“Don’t be bothered son, I know she is totally off-limits to anyone that isn’t you so you have nothing to worry about” he relaxed back and smiled at the thought that crossed his mind.
“Moreover, I have someone else keeping me on my toes already so you really don’t have to be bothered about anything,” he said.
Dimitri seems to be relaxed but the thought of Audriana and Aiden dating in the past sort of bothers him but he knows that asking Aiden would just irritate him more so he was just going to let it go… for now.
“So you found someone to put you on track?” he asked.
“Yeah, I said that” he smirked then put more wine in his cup.
Dimitri smiled and nod his head then a thought crossed his mind and he sat properly on his seat and leaned on the armchair with his brows furrowed.
“I want to ask one thing and I need you to give me a direct answer,” he said and Aiden nodded for him to go ahead.
“Are you in love with Audriana?” he asked hoping that his answer would not be contrary to what he is expecting it to be.
Aiden let out a sigh and then closed his eyes for some seconds before opening them and looking at his friend with a smile on his face.
“Yes, I do” he answered and Dimitri felt his heart skip and it wasn’t the kind that he felt when he sees Audriana and all her cuteness but a kind he never wants to imagine.
He let out a sigh and was about to say something but Aiden stopped him and continued talking.
“I used to love Audriana as more than a friend before but now I love her as my sister or let’s say I am trying to keep what I feel for her on a friendship level now that I know she loves someone who is for her and I am assured that she is in safe arms,” he told him.
He didn’t know how relieved he felt not until Aiden spoke out these words of assurance to him. Now, he wasn’t that bothered if they dated in the past now that he was sure there was no one he needed to worry about.
“Thanks, man”
“Nah, it’s fine… I want the best for my buddies and I am glad that you guys are good together” Aiden smiled.
“Now, do you want to tell me about your mystery girl?”
“Nah, will say something when the right time comes”
“Aiden…”
“Let’s leave me for now and focus on you and Caleb too first you need to do something”
“What is that?”
“You need to tell her about Daniella,” he said and he wasn’t smiling this time.
