Three police cars, a van, an ambulance, and a taxi that carried Dimitri, Aiden, and Caleb stopped right in front of a bad-looking off-white house that looked like it would collapse anytime soon.
Quickly the police came out of their respective cars and the head of them gave instructions as to where they would stand and check for her while the paramedics opened the back door as they await a call for them.
The trio came out of the taxi and Dimitri walked straight to the building with determined steps but was stopped by the officer conducting the search.
“I understand how you feel Mr. Lorenzo but you will have to stand back and let us do our job. I already told you that you couldn’t come but you were stubborn to listen and still came. Just stand back and we will check everywhere to look for her.”
Dimitri threw him a hard glare and sized him up then ignored his talk and began to walk past him when the officer pushed him back as he was already losing his patience with him.
“I will not ask you a second-time sir, back off” he spoke coldly with a glare and Dimitri matched his glare.
“I will go in there and bring my wife out,” he said to the officer and surprisingly he sounded calm.
Aiden already sensing some kind of stiff angry air, walked over to them and looked from the officer who goes by the name Ramon to Dimitri then back to Ramon.
“Er… guys, now isn’t the time for this. We need to get Audri and you can fix whatever cr-” he was cut short by the sound of something loud.
Everyone tensed and they all looked at each other.
“What wa -”
“Gunshot!” Dimitri cuts him off and didn’t think twice when he dashed into the building by climbing the small steps that take you to the front door.
“Stop right there, you need cover” Ramon rushed to him but stopped when the gunshot sounded near, so he had to tell everyone that was outside to take cover and prevent themselves from getting shot.
When Dimitri entered the hallway, a wild disgusting stench filled his nostrils which made his face scrunch up in disgust. Trying not to let the smell irritate him further and ignoring the shooting that had started minutes ago, he moved further into the hallway as he looked side by side.
There were some doors that he had tried to open but it wouldn’t budge, so he would go to the next and do the same till he came to one faded brown-looking door.
He tried to open it but couldn’t and was about to move further but didn’t know why he felt he needed to open this particular door.
The stench filled his nostrils when he breathe in. It was stomach-turning and gut-irritating so he spat on the floor, moved back by some steps, and was about to charge for the door when he heard a noise by his right which made him halt in his charging.
He looked at the door he was about to break down and looked to his right then back at the door and decided to take down the door before going to check what that noise was.
He moved back a bit again and kicked it twice before it opened to reveal a slightly lit room.
He got inside and squinted his eyes so they could adjust to the dimly lit room and saw someone right in front of him sitting on a chair.
He didn’t have the chance to take in what the room looked like and felt his heart rate sped up at the thought of who that would be. Slowly he moved closer to the person to see that the person’s head was bent to the side with golden hair over their face.
“Loveth” he whispered and felt his knees go weak making him fall to the ground when he saw the sight in front of him.
He managed to crawl to her and held her face in his hands as he turns her limp head from side to side.
She had a ghost look, there was dried blood at the side of her mouth and her eyes were covered with a black cloth. A gasp erupted from his mouth as he wondered what else they had done to her.
Quickly and shakily, he untied the ropes on her ankles, hands, and body before taking her in his arms to check her out.
“Loveth, please tell me you are doing fine? Please” he cried and rocked her then checked her face, arms, and legs again.
He brought his ear closer to her nose to check if she was breathing and couldn’t feel her breath brush his ears, then he put one of his fingers under her nose and felt slight air breathing out of her nose.
“Baby stay with me, we will get you out of he-” he was cut short by a movement he noticed by the corner of his eyes.
He saw it earlier but that was not his main focus. He wanted to go and check what was that but she coughed and he turned to look at Audriana to see her coughing dryly and opening her eyes gradually.
“Oh my GOD, you are awake. Thank GOD Audriana, thank GOD” he sobbed as he hugged her, and just then the police and medical team came in.
The police did their job in searching around the room they were in and even going outside, while the medical team took care of Audriana, giving her the first aid treatment before taking her for thorough treatment.
“She needs water, she is parched,” Dimitri said to the attending paramedics and he nodded to him then instructed one of his nurses to bring her a bottle of water as they strapped her in the stretcher.
Aiden and Caleb came in and were terrified by the sight they saw. They gave way when the paramedics were pushing the stretcher out of the room while Dimitri walked out with them.
Just as they left the room, Dimitri, turned to them to ask if they were okay, they said they were fine but couldn’t get the person that was shooting at them so he explained to them what he heard before finding her.
“We will inform the chief and talk later, you need to go with her. She needs you” Caleb said and he nods at them both before running off to them with wobbly legs.
He just couldn’t believe the situation he found her in and it scared him what would have happened to her if they didn’t get that text to this address on time and hadn’t come now.
Shaking his head to get those thoughts out, he entered the back of the ambulance with them and held her hand in his.
She was had gained some color on her beautiful face and was slightly unconscious but he didn’t miss the small smile that managed to form on her lips and the small squeeze she gave to his hand.
At least he had an assurance that she was okay.
