Chapter 88 A Memory

Book:The Billionaire Prick Published:2024-5-1

It was around ten on a Monday morning and laying on the bed with his chest facing the surface of the bed, blankets covering mid-torso to the rest of his body and one of his legs dangling from the bed is a brown curly-haired man.
His full well-shaped lips were slightly ajar, light snores erupts from his nose, and would snort in between the hours he slept.
The bright light from the beautiful morning illuminates the room as the cool morning breeze swept the white curtains since he had forgotten to close the windows the previous night… again.
The ringing of his phone prompted him to get up in a flash and almost falling off the bed.
He stayed in the position of a gym buddy trying out push-ups with his eyes constantly blinking as if he was trying to define his meaning and purpose in life.
He blinked some more and sleepily looked around the room before his eyes went to the bedside table to see his phone ringing.
A grunt left his lips and he went back to laying in his previous position and hoping his phone stops ringing there and it did stop.
Thank GOD!
He praised GOD inwardly and wanted to get back to sleeping but that was short-lived as the ringing continued.
“What the heck?” he muttered into the pillow and turned to lay on his back but that was not possible as well since he was pushed by what or who was on the bed till he half fell on the floor.
He knelt on the floor to look at the woman who was throwing a glare in his direction with a pout and her blond hair out of place from sleeping like she has no other time to sleep aside from the ones she just had.
A smile found its way to his lips and he crawled on the bed to hug her but she pushed his hand away and pointed to his ringing phone.
“Pick it up already. It is giving me some sort of headache” she told him and turned her back to him then covered her fully clothed self with the blankets.
His smile broadened and he sat upon the bed the ran his palms on his face before picking up the phone and answering without looking at the caller ID.
“What?” he asked whoever was at the other end of the phone.
“What took you so long to pick up your calls?” the man on the other end asked.
He knew who it was already and sighed then looked at the petite woman whose back was still turned to him then leaned back to the headboard with his eyes closed and another sigh escaping him.
“Why aren’t you speaking dude? You made me call you like I was an ex trying to convince you to take me back”
“What is wrong? Is everything fine at home?” he asked and the man on the other side became quiet.
“Dimitri? What is wrong? Is everything okay at home? Mum? Dad? Are they go-”
“They are fine Cade, everyone and everything back here is fine… I called because…” Dimitri who was on the other side paused then let out a sigh.
“When are you coming home, Cade?”
“Not now?”
“Then when?” he asked.
Cade let out a sigh for the nth time, looked at the woman again, and stood up from the bed to go inside his walk-in closet.
“Dimitri…”
“Cade, I miss you like really, really miss you. I just wished you never left and just stayed here instead of going exploring like you said you wanted to go” Dimitri’s voice broke as he said those words.
“Dimitri, I wish it was that easy to explain things but I can’t come now” he sighed again and looked up at the ceiling trying not to let the tears fall.
“Mum misses you too. She hasn’t been able to stop thinking about when you will grace us with your appearance”
“Tell mum I love her and I will be coming in soon,” he told him.
“Do you mind giving a date big man?”
“Cant little brother. Please stay put and don’t make me fly over there to make you stay put, okay? Be good for mum and dad. Tell dad I said Hi too, I will talk to you later” he said and hung the phone before Dimitri could say any other thing.
‘That is what you will always look like to them and nothing more’
Memories of what she told him flooded his head and he closed his eyes to keep the tears that brimmed his eyes from falling.
He sat there on the stool and ran his finger through his shoulder-length brown curls then covered his face with his palm and shook his head to keep those words away from his mind and out of his head.
“You know going home to explain things and demanding an explanation wouldn’t hurt one bit,” a voice said which prompted him to open his eyes and look in the direction it came from which was the door of the closet.
There she stood, leaning on the door frame with her hair already packed in a messy bun and was wearing the bathroom slippers she found on the floor close to the bathroom door.
“Michelle” he whispered and held one of his hands to her so she come to him, which she did.
When she was at his arms reach, he pulled her closer to himself by her waist and put her on his lap before burying his face in the crook of her neck and inhaling her scent for comfort.
She ran her fingers through his soft curls she kept falling in love with over and over again and placed a kiss on his hair then continued, shortly after she felt wetness on her neck and knew it was two things.
Either he had fallen asleep and was drooling on her or he was crying.
“Seriously Cade, you better not be drooling on my neck or I will pinch you harder this time”
A chuckle erupted from him and he raised his head to reveal his tear-stained face and a grin on his lips.
Seeing him when he is at his weakness and when he is vulnerable makes her weak and vulnerable too but she knew this was one of his weak times and she needed to be strong for him and comfort him so he feels safe and know that he has a shoulder to cry on every day of his life.
Tears brimmed her eyes too and she let out a short laugh-cry and caressed his cheeks and hair then leaned in to kiss his forehead and hugged his head while his arms went firmly around her small frame.
“It will all pass, all of it Cade. It will be over soon and you will realize how strong you were to have held on and not let it break you” she told him and leaned away from the hug to see the tears continuously running down his cheeks.
She wiped every tear that fell and smiled to which he reciprocated.
“Everything will be good babe” she assured him and he laughed then held her back with one hand and let the other go under her knees before standing up to leave the closet.
“I want you to get ready, I am taking you to somewhere special,” he told her and she giggled.
