“Do you have everything?”
Silvan was standing at the door of the treatment room with my black backpack and looked at me questioningly. I took a deep breath and took one last look around this sterile room, and although I’d only been here for two weeks, looking back it felt much longer.
I remembered the evenings when I lay in Silvan’s arms and he calmly read poems from his books to me. Reminded me of the delicious food that he brought me every day and also of the loving caresses he gave me, which always made me fall asleep with a wonderful, secure feeling.
But I also remembered him telling me about Nathan’s funeral and how his mother and Viola had disappeared without a trace. Of course I felt absolutely helpless at the thought that Viola could come around any corner at any time, but I felt safe around Silvan and I just had to live with it.
All the more I enjoyed every new minute that dawned and didn’t want to waste any more time worrying about trivial things. I just wanted to live because I had experienced firsthand how quickly it could be over.
“Yes, I have everything,” I then turned to him with a smile and looked at his black suit, which made him look so absolutely sexy that I immediately had to bite my lower lip nervously.
But then my eyes quickly became more serious again, because no matter how difficult it was for him, he had to take on his father’s duties, which this suit made all too clear.
But there was one good thing about this whole terrible situation afterwards.
Finally there were no more guards at the bridge and finally we were all one big pack again.
No more division, no exclusion and no more bans, since Silvan finally had sole power over everything.
Then, as I unconsciously bit my lip again while still staring at him, his dirty laugh snapped me out of my thoughts and I blushed instantly as his sparkling eyes claimed mine.
“You still have to wait until we’re home,” he winked seductively and took my hand in his to leave this practice together with me, while the butterflies made themselves felt again, which only he could trigger in me.
I was just infinitely grateful to the moon goddess.
When I got outside, I stopped for a moment, closed my eyes with a satisfied smile on my lips and took a deep breath. The sun tickled my face slightly as I took in the so cold air and opened my lids again to look at the snow covering everything around us in a white layer.
“Beautiful, isn’t it?” came from Silvan, whom I immediately nodded at and then laid my head on his arm. I would have liked to stay here with him longer, but of course someone had to interrupt us again at such a great moment.
“Hoo you two!”
Melania came towards us more radiant than ever and waved some flyers in her hand.
I could puke in the triangle!
Even now, with the snow almost knee high, she was wearing a dress that was way too short, which made me roll my eyes at the thought that Silvan could see it too.
I was about to sigh annoyed at her appearance when she grabbed me tightly in her arms and squeezed so hard that all the air went out of my lungs and I looked wide-eyed at Silvan, who seemed just as confused about her reaction as I did.
“I’m so glad you’re feeling better,” she said with a smile and broke away from me to look at me for a long time.
Had she fallen on her head???
“Oh yeah?” I asked hesitantly and didn’t know how to deal with her at the moment. Usually she was so nasty and mean, but my feeling told me that, for whatever reason, she had changed and as I knew only too well, I could really rely on these intuitions, which was still kind of absurd.
“Yes, of course,” she said and seemed a bit nervous, which didn’t suit her any more than her exaggerated friendliness. “I’ve never really thought about this whole mate thing and didn’t want to see that you decided against me,” she explained somehow ashamed, looking up at Silvan. “But now I know what it’s like.”
I glanced at Silvan, but he just shrugged his shoulders unknowingly.
“Well, whatever,” she said and handed us each a flyer. “We postponed the winter ball for three weeks so that you are completely healthy again. I have to go again then. See you.”
She disappeared and I looked after her completely overwhelmed before I turned to Silvan with a frown… “Did you threaten her with anything? With a gun or something?” I asked and he immediately shook his head and looked at me confused.
“I haven’t seen her since that evening in the bistro. I’m certainly not responsible for that.”
After we had recovered from the shock after a while, we then walked on in silence through the snow and while Silvan courteously held the door of the car open for me, I looked at the light blue flayer in my hand and then got into the car to dream away to paint what kind of dress I wanted to buy.
It was good to think about something other than death during the entire drive home and I was really looking forward to the ball, although I actually disliked such events, but my life had changed in one fell swoop.
Where before I thought I still had enough time to try out new things, under extreme strokes of fate I realized that it wasn’t the case.
I would buy myself the most beautiful dress, I thought and then turned my head to Silvan, who immediately looked back at me while he had one hand on the steering wheel and the other on my thigh…
“Welcome home, little one,” he whispered, smiling, and I would have liked to pounce on him, driven by feelings of happiness…
But I had a plan… Again!
****
Nothing had changed at all in the house during my absence, except that Silvan had placed a small Christmas tree next to the stairs. A really nice gesture, but I really wanted to do the decorating myself.
“I have to go back to the office,” he then informed me while he placed my backpack on the kitchen island and eyed me with concern.
“Can’t you use the room upstairs as an office?” I immediately turned to him, but he just smiled and came towards me to put his hands on my waist.
“In the future yes, but not today,” he whispered and started caressing my neck. I let my head fall back, groaned longingly and was about to wrap my arms around his neck when, to my disappointment, he broke away from me again.
“See you tonight,” he grinned and then left the house while I just stood there, completely overcome with emotion.
ass !
As soon as I heard the car start, I made my way up to the bedroom and grabbed my bag, which contained my wallet. I was planning to go buy some clothes. Something that you only wore in front of your partner and even if it still felt embarrassing to me inside, I just wanted to go through with it without too much doubt.
Just the thought of how he would look at me made my blood rush through my veins and I hoped to be able to take some of his worries away, if only for one night.
I padded hurriedly down the stairs, ran to the front door and pulled on my sneakers, only to get the shock of my life when I yanked open the front door.
Bene stood right in front of me together with Miguel and I clutched my heart and then looked at them angrily.
“My God! Do you have to frighten someone like that!” I said, still gasping for breath, but when Bene looked at me apologetically, my expression softened again.
“Sorry. We were just about to ring the bell,” he said and looked over at Miguel, who just nodded when he said it.
Silvan had told me that Bene was looking for Miguel in the forest and had brought him here, but seeing the two in front of me now made the whole thing really real.
They just looked so cute together and with Miguel’s presence, that pain in Bene’s eyes that he always carried with him went away… I was really happy for him.
“You should take care of me, right?” I smiled knowingly and pulled the door shut behind me. “I’ve got something to do though… private stuff,” I explained, blushing bright red at the thought that I was on my way to some lingerie shopping.
“We’ll accompany you a bit and then wait for you at the fountain,” Bene interjected and his look revealed that he wasn’t looking to negotiate with me, so I nodded obediently and walked into town with them.
I looked at the snow, sinking into memories of the last few weeks and it was Bene, who fortunately kept distracting me by babbling some stuff…
“You’ve recovered well.”
He looked at me from the side with a smile and I immediately pushed him lightly with my shoulder.
“Good genes. You know that. But a scar will always remind me of it anyway,” I replied and my own statement pushed my mood down again.
Arrived at the fountain, he kept his word and sat down with Miguel on one of the free benches, so that I now had a free ride.
I looked around curiously and then discovered several small shops for women’s clothing, one of which I entered directly.
The large room was bright and all the walls were covered with beautiful jackets that I would have loved to buy myself, but that’s not why I was there.
Getting more and more nervous, I walked through the store and in the last corner I finally found what I was looking for.
Lingerie, underwear and all really nice stuff. I used to call them cheap, now I know better.
“Can I help you?”
The male voice behind me made me freeze for a moment, but then I turned around hesitantly and looked at a slightly older, fat gentleman with glasses.
“No, no,” I immediately shook my head and hurriedly turned back to quickly grab anything my size.
Great Jade! You stand up to an alpha, you almost get stabbed, but then you want to fail when it comes to buying lingerie? Not with me!
I confidently raised my chin in the air, ran to the small counter and slammed everything in the gentleman’s face, of course without looking him in the eye. That would have been overkill.
He told me the price, I paid and I quickly grabbed the bag and almost ran out of the store to get back to the fountain as fast as my feet would take me.
“Oh, what nice things did you buy?” Bene then wanted to know and got up from the bench to look at me questioningly, but I certainly wouldn’t tell him the truth.
I had already had experience in lying, so let’s go.
“Socks! Lots of socks!” I shot out like a gun and he really seemed to believe me. Not a second later we made our way back to the house.”Do you have everything?”
