Daphne’s point of view.
(EVERGREEN PACK)
“Welcome to my humble abode, beautiful” Donavon said as he opened the door to his home, revealing a very beautiful living room and leaving my mouth hanging in awe.
He nodded with a smile.
I pushed him out of my way and rushed in, I twirled as I stared around in admiration -the leather chairs and cushions, gigantic chandelier light, the figurines and paintings hanging on the walls -it’s as if I just stepped into a paradise.
Is this guy just being modest? Or he doesn’t know the meaning of the word ‘humble’?
The living room is small but it’s still bigger than our whole house, it’s just portable and exactly my dream house.
“You call this humble abode?” I asked with a raised brow.
“Yeah” he answered and threw his keys on the table. “I’ll be staying here temporarily, until my internship is over”
“Oh”
“Have a seat” he gestured at a chair. “I’ll get you something to drink, what do you wanna drink?” he asked me with a smile as he dropped my purse on the table.
“You’re treating me like a guest right now, you know that right?”
He laughed and slumped on the space next to me, he pushed some strands of hair behind my ear.
“My bad” he leaned forward and kissed my forehead. “This is our home here in Evergreen pack, we’ll both be staying here until my internship is over, so…” he threw his hands in the air. “… you can do whatever you please, this is your home!” he said.
I laughed lightly at his expression.
“Good” i said.
I reached for his hand and pulled him up as I got up too, then headed towards the kitchen to make some breakfast, because we didn’t have breakfast before coming here -we came directly from the infirmary.
“Right, did you rent this house? Or you bought?” I asked as we approached the kitchen.
“I rented it, but currently working on buying it soon”
My eyebrows furrowed instantly at his words, I halted and turned to face him.
“Why do you wanna buy it?”
He shrugged his shoulders, then pulled me closer and hugged me from behind, with his chin resting on my shoulder.
Right, our relationship has increased greatly during the lockdown, besides, we aren’t like those mates who’re so awkward with each other when they just found each other.
“Actually, it wasn’t my intention, or should I say I didn’t see any reasons for buying it before, because I didn’t know my mate would be from this pack”
“Hm?”
“But now that I know my mate’s from this pack, I think I should just buy it and gift it to her” he said.
I sighed and rolled my eyeballs, then briefly glanced around again -everything here must be d@mn expensive.
“Don’t buy it” I told him.
“Why?”
“Because it’s not necessary, it’s just gonna be a waste of money since we’ll both be going back to your pack sooner or later”
“Hmm” he hummed as he thought of words to say. “We can just stay here instead, after all I’m not next in line for the Alpha position -I can settle down with my mate wherever I want” he kissed my neck after saying that and I giggled.
That’s one thing I’m grateful for, he’s not gonna be the Alpha of his pack which means he’s gonna have enough time for us -he and I.
“How about you move in with me?” he asked.
Move in with him? Does he think he can get me to move in with him so easily because we’re mates?
I scoffed mentally and elbowed his stomach, he quickly let go of me and held his stomach as he groaned dramatically.
“Beautiful, that hurts” he whined.
“Yeah” I stomped on his foot and he jumped away from me. “I’m not moving in with you”
He frowned in confusion.
“Why?”
“You’ll first seek for my parents’ permission or else, I’ll continue going to and fro between your house and my parents’ home” then I dashed towards the kitchen.
“Hey, beautiful, we’re werewolves and we’ve automatically gotten our parents approval once we’ve found our mate” he said as he followed me.
I snapped my head towards him and glared harshly at him.
“That only happens in your Blood-moon pack, here in evergreen pack, we seek our parents approval before moving in with our mate”
My eyes search for the fridge, it only took me few seconds to locate it and I quickly approached it, I opened it and brought out some frozen pizza.
Donavon’s arms snaked my waist as I was pulling out a bottle of milk, but I ignored him and carried on with my stuff.
“Fine” he bite my ear softly which sent shivers down my spine. “I’ll visit mom and dad tomorrow and plea with them to let you move in with me, ok?”
I sighed.
“Good luck with that”
He grumbled childishly in my ear.
“At last give me some sorta assurance, beautiful” he said.
I don’t know what happened to me or what possessed my body, but a crazy idea crossed my mind and I smirked.
I turned in his arms and planted a kiss on his lips, his eyes widened but I could see they’re smiling, after all, this is our first kiss and I initiated it.
“Is that enough assurance?” I asked after breaking the kiss.
He stared dumbly at me for a moment, his eyes were blinking as if he’s trying to figure out what just happened… or maybe he couldn’t believe I just kissed him.
“Hey, Donavon” I snapped my fingers across his eyes and he blinked back to reality. “I-I just kissed you, is that enough assurance?” I repeated my question, stuttering slightly.
His eyes moved from my eyes to my lips and he shook his head in disagreement.
“No”
“No?”
“That’s far from enough”
That being said, his left arm went around my waist again and his right hand held my head in position, then he crashed his lips on mine.
