Third person’s point of view.
(In a cave outside evergreen pack)
Drake sat on a stool as he impatiently looked at his wrist watch, he pushed his hair back and wiped his face -he narrowed his eyes and glared at the entrance.
He sprang up immediately he saw a masked man come in, he rushed towards the masked man and seized him by his collar.
“Where are bloody you coming from?” He questioned the masked man.
The masked man flicked his finger and his collars slipped off Drake’s grip.
“I went to make an alliance” he answered and headed towards a small fridge in a corner -it’s a cave but it’s strangely as big as a house.
“Alliance for what? What are planning to do?” Drake asked again.
“What I’m planning to do has nothing to do with you, just be a good son and follow the plan” he walked back to Drake and tapped his shoulder.
Drake shrugged his hand off.
“It has everything to do with me because I know it involves my Ara….”
“Your Ara?” he interrupted Drake mockingly.
“Yes, you promised you wouldn’t hurt her” Drake narrowed his eyes again. “Are you going back on your words?”
The masked man handed a bottle of chilled water to Drake, he gestured at Drake to have a drink.
“Of course, I won’t hurt her” he chuckled lightly. “But you should also try to see the bigger picture, I will do anything to bring that b@stard to nothing and that includes…. your Ara” he said the last part in a mocking tone.
“This wasn’t our agreement, you said I’ll have everything if I followed you two years ago -why does it seem like I’m getting the exact opposite of what you promised?”
“Hey, I said I’ll help you get her and I’ll do just that” there’s a brief pause. “But I can’t do that without allies, that’s why I went out to make some”
“But… ”
“Calm down, son” he said. “Just sit back and watch the drama unfold… you’ll hold your Ara in your arms soon”
Drake narrowed his eyes even more and balled his fists by his sides, he clenched his jaw.
“Just so you know, I won’t let you hurt her!” he gritted out and stormed off.
The masked man stared at his back and shook his head.
“Impatience!” he said.
★★★★★
Arabella’s point of view.
“Thank you for preparing lunch, your Majesty” mom thanked Wymond.
I nodded both in appreciation and satisfaction as I let my eyes roam the table, there are enough food to feed almost everyone in our street.
I wondered how long Wymond spent in the kitchen, and how did he managed to make all these by himself, or did Edward helped him before I came back from school?.
He leaned closer to my ear.
“I cooked everything alone, I didn’t ask for help -are you proud of me?” he whispered to me.
I nodded. “You outdid yourself” I whispered back to him.
He smiled.
“Anything for my baby” his words made my stomach churn in excitement and I blushed.
Mom cleared her throat to get our attention and we quickly turned to face her, she picked her spoon and gave me a teasing look which made me frown but blush harder.
“I didn’t know I’d one day sit on the same table with the King, talk more or less of eating a food personally cooked by him, it’s such a honor” she said.
Edward laughed.
“Yeah, me too” he supported mom. “Though, I do sit with his Majesty on the same table but I never had an opportunity to taste his cooking yet, this is truly a great honor” he added.
I rolled my eyeballs.
“Mom, he’s your son-in-law now, it’s what he should do” I said.
Arthur scoffed at my words which earned him a smack from mom, but he didn’t seem like he cared.
“I’m starving, can we eat now?” he asked as he eyed the fried chicken.
“All he knows is food” I murmured but he heard me and stuck out his tongue at me.
Wymond cleared his throat and we turned our heads towards him, he scratched his neck nervously and I realized his ears were slowly turning red.
What is wrong with him? Why does it seem as if he’s nervous?
“Are you ok?” I asked him quietly.
He nodded and his ears grew redder, even his neck was also starting to grow red.
“Er… this is gonna sound weird, but I guess it’s something I must do now -to show my respect and sincerity towards you” he said, directing his words to mom.
“Oh” mom smiled. “Ok” she said and waited for him to continue.
I looked at Edward and raised my left eyebrow questioningly at him, but he shrugged his shoulders and shook his head, there’s even a confused frown on his forehead.
We all looked at him expectantly, but he kept moving his Adam’s apple as he was gulping -nervously?.
Is there something he’s finding difficult to say?
“Your… Majesty?” Edward called him, to remind him we’re waiting for him to speak up.
He closed his eyes, turned to face mom and inhaled deeply as he balled his fist on the table -his mouth kept moving but no words came out.
“Wymond, are you….”
“Mom” he blurted out quickly and snapped his eyes open.
“Mom?!” We all exclaimed at once after him.
Mom and I exchanged surprised and confused looks, I guess she’s wondering why Wymond would decide to call her mom so suddenly.
I turned to face him.
What is he doing? Mom? He’s calling my mom, mom?.
“Yo.. your Majesty, I….” Mom trailed off not knowing what to say.
Wymond’s eyes glanced around as he studied our surprised faces, he gulped loudly.
“Er… I… my… I… mother-in-law, so…” he cut himself off.
He bowed his head and looked down on his lap like a lost puppy, he withdrew his hands from the table and placed them on his laps, then started playing with his fingers -he must be feeling embarrassed right now.
Besides, he’s always being an arrogant and proud King, hearing him addressing his mother-in-law as mom isn’t something anyone would expect or imagine. At least, I won’t imagine it.
It’s time to save my mate, I cleared my throat quietly and laughed lightly.
“Mom, why are you acting so surprised?” I asked.
“His Majesty, he…”
“Ah” I waved her thought off. “You’re his mother-in-law and it’s only right if he calls you mom” I said.
I reached for his hand on the table and gave him an encouraging squeeze, then smiled at him approvingly -i’m feeling kinda proud of him and I really don’t understand why.
“Calling you mom means he acknowledges you as his mother-in-law and he’s according you that respect” I leaned closer to him and kissed his cheek. “My mate is showing his respect and you should accept it”
Wymond nodded at my words.
“But isn’t he older than me?” Mom asked.
I was right, that’s her concern -Wymond’s age.
“Mom, are you trying to say I’m mated to my great, great, great, great grandfather’s age?” I asked, making it sound as if I’m offended.
“No, no, that’s not what I meant, it’s just.. it doesn’t seem right, he…” Mom trailed off.
“Wymond stopped aging long ago, he’s still…” I trailed off and looked at him, hoping he’d get what I mean.
“I stopped aging at 29” he completed my unfinished words.
“So… you’re practically way older than him” I explained.
Mom thought about it for a moment, then broke into a smile and nodded.
“It’s very logical when you put it that way, you’re right” she said.
I glanced at Wymond, I realized he’s no longer looking gloomy, I leaned back on my chair and puffed out some air as I sighed in relief.
“Son, here’s a toast to you” mom said and clicked her glass with Wymond’s.
They drank their wine and started chatting like normal people or should I say family -anyway, they were discussing.
Arthur and I were so bored because our minds and souls were already on the food, Arthur pouted his lips and gestured me to say something.
I tapped the table gently to get everyone’s attention, they stopped laughing and faced me.
“Can we eat now?” I asked.
“Oh, yes, yes, let’s eat” mom said, she looked at Arthur’s face. “My handsome son is starving” she added and put some food on Arthur’s plate.
I scoffed jealously.
“Mummy’s boy” I spat out, not even trying to hide my jealousy.
Arthur blew raspberry at me, I frowned and threw a ham at him which he caught and shove in his mouth.
“Baby, here” Wymond said and put some grilled pork on my plate. “I’m here to take care of you, eat”
“Thank you, my handsome mate” I thanked him but he blushed instead of replying.
I turned to Arthur and scoffed at him, before turning back to my food.
