Arabella’s point of view.
We tailed Wymond from a safe distance for a few minutes, until he stopped near a small lake, we ducked and quickly hide behind a tall bush when he suddenly turned around.
He looked around cautiously as if he felt our presence, his eyes zeroed on the bush we were using as our shield and furrowed his eyebrows.
My heart started beating fast in fear as he took slow steps towards the bush, I grabbed Edward’s arm and pinched him very hard -I didn’t even realized I was pinching him.
“Do you think he knows we were tailing him? What’s gonna happen if we get caught?” I whispered in a very low but panicked voice.
Edward quickly slammed his hand over my mouth, he made us duck even lower and shook his head at me, then made me read his lips.
“His Majesty’s super hearing is far more clearer than ours, his ears can pick up sounds from a thousand miles” he mouthed at me.
“Oh” I mouthed back as I quickly nodded in understanding.
My ears perked up at the sound of Wymond stepping on a twig, we turned our attention back to him and realized he’s no longer walking towards us.
He glared at the bush for a very brief moment, before walking closer to the small lake.
He raised his hands and chanted a few incantations coherently, I tried very hard to listen to the words he was saying but even with my super hearing, I still couldn’t picked out any meaningful word.
What is he now? Is he a wizard too? I wondered inwardly.
I flinched back and fell on my butts when he flicked his fingers and the water suddenly shot up, it formed a big circle in the middle of the lake.
The circle is big and wide enough for someone to walk through, I smiled widely as I stared at it admirably -I felt a strong urge to clap in appreciation, but I somehow managed to contain myself.
“Wow” I exclaimed quietly and turned to Edward. “Is he a wizard? How did he managed to do that?” I asked.
Edward placed a finger on his lips, but nodded.
“Yeah, he’s a wizard but doesn’t indulge too much in witchcrafts” he said.
I turned my gaze back to Wymond and nodded in appreciation.
*Our mate is awesome* Amy said dreamily.
*Yeah* I couldn’t help but agreed with her.
I sighed softly.
“There are a lot of things I need to know about him”
“Yeah, you’ll know more about him with time” he replied. “He’ll tell you everything when he thinks it’s time”
Wymond took off his shoes and walked through the circle, I faced Edward with a frown.
“What is he doing?” I asked nodding at Wymond’s shoes.
“He’s opened and entered the portal” he answered.
My frown deepened as his words sounded kinda confusing to me, I tilted my head.
“What portal?” I asked him again.
“The portal to the seer’s lair” he said. “Right, here’s an heads-up, we aren’t entering the seer’s lair with His Majesty”
I raised my eyebrows questioningly.
“Then why are we going there?”
“To eavesdrop….”
“Eavesdrop?!” I exclaimed before he could finish his words.
He slammed his hand over my mouth again, shushed me and frowned at me.
“Yes, it’s the only way you can get a little clue of why His Majesty is being cold towards you”
He paused and removed his hand from my mouth.
“His Majesty will tell you the whole story when he’s warm up to you later, but that’s gonna be after you’ve made enough efforts”
“So you mean even if we go in there, I still won’t know about his curse or why he doesn’t want anything to do with love?”
“Pretty much, but half bread is better than none, don’t you think?”
I sighed softly and nodded, he straightened up and stepped out of hiding, then signaled me to follow him.
“Let’s hurry before the portal closes” he said as he ran towards the circle.
I also ran after him without wasting time, we took off our shoes just as Wymond had done earlier.
Edward stared at me, silently asking if I’m ready and I nodded. He took a deep breath, balled his fist and closed his eyes before jumping in.
I looked behind as if I was expecting someone else to enter before me, seeing as I’m the only one remaining, I quickly jumped in.
It’s pitch black inside, like the dead of the night and I couldn’t see anything.
I reached for my phone in my pocket and tried to turn it on, but it wasn’t working -wasn’t it fully charged before we embarked on this journey? Why can’t I turn it on now?.
An unknown fear gripped me when a cold and eerie breeze blew past me, I shoved my phone back in my pocket and hugged myself.
Suddenly I started hearing agonizing cries of people being tormented, they were desperately calling for help even when it seems like there isn’t any hope for them.
I looked around for Edward, but I couldn’t find him since it’s too dark, I reached out my hands and waved them around wether I can touch him but it’s an epic fail.
My shoulders tensed and my eyes grew extremely wide, my eyeballs were almost falling out as I felt something cold climbing my legs quickly and entangled my waist.
What on earth is this? Am I gonna die here? What’s gonna happen to my body if I die? Will some kind of beast come and eat me up?.
Oh, no, I’m too beautiful to die in a wretched place like this! -I cried mentally.
“Ara” I heard Edward’s voice quietly calling me, but I was too scared to answer or even move.
I mean, what if it isn’t Edward? What on earth have I gotten myself into?.
A frightened shriek escaped my mouth when I felt someone grab my hand, but the person quickly slammed his or her hand over my mouth.
“Don’t scream, it’s me”
“Edward?” I muffled out.
“Yes”
He removed his hand from my mouth, but was still holding my hand.
“Don’t be scared” he said.
“Don’t be scared? Some unidentified things are wrapping my body right now and you said I shouldn’t be scared?” I whisper-yelled.
“It must be the seer’s pythons… ”
“Pythons?!” I couldn’t hold back my scream, but Edward was very fast in covering my mouth.
“Yes, pythons, but fret” he paused. “They’re just checking if you’re having ulterior motives for coming here” he explained.
“Really?”
“Yeah, but we can go back if you’re scared”
“No, no” I shook my head quickly. “Let’s continue, we’re already here” I told him.
He sighed deeply, I can even imagine him shaking his head right now, because I can’t see him.
“Who would have thought the fearless and brave Ara would be scared of tiny pythons?” he sighed dramatically this time.
I slapped his shoulder lightly.
“Shut up and let’s catch up with Wymond”
“Right, right”
