The king’s screaming had woken Banshee up from her sleep and when she turned to look at him lying beside her while screaming in his sleep.
She examined his body and saw the whip marks, she knew that no one else but Arthur was responsible.
Arthur had done the exact thing to her in the past and now he had come for the king, probably because he sent people after Mia. The only way for her to wake him up was through pain.
She immediately got up from the bed and wrapped a towel around her chest and heated a knife and made contact with his skin.
“Ahh” he jerked up from his nap and almost sprang up from the bed like some kind of kangaroo that had lost its senses.
“Are you okay?” She carefully sat next to him, applying some kind of paste on his hands and legs, especially on the part that he had just placed the heated knife on.
The king was in utter shock as he observed his surroundings and looked at his burnt and reddish skin.
“Shhh!!… don’t say anything, you know who is responsible. This is what I have been trying to warn you about. He had done this to me and now he has come for you…be careful” Banshee gave a calm but yet sound warning to the king.
At Seraline Jonse hospital
“Mia you are burning up” Rose pointed out the obvious as she placed the back of her palm on Mia’s neck trying to check her temperature.
“I know…I am just stressed it will go away” Mia responded and Rose ended the topic right there and then,… she knew that it was pointless trying to convince Mia to take drugs. She knew her friend never listened to anyone but herself.
“I am worried,” Rose said as she stabbed her meat with a fork and shoved it in her mouth.
“About what?” Mia replied.
“About you Mia…you came home panting as if being chased by an army of murderers” Rose replied trying to avoid eye contact with Mia.
“Well.. your hypothesis isn’t too far from what actually happened” Mia murmured.
“They are still after you I guess?” Rose said as she placed her hand on Mia’s which was on the table, probably as a way of comforting her.
“Yes” Mia gave off a faint smile.
“Don’t you think you should report all these attempted kidnaps and in most cases murder to the police. What if they finally get you then what?” Rose was sincerely worried as she squeezed her face like someone who just had bitter lemon.
“My father said I shouldn’t because it would only worsen the case by giving them a direct lead to me” Mia shook her head as she gave off a faint smile.
“But Mia…your…your father is dead isn’t he?” Rose removed her hand from Mia’s as she was now confused.
“Yes,” Mia replied and kept quiet.
The whole place became very quiet.
“Mia…” Rose called out to her, breaking the awkward silence.
“Yes” Mia pressed her lips.
“Do you always talk to your dead father?” Rose picked her words very carefully and ensured that she said them rather slowly so as not to upset Mia.
“Yes” Mia let out a deep breath.
“Mia that isn’t normal.. are you sure you don’t want to…well…maybe.. consider seeing a psychologist about it?” Rose couldn’t get herself to sat such words to her friend as she was having an inner battle about what Mia’s response and reaction would be.
“I am not mad Rose…I know what I am saying and I know what I am doing. I am not mad…I’m not mad” Mia kept on repeating as she continued to hit her head with her fist.
Everyone who was in the cafeteria suddenly turned to look at her outrageous behavior. While many laughed at her, others chose to see it as a reason to feel pity for her.
Rose just felt bad that she had triggered her friend to act this way.
“Stop Mia! Stop!” She tried to pull Mia’s hand away from her but she was unsuccessful as Mia just kept hitting her head.
“I know you are not mad…I am really sorry that I made you feel so.. please stop hurting yourself” Rose begged her as Mia stopped, covering her ears with her palms before letting out a huge scream.
Mia stood up from her seat and was standing in the middle of the cafeteria which was big enough to contain at least 100 hundred people. She looked up to the blue sky and did something very strange.
“Ahhh!!” She screamed at the top of her voice that the hospital which was packed with matter and not meant to echo actually had an echo of Mia’s voice.
Rose plugged her ears as the sound was annoying but she was satisfied that Mia had at least stopped hurting herself.
She slowly walked up to where Mia was and held her hand.
“Did that make you feel better?” Rose asked her.
“Yes,” Mia replied slowly.
” I am sorry…I won’t ever say such to you again” Rose was sincerely sorry for what she did as she held her friend’s hand and walked out of the cafeteria with her.. she was just uncomfortable with the way people were staring at Mia.
“She is completely mad…I think they should just fire her so we can stop having such tantrums thrown by her all the time…. this is a hospital not a home for mad people” one of the nurses whispered to her colleague as Mia and Rose passed by but Rose didn’t mind anything that she was saying.
“No wonder she doesn’t take part in any surgeries, if she does then I am sure she would kill the patient”another nurse also giggled.
Mia felt ashamed and embarrassed about what she had done but Rose who firmly held her hand and stood by her didn’t mind, she just wanted to stop so as to give them a fitting reply but she knew that it wouldn’t settle well with Mia and she didn’t want to ruin her reputation by arguing with them.
