Book:Mia and Mara Published:2024-5-1

Mia sat on the bench outside alone while everyone was enjoying their lunch. She saw a little girl playing in the sandbox but what drew her attention to this little girl was her lava red hair. She walked up to her and introduced herself.
“Hi I’m Mia” she saif sweetly, the little girl dropped the shovel she was playing with in the sandbox just so she could focus her attention on Mia.
“You are an orphanage” the girl openly blurted out.
“Yes but aren’t, we all orphans in this place, what’s your name?” Mia was still nice to her. Lakshmi had been teaching her how to communicate so she decided to use the little girl as a test subject.
“I am not an orphan, I have a mum” the girl beamed at Mia with a smile and Mia felt very offended, her smile was clearly fake and Mia just didn’t settle well with her.
“Your eyes, they are green. They are glowing as well” Mia pointed out and intended to go closer to the girl but she quickly moved back from her.
“Don’t you ever try to touch me again or else I will tell my mum and trust me you will be very sorry” the girl pointed her finger at Mia, giving her a stern warning. The warning was too harsh for a girl her age.
“So if you have a mum then what are you doing here with orphans? Why don’t you go to your mum or did your mum reject you?” Mia didn’t stop talking for one second to think if her words were going to have a negative effect on the child.
“No she didn’t, she sent me here because there was something very important she wanted me to do for her and once I complete the task then I will go back to her” the girl gave Mia a very dangerous smile. A smile that made Mia so scared she tried to make a run for it but she couldn’t get her legs off the ground, it was as if her legs were glued to the floor.
“What do you want to do to me? Where did you come from?” Mia felt very threatened by this little girl who suddenly grew taller and her height was now the same as Mia’s so she could look Mia straight into the eyes. Mia’s blue eyes also began to glow, it looked very much like the ocean.
“You also have such beautiful and colorful eyes and to be very honest with you. I do not want to hurt you in any way” she tried to be nice but her voice was still so very threatening, Mia continued her struggle, she still tried to move her legs but she couldn’t.
Meanwhile, one of the staff had been observing Mia from a distance and she wondered who she was talking to. The conversation had been going on for over 10 minutes and all she could see was Mia talking to herself and making gestures. She couldn’t see the red-haired girl and she began to worry for Mia’s sake. She wondered if Mia had lost her mind completely.
“Then why I’m I stuck? If you don’t want to hurt me then let me go” Mia was insisting but the girl stretched her hands towards Mia’s neck, tugging Mia’s necklace and trying to get it off but it seemed to be glued to her neck.
“What is this? Why can’t I take it off?” She was fuming and steam could be seen coming from her head, her eyes were now very red and Mia just didn’t want to see her but the girl wasn’t going to back out.
“If you don’t give me that necklace now then I am going to cut off your head with it, my mum wants it and she must get it no matter what” the girl was getting irritated and she opened her palm chanting something only she could understand.
Mia observed her very well and noticed that she wore an exact same necklace, the only difference was the color.
“If you have your own then why do you want to forcefully take mine? That is stealing and it doesn’t make you a good person” Mia interrupted her chants and the girl scoffed before she laughed out loudly, not for long though as she turned to look Mia directly in the eyes as she was trying to transfer something to her but Mia wasn’t budging.
“How much power do you have? What is wrong with you? Why are you making this difficult for me huh?” The girl slapped Mia across the face but Mia did the unexpected as she returned to slap immediately.
“What!” The girl touched her painful cheek.
“If you can do it to me then why can’t I do it to you? You started the whole thing in the first place so you deserved it” Mia was very slow in the way she talked.
“You are trying to be brave, aren’t you?” The girl raised her hand to try and slap Mia again, scared mia covered her face with her hands but the girls hand was stuck in the air, she couldn’t move her hand the same way Mia couldn’t move her feet.
“What have you done to me? Undo it right now or else I will call my mum” the girl threatened Mia as her hand was vibrating in mid air, she was also scared herself.
Mia was very confused because she didn’t do anything to the girl.
” If you want me to undo it then you better free my legs or else we will both remain in our misery” Mia spoke very confidently and she had no idea that something else had taken over her and was speaking through her.
“You lousy..” the girl had begun to panic but she stopped talking as she was left with no choice and she had to free Mia and immediately afterwards her hand came down.
Mia could now walk but for some reason she didn’t walk away. The girl took the opportunity and grabbed Mia’s necklace, trying to yank off only the emerald but she couldn’t as it burnt her hand.
“Who is helping you?” The girl was very convinced that Mia wasn’t doing all that on her own. But Mia remained silent.
“Aren’t you going to answer me?” The girl was more than infuriated but Mia didn’t even care in the slightest.
“Stay away from me, I don’t ever want to see you. Go and tell your mum that she cannot take what is mine when she has hers, it is very wrong and if she wants the necklace so badly, she can go through the risk of getting another one for herself”.
Mia spoke but not in her own will and the girl vanished out of frustration. Mia couldn’t remember anything that happened even the staff watching her forgot about it as well because the girl knew about the staff so she had to take that part of her memory away.
” I thought you were going to stay outside and wait for the rain?” The staff was being sarcastic the moment Mia entered the sitting room but as usual Mia wasn’t going to give her an answer, she just went into her room and locked the door.
