When she got home, Amelia Bright set the trophy casually on the bedroom cabinet, gave Farren Austin a customary glance and asked, “Do you want to take a shower first?”
After meeting Farren Austin’s gaze, she suddenly remembered that his leg was not disabled at all.
“That, you can take a shower by yourself right, then you …”
Because of her sore throat, she still had some difficulty speaking.
“Since it’s to cover up, just keep doing it,” Farren Austin looked at her expressionlessly.
“Go put on the bath water.”
Amelia Bright couldn’t help but clench into her fingers, feeling inexplicably nervous.
What he had said to her a week ago, when he had come to the office out of the blue, seemed like a dream in her head, drifting, but lingering, and she wanted to ask herself if she had dreamed that day.
The bathroom was foggy, and the bathtub, which was big enough to accommodate four people, was filled with water. Because she had given Farren Austin a bath before, fearing that the water would be too clear and lead to embarrassment, Amelia Bright habitually threw a bubble ball down so that she could send bubbles out of the entire bathtub.
“I don’t want to take off your clothes, I’ll stay here with you, you can wash yourself.”
Amelia Bright’s voice was a little lower, “So that no one outside will notice anything.”
“Are you sure?”
Farren Austin gave her a look.
“Yeah.” Her gaze dodged.
She shouldn’t have agreed to let him in at all. She had just been absolutely possessed, and with the door locked, who would know if she had served Farren Austin a bath?
“Okay.”
Farren Austin nodded slightly and stood up from his wheelchair, unbuckling his belt with his own hands, his navy blue military pants slid down to the ground in front of Amelia Bright, and above them were two muscular legs.
Amelia Bright’s face instantly turned red, not daring to look up at all.
Luckily, Farren Austin just stood in front of her for a moment and then walked away. Listening to the sound of water spilling over the edge of the bathtub and hitting the floor, Amelia Bright sighed in relief and cautiously raised her head.
Facing her, there was a broad shoulder with a rather pronounced muscular line, and a number of wounds on his back, most of which were old, judging by the color of the scars.
Amelia Bright almost choked on her own saliva, but she ghosted over with the towel.
The bathroom was so hot that she was wearing only a plain white T-shirt and gym shorts, and when her hand touched Farren Austin’s body, she felt an inexplicable burning sensation.
“How did you get those bruises? Did you get them on a mission?”
“Most of them are from training.”
“You get hurt in training?” Amelia Bright didn’t know what a person’s life was like in the army. In her opinion, army training was just to practice physical fitness, shooting and so on, there was no danger.
“The more injuries you get during training, the more you will know how to avoid injuries when you carry out your mission, not to mention that there are many kinds of training, and training like real-life drills is to sign a life and death certificate.”
Hearing this, Amelia Bright remembered what Erlina Lee said before and nodded thoughtfully, “I know this, I heard Mom say before that your leg was injured during the live exercise, it’s really quite difficult.”
“You don’t ask why my leg was injured?”
“You always told me not to ask what I shouldn’t ask,” Amelia Bright concentrated on rubbing his back, “I’m not a fool, always asking you what’s in it for me to ask you? Curiosity killed the cat.”
A cat?
Farren Austin’s eyes had a light warmth in them, and the cat analogy was apt.
It’s a cat with teeth and claws, yet cautious.
“Done.” Amelia Bright sighed in relief and put the towel on the side, “I’m going out, call me if you need anything.”
“Hold on,” Farren Austin took one of her hands.
She only felt the place where she was grabbed vaguely hot, and her whole back stiffened, “What’s wrong?”
Such an ambiguous atmosphere, such an awkward situation, Amelia Bright’s mind involuntarily floated some charming images, blushing red.
It was not her fault, but Farren Austin’s body was too good, and the impact of that night in the hotel was so great that she could not help thinking about it whenever she was idle for a whole week.
“Come closer.”
Farren Austin was sitting in the tub, much lower than her at the moment, but even when he tilted his head to look at him, his aura still crushed her to death.
She looked at his slightly rolling throat knot when he tilted his head, the full and firm muscles of his chest, and was instantly tempted to get into the mood, so she couldn’t help but bend down and come closer as he wanted.
Farren Austin’s face came up and she closed her eyes, her chin lifted by him.
“You need to rub some medicine on your neck, the medicine cabinet is under the bookcase in your room.”
Farren Austin’s voice came to her ears, and Amelia Bright froze, opening her eyes at once as her chin was lifted by Farren Austin, her gaze dropping to its lowest point before she could see only Farren Austin’s eyebrows, almost nostril to nostril, and
blurted out.
“You called me just to look at my neck?”
“What else do you think?”
Farren Austin let go of his hand, with a touch of playfulness in his eyes.
“I… I thought you’d let me then rub your back.”
“I don’t mind if you do.”
“I don’t,” Amelia Bright said, annoyed, “you can wash it yourself, why do you always treat me like a servant when you have good hands and feet?”
With those words she hurriedly left the bathroom.
Farren Austin looked at the angry figure, and suddenly the corners of his mouth curved, and his angular face showed a smile that melted like an iceberg.
Amelia Bright came out of the bathroom and ran under the air conditioner and blew the cool air on her face for a while until she shivered, then she craned her neck and went to the sofa.
Judging from Farren Austin’s nonchalant attitude toward herself, that night in the company pantry was in all probability her own dream.
She hadn’t slept the night before and had a busy day at work the next day, so she was hallucinating because of the lack of sleep, and that’s why she had such an incredible memory.
It couldn’t be that even that night at the hotel was a dream, could it?
Suddenly she began to doubt herself.
When Farren Austin came out, Amelia Bright was lying on the couch with her eyes downcast, her magazine upside down, staring at the ceiling and wondering what she was thinking.
“The book is upside down.” He kindly reminded.
Amelia Bright looked back, stared at Farren Austin for a moment, and finally her eyes fell on his lap.
It was standing.
So the night at the hotel hadn’t been a dream, sure as hell it was real.
“I’m, I’m going to take a shower.”
She was suddenly a little flustered, remembering as an afterthought what the two had done, and all of a sudden she didn’t know how to face him.
