LOS ANGELES, UNITED STATE OF AMERICA.
Ace Clark didn’t like the fact that his wife’s heart was beating faster and the sound of her voice spilled fear. Tears already welled up in her eyelids as he reached out to hold her hands.
Ace forced himself to be strong as he also managed to speak up. “Babe, I need you to calm down for the sake of our child.” He knows how much effect the news would have on his wife because of her delicate condition.
“Leroy is okay right?” Ivy mumbled. Her mind was going in circles. She was paranoid. What if there had been an accident on their way back home? Have they been rushed to the hospital? Is my son still alive? She pondered deeply.
“I tried calling the driver but it got picked by someone else. I think.. Leroy has been abducted by some unknown men and they want me to come see them.” He said.
Ivy became pale almost immediately as tears dropped down her cheeks. Panic rushed within her and it made it hard for her to even think properly.
“No.. no.. not my son.. not Leroy.” A sob welled up in her chest as she held on to Ace’s collar. “Bring me.. my-” And her voice trailed off.
“Babe.. babe.. babe!” Ace hands clasped down on her shoulders as he shook her up. “Brenda! Brenda! Somebody help!” Ace screamed out.
The middle aged woman and the security guard came running to the porch.
“Please help me.. I think she has fainted! We should take her to the hospital!” Ace yelped and they helped him get Ivy into the car.
“I’ll come with you.” Ma’am Brenda offered.
“Sir.. you can’t handle the wheels in this state so let me drive.” Riley said.
Ace gave the car key to Riley. Ma’am Brenda settled in the front seat with Riley while Ace sat with his wife in the back seat.
“Ivy.. please don’t do this to me. I can’t.. lose you.” Ace pleaded shakily.
Tears clouded his vision but he blinked them back. Now is not the time to shed tears. He has to be strong for his wife, son and unborn child.
“Go faster… please!” Ace pleaded.
The drive to the hospital was supposed to take twenty minutes but they got there in thirteen minutes. The medical team were already waiting outside the hospital with a stretcher to receive Ivy. Ace has called the doctor taking care of his family.
“Please save my wife and child.” Ace pled with the doctor as they moved his wife into an emergency ward.
His phone beeped in his pocket and he took it out to answer it. His dad was calling.
“Hello Ace, how are things over there?” Mr Clark asked.
“We are at the hospital. Ivy passed out after I shared the news to her.” Ace answered.
He heard his mom scream over the phone. “We are on our way to your home. Driver.. pull over and make a turn we need to be at the hospital.” Mr Clark instructed the driver.
When had Ace received the abduction call, the first person he called was his dad to let him know the situation of things because he had no idea of what to do.
“My son.. dad.. not him. What if something bad happens to him or even Ivy and the baby?” He was trying so hard not to break down on his knees and cry so much.
“I have made a report to the cops but I was told that we can’t report him missing yet until after twenty four hours.” Mr Ace said.
“Are they insane? My son is not missing! He has been abducted and I already got a call! So they won’t be able to help us?!” They won’t help to find my son?!” Ace demanded.
“Relax Ace, my friend is a high ranking officer in the police force. He advised to hire a private invests which I already did. And he also promised to help. Just let me know anytime you receive another call.” Mr Clark said in a calm tone.
“Ace, can you hear me? Please don’t think of going to see them alone. Just calm down and let the cops do their job.” Mrs Clark sounded worried and concerned at the same time.
“Alright mom.” Ace mumbled.
The call got disconnected. And he put a call through to Emily. It was best to let her know about her sister’s condition and nephew’s situation. He wanted her to be by his wife’s side at the moment while he pays attention to dealing with the abductors.
They don’t want money but him. And the man who spoke to him didn’t give a guarantee that his son would be safe if she showed up at their location. Ace couldn’t think of any reason for the abduction for the fact that they didn’t demanded a ransom.
“No, this shouldn’t be happening to my happy family. Oh God.. not Leroy.. not Ivy.. it can’t be this.” Ace thought as he paced outside the emergency ward together with his workers.
The first person Mr and Mrs Clark saw in the hallway leading to several wards is Ace. He was trying to check out what’s going on in the emergency ward but he couldn’t see much. He stopped and then continued pacing again with a worried look on his face.
“Ace.” Mrs Clark called out to him when they got closer. They acknowledged the quick greetings of Ma’am Brenda and Riley.
“Have you seen the doctor?” Mr Clark asked.
“No dad, they are still attending to her.” Ace continued his pacing for.
Suddenly the emergency ward opened and the doctor came out. Ace rushed to meet him.
“Doctor, how is my wife? Is she okay? And is my baby safe?” Ace bombarded the doctor with questions as they rushed into his mind.
“Mr Ace, your wife just suffered a mild shock which is not good for her condition.” The doctor replied.
“Yes.. I shared the news of our son’s abduction to her. I tried to be careful with my words but it didn’t work out.” Ace explained.
The doctor was shocked because he has been their family doctor for years now. “Have you made a report to the cops?” He asked.
“They are working on it, Maxwell.” Mr Clark answered sharply.
“How is she?” Mrs Ace asked.
“We have been able to resuscitate her so she and the baby are both fine now.” Doctor Maxwell replied.
They all heaved a sigh of relief. “Can I see my wife now?” Ace questioned.
“The nurses will move her to a private ward. But I’ll advice that you mind the type of news you share with her. It’s better you don’t tell her too much about the abduction but give her an assurance that her son is fine.” Doctor Maxwell advised.
Ace nodded in understanding. The emergency ward door opened and Ivy as moved out on a stretcher. Ace went to her while his parents asked few more questions about Ivy and the baby’s safety before they thanked Doctor Maxwell for a good job.
