LOS ANGELES
IVY RIVERA APARTMENT
Ivy accompanied Mr Clark out of the apartment and when she cane back in she locked the door. “Ivy, what’s wrong with you?! Why did you agree to leave the country?!” Emily said in a raised tone.
“You don’t get it Emily -”
Emily interrupted her sentence. “What?!” She asked.
“Do you know how many bouncers are out there? He could have just ordered them to come in and take my son away from me!” Ivy answered.
She was right.
“So are you leaving.. truly?” Emily asked.
“Yes.. I can’t allow my son get hurt. We have stay away from Ace.” Ivy ran her hand through her hair.
“No! You can’t do that! Come on Ivy, do you think leaving will make anything better?! No! it will only affect a lot of things. And you should think of the fact that Leroy will be sad he is away from his dad! Geez! Ivy what are you thinking?!” Emily snapped at her sister.
“I can’t let anyone take my son away from me!” Ivy shot back at her. “I won’t wait until someone brings a court note to me! Leroy -” A tear slipped down her face. “Leroy.. is the reason I am still alive! He is the one that kept me going all these years so I can’t lose him. We are leaving.” She said unsteadily.
“But aren’t you tired of running? Ivy enough of this running away all the time. It doesn’t resolve anything. I can’t imagine how much you went through to have Leroy but I understand you. I want the best for you and Leroy. So why don’t you trust Ace on this and let him sort things out?!” Emily interjected.
Ivy shook her head in disagreement. “I am not interested in entrusting myself or my son’s life to anyone! I have done well without anyone’s help! So this time won’t be any different if I leave! Do you even know how many people are out there digging up stuffs about my whole life?! So I won’t wait for someone to pop out of nowhere and tell it to all media houses that I was referred as a bad luck” by a whole town that didn’t accept me. I won’t wait see me being call the Rivera’s girl from the wrong side of the river again. I have worked so hard to get over it but it seemed like it is a legacy I have to live with my whole life. So I also won’t sit back and wait for them to find out that I slept with a man I barely know in two hours.” Ivy let the tears rolled freely as she expressed her pain.
Emily felt pity for her sister. “Oh! now you are just taking Ivy-” She moved closer to her sister. “You aren’t leaving because Mr Clark asked you to do but you want to leave because of what the public will think of you and say about you. But Damn it! Ivy no one will go to any of those media houses to say silly things about you. It is none of their fucking damn business!”
Ivy sniffed. “You don’t know how things work here Emily. You can’t understand -” She stopped, more tears streaming down her cheeks.
“Then make me understand you, Ivy.” Emily embraced her sister. “Please you can’t give up like this. You can’t leave without telling Ace. You have to calm down, it only you and Ace that knows about you sleeping with him under two hours of your meeting. Forget about what you used to be or the way the whole town saw you. I keep telling you that you are not that kind of person.. not anymore. You have done so well for you and Leroy.” She said in a calm tone.
Ivy tried to wiggle out of the embrace but Emily held her tightly. “Emily-” she sobbed.
“And If they get to find out what the whole town called you, or what you went through as a young child then it should serve as a lesson to all parents out there that they should learn how to love their children equally.” Emily pulled away from the embrace.
“Gosh! Look at it Ivy, you are doing fine compared to me who had everything when I was young! You also did a great job at raising Leroy. Don’t leave this time Ivy, if Ace wants to call off his wedding for you and Leroy’s sake, then don’t you think there is more to it?” She muttered.
“Emily -” She wiped her tears. “Honestly, I don’t know what to do. It just hurts me to see my son suffering for my past mistake. I don’t want him to get hurt in the end.” She admitted seriously.
To be honest, Ivy didn’t want to leave again. She has decided to give Ace a chance in their lives the moment she agreed to let him go out with Leroy alone.
“Leroy won’t get hurt. I am sure he wants to be with his father too so let’s forget everything that happened today. And I am pretty sure with what Leroy said to his grandpa earlier, he won’t dare come back here to make another silly offer. Did you see how shocked he looked when Leroy was talking to you?!” Emily exclaimed.
“No.” Ivy wiped her face clean.
“Look at me, he is just making silly threats. He won’t do anything.” Emily sighed.
“Well I hope so. I won’t let anyone take away my son.” Ivy said with fierce protectiveness stirring up within her.
“Now this is the Ivy Rivera I know. I am here for you and Leroy.” Emily assured her.
“Thank you Emily.” Ivy sniffed.
“Now give me a wide smile.. no a very big one.” Emily joked.
“Really Emily? This is not the time to joke.” Ivy smiled.
“But I want you to smile… and you just did.” Emily embraced her sister.
“Oh Emily.. What do I do without you?” Ivy hugged her tightly.
“Give me a good treat.” Emily pulled away and winked at her sister.
“I owe you one. But honestly you know Mr Clark could have ordered his men to beat you up with the way you yelled at him.” Ivy laughed.
“He won’t dare to do it.” Emily flexed her muscles jokingly.
“I wonder why he didn’t order them to forcefully take Leroy right there.” Ivy mumbled.
“No court order Ma’am.” Emily reminded.
“He could have still taken my son away.” She said with a shrug.
“Just forget about it.” Emily retorted.
“Thank you Emily, I don’t know what I could have done without you here. I would have just run off again if you weren’t here to take some sense into me and of course… Mr Clark.” Ivy said.
“Ivy, it’s the least I can do to repay you for calling all the whole doctors and therapists in Los Angeles to get me treated.” Emily replied.
Ivy laughed. “Come on it’s nothing.” She turned serious. “I just hope Ace comes here after all the news. I don’t want to believe what his dad said about him.” She sighed.
“I am sure he will come around so now go and talk to Leroy.” Emily pushed her sister towards Leroy’s room.
“My son must be crying right now.” Ivy raced off to meet her son.
