Sofia’s pov
The kids had been bursting with excitement, which only meant one thing. It meant more headaches for Luca and I.
“Baby, we talked about this, didn’t we? You can’t check the presents until it’s Christmas.” I murmured to Aria while holding her against my chest. She was clearly unhappy about this tiny rule because her frown deepened at once.
“But it’s so far awayyyyy! No one is gonna know if I take a peek.”
I chuckled as I let her slid down. “Daddy is gonna know.” I reminded her and that seemed to make her have a change of heart.
“Oh.” She hesitated a little. “I guess I can wait a bit more.”
“More like one more day, honey cause it’s tomorrow!” I gushed out and a grin split out on her face.
“Really?!” She demanded and after getting another confirmation, she went off to find her brother, leaving me to myself. I sighed as I watched her leave with a fond smile on my face while massaging my forehead. I called out to her to be careful before I got back to what I was doing before.
Having kids was something I never imagined could bring me this much joy until I got to have my own. They were a handful most of the time, but that doesn’t change the fact that I’d choose to have them over and over again if asked to.
They took most of my thoughts along with their father almost every time. Not that it could be helped.
In most cases, I try not to think about what the future holds for my children, because Luca had told me not to and reassured me that it was gonna be fine, it still couldn’t be helped because I knew how dangerous this world that my kids were born into.
After I had them, Luca revealed to me that he wished he could leave the mafia world just so he could ensure that his kids won’t grow up in crippling danger like him and his brother, Armani did. But we both knew that it was something impossible, people born into our world cannot live while still breathing.
And because of that, Luca made sure the security around us were top notch.
The kids had started school once they were two years old. I suggested they get home schooled, but Luca suggested they go to school so they’d be able to mix up with other kids during school hours, because he wanted to give them a normal childhood as best as he could, and I realized that he had a point, but that didn’t mean I never stopped worrying whenever they leave for school.
Their bodyguards were always hanging around the school making sure no danger was gonna befall them and I knew they were being watched almost every minute by their guards whenever they were out of my sight, but I still couldn’t help but worry.
Luca said it was my motherly instincts, then he proceeded to reveal that he also felt that way too.
When Lorenzo arrived hours later, he met me in my arts room and engulfed me from behind, chin pillowed on my head. He kissed the side of my throat and I giggled from the ticklish feeling.
“You smell so fucking good.” He groaned into my ear as his hands slipped underneath my shirt, fingers grazing the thin scar from my cesarean session, one which he had began to kiss when he could even before it got healed up.
My body barely changed after childbirth, and Luca said it was because of my petite form, but I believed it was just genetics. Most of the weight I gained in my ass and hips still remained, but that was about it, I ended up losing the fat I gained in my chest, stomach and even my face.
I believe I’ve now gotten heavier than I once was, but Luca still had no problem whisking me around like I still weighed nothing.
“I always do.” I reminded him sweetly as I turned around and slinked my arms over his shoulders. He leaned down and took my lips in a searing kiss, one which made my toes curl and made my body tremble against him. Despite how long we’ve been together, the uncountable amount of times we’ve done this, it still always managed to feel like something new.
Luca’s hands slipped under my thighs and right after my legs were wrapped around his waist, our kids chose that moment to show up in the doorway, already making their way in.
I let out a sigh as I let my head fell against his shoulder, and Luca only chuckled before kissing my cheeks and whispering.
“We’l finish this later.”
“It’s always this bad timing everytime.” I grumbled petulantly as I slipped down Luca’s body until I was on the ground as well.
“Me next!” Aria was already demanding to be lifted instantly and I tried to wear a stern expression on my face as I crouched in front of them.
“Kids, what was the discussion we once had concerning closed doors in this house?” I asked slowly, watching as the twins exchanged a quick glance before responding at once, almost robotically.
“To knock before going in.”
“So… why are you here right now?” I continued, and I couldn’t help but roll my eyes when Luca snorted behind me.
“The door wasn’t closed.” Andre informed me.
“Yup. It was wide open.” Aria continued before throwing her hands up for Luca to lift her up, which he did as I got to my full height once again.
“But still… you’re still not supposed to be here cause mommy and daddy were having a… an adult moment.” I continued while massaging my forehead. Aria wasn’t listening any longer because she was too busy giggling while being tickled by her father, and as for Andre, he was already lost in the arts he had run off to ogle.
Luca’s hand settled on my waist and he tugged me against him before brushing a kiss against my head.
“It’s okay, bunny. They’re still too young to understand.” He murmured quietly and even though I wanted to keep that conversation up with the kids, I knew he was right.
“It’s up to you and I to be more careful and to avoid getting walked into by the kids since we’re the adults here.” He continued while kissing my head against and I hated how once again, he was effortlessly right.
Like he always was.
The next day, with my heart bursting from happiness, I watched as Luca helped the children open their tons of presents and a few tears of joy managed to slip out. I could never have imagined that Luca would be a good father like this, but I guess it should have been expected.
As we gathered around the enormous Christmas tree, Luca ended up pulling me into his arms, hugging me against him while our children pranced around with their new, numerous presents.
“We’re really good at this parenting thing, don’t you think so?” He mused and I snorted.
“You’re the pro here, I’m still learning every day.” I whined and Luca only chuckled before kissing my lips feather lightly lightly.
“We’re both learning, bunny.” He murmured and I rolled my eyes, more at my reaction to him using that pet name. He never stopped using it even after the arrival of our children like I had first thought, and that pleased me immensely because I wanted to always be his bunny forever.
It had been extremely comical when the first word our kids had been able to pronounce was the word ‘bunny’. They began to speak almost in the same period, and they started off with calling me ‘bunny’ until with the help of Lorenzo and Matilda, they were able to let go of that word and address me as ‘mommy’ instead.
“Oh my god, mommy, Uncle Angelo sent us a present too!” Aria screeched, tugging Luca and I out of our intimate nest. When I glanced at her, she was kneeling beside a bunch of unopened presents while reading what was scribbled atop the wrapper. Andre was at her side at once, peeking down at the bunch of unopened presents as well.
A fond laugh escaped my lungs as I watched her tug a bunch of the presents which had her name on top of them to herself before starting to open them, and Andre did the same almost immediately.
“I can’t believe he sent us presents! But, I knew I could always trust him.” She gusted excitedly as she tore the wrapper off unceremoniously.
“She has a huge ass crush on him.” Luca murmured in my ear and I scoffed while laughing.
“I thought that was James?” I mused and he shook his head. “Nah, it’s the kid Angelo, she told me about it some months ago.”
I regarded him In bewilderment. “What was your response to that?”
“I didn’t actually say a thing to that cause I knew she’d be over it in no time. They’re literally the same blood.” Luca responded and when I glanced at our daughter, I was met with her giggling happily and hugging her gifts against her chest, right before I turned back to Luca.
“Are you sure she’s gonna get over it?” I demanded, already preparing myself to burst her happy bubble while having a serious conversation with her about the fact that Angelo was her uncle and her blood, which means she wasn’t supposed to have a crush on him.
“Of course. There’s no need to ruin her bubble. Give it a few months, she only feels this way cause she barely gets to see him.”
Angelo was now so busy. He barely has the time for us to meet up like we once used to. He hasn’t taken over the mafia from father yet, because father insisted he get married to a wife first, one which had been picked out for him, but Angelo refused adamantly.
Instead of Angelo waiting around to take over the mafia from father, or to give into the clause father had tabled down for him- he decided to create a mafia gang in his own name from scratch.
When he revealed to me a couple of years ago that he was gonna create his own mafia clan one day and that once he became established and powerful, he was gonna claim our father’s mafia from him as punishment from the entire thing he put both of us through while growing up.
All my attempts to convince him against that were fruitless and Luca advised that I leave him be to do what his heart desired, because that was only when he’d finally get to find peace.
Hence why he’s always busy now, and I was always worried about him because of that.
At first, because I didn’t want to lose him, I asked Luca to placed someone on his tail so Luca could be aware whenever he was walking into danger and would be able to rescue him. It only took Angelo a couple of days to notice that, and he called me and asked me to call Luca off it and then he reassured me once again and promised that he was gonna be fine no matter what.
Angelo had now matured drastically, that even Luca once admitted that he was quite impressed by Angelo because when he was twenty, he was definitely not as strong and powerful as Angelo currently is.
My heart always goes out to him and I always find myself hoping he’d find genuine love one day the way I’ve done with Luca.
“Daddy, when is Uncle Armani coming over?” Andre demanded while bouncing on his feet excitedly, and Luca informs him that Armani was gonna be coming over with his fiancée tonight.
Armani and Nala had just gotten engaged a few months ago. Their love had only kept blossoming since the day they got together, and I haven’t rooted for someone like I rooted for them.
A small pair of hands wrapping around my neck tugged me out of my thoughts and I smiled as I pulled Andre against me.
“I love you, mommy.” He whispered as he smacked a kiss against my cheek and I found myself giggling as I hugged him tight.
“I love you more, Angel.” I murmured right before another small body smacked into my other side with flailing limbs.
“I love you more, mommy.” Aria declared loudly as she kissed my cheek and I giggled continuously as I tugged her into my arms and pressed a kiss against her head.
“Mommy loves you most, honey.”
“What about me?” Luca questioned in a tone that conveyed faux shock, with his arms still wrapped around my middle and i could do nothing but try to stop my heart from busting from happiness, contentment and love as I watch as Andre and Aria rushed to declare their undying love to him, and in no time, we were sharing a very big hug that had me smothered in the middle, not that I was complaining because this is something that I was already used to since the twins learned to walk.
It all started with me being betrothed to Luca, a man who was rumored to be more cruel than the devil himself. Whereby I had walked into the marriage with the expectation of said marriage to end my life, because I had been certain that there was no way a simple girl like me would be able to survive being married to a monster.
But, it ended with me finding unconditional love with him, one which I never thought I’d be able to experience in my entire life. I also managed to get blessed with a perfect set of twins who completed my perfectly happy marriage with Luca.
With all these which I’ve been blessed with, I couldn’t ask for anything more.
I was happy, and so was everyone around me.
The world we were in was one which was extremely dangerous, but because I’d always have Luca with me through every second of the journey, I was certain that he’d always protect our children along with me at all cost.
I turned my head sideways and grinned at Luca whose eyes were glistening with clear happiness.
“I love you, Luca.”
His eyes softened at once and he leaned forward and brushed a soft kiss against my head.
“I love you too, bunny.”
THE END!
